So, I just received the call regarding my 6 week labs. All levels are great, so it seems like the multivitamin transdermal patch works as well as they claim!
-
this made me lmao!

Stalls suck. I started my first stall at the end of last week, which coincided with my monthly cycle and the scale hasn't budged in a week. I know that this is part of the process and I appreciate the scientific background as to why, but it's still bites the big one.

4 weeks out, pain in lower abdomen
kimlmt replied to krystalgenie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The stitch popped today! It was the worst and the best feeling all wrapped up into one! For over 3 weeks I haven't been able to bend, sleep on my side, laugh.....it was actually the only bad part of my recovery. I was walking when it popped. ...like a rubber band kind of snapping, popping feeling. It hurt....took my breath away for just a bit, but then, almost magically all the pain was completely GONE! I can bend again! I can laugh without holding my side. I can shave those scraggly hairs right above my ankle! It's glorious! Just had to share! -
Any August 31st Sleevers?

I do reach my protein goal, but I do have to do that with shake supplementation. When I met with my NUT last week, we kind of agreed that I'm not able to consume very much volume. Dinner time is especially difficult, so I try to have my largest volume at lunch. Can you also share some advice eating over 30 minutes? I had read where someone said to take 3 bites, wait 5 minutes, then repeat. I tried that last night and ended up miserable and walked it off. I chew the best I can, but braces make that part a challenge. By no means am I whining, I love my tool! I have never had the "buyer's remorse " feeling at all. I'm thrilled for this journey and to see what it brings. It's just a new tool that I have to learn the in's and out's of. -

any words of wisdom on how to increase calories? I'm around 475 a day and at my 2 week post op appt they said that I should try to be around 800 by my 6 week appt. Try as I might, I cannot seem to increase. Please share your secret! -

I'm glad to hear that you're doing great! Sorry to hear about the stall, but apparently it's just part of the process for us. I think that I'm just starting my first stall....it's kind of a bummer even though it's normal. Also, my cycle is a mess which has never been the case except for when I was pregnant. Again, just one of those things. All in all, I'm great! How is your nutrition going? -

Happy fall ya"ll! How's everyone doing so far? -
vitamins are tough for me too. I just purchased the multivitamin transdermal patches that were delivered this morning! Yay! One thing to not have to take orally!
-
You could do shredded cheddar cheese and green onions also....
-
1 head of cauliflower, cut into florets Cook the cauliflower in salted water until soft.....20-30 minutes Drain off water, put cauliflower into food processor (sometimes I put half in, then pulse, then add in the rest) Salt and pepper to taste 2 Tbsp butter 1/2 cup plain greek yogurt 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese Blend in food processor until very smooth Adjust seasoning to your taste
-
A food processor will make the puree super smooth also...it's my best friend for cauliflower puree.
-
Pureed cauliflower is amazing! I have been using it as a replacement for mashed potatoes for over a year....long before my surgery. It is not a starchy veg, so virtually no carbs. You can add plain greek yogurt and parmesan cheese to add protein to it, plus it will kind of taste like loaded mashed potatoes. Yummy!

Chewable multivitamins stink! So, I thought I was clever when I purchased a bottle of liquid multivitamin. ...holy moly! I was waaaaaay wrong! I didn't get sick, but I wanted to. The blood rushed to my face and my neck and face got itchy! I honestly don't want to continue putting things in my mouth that aren't a necessary. ...that's kind of, sort of why I had my surgery in the first place! I ordered the multivitamin transdermal patches last night and look forward to getting them on Monday. One thing that I don't have to worry about taking that I KNOW is going to make me feel blah!

4 weeks out, pain in lower abdomen

I hope that your wife's surgery goes well and without any further issues. Please give us an update once she's home and recovering. -
Are taking pepcid or another acid controlling medication? There was only one morning I woke up nauseous because I had fallen asleep without taking it the night before. Just a thought.

@@amaral1407, when do you get to graduate to soft foods? I couldn't get 5 small meals in when I was on liquids either, so I wouldn't sweat it too much. My initial recovery was great.....it's the large internal stitch on the left side that has been murder for me the last week. I'm still sleeping in the recliner, so sleep is decent. I think it will be harder once I actually sleep in my bed. I hope that you're doing better since it's been a couple of days since your last post. -
4 weeks out, pain in lower abdomen

I'm 3 weeks post op and going through the same. For me, the pain is pretty brutal. At my post op visit on Friday, they said that it's the internal stitch and as it dissolves, it can be really painful. As a matter of fact, they warned me of this PRE op because so many people wind up going to the ER for the pain. I was assured that it's normal because they suture 3 layers of muscle together very tightly, with a large stitch to prevent a hernia or a build up of scar tissue. Bending is pretty much impossible for me right now and honestly, I have to take it easy to prevent a lot of pain. I was also told to use an abdominal binder and have it pretty snug which does help. They said that I'll wake up one morning and the pain will be gone....I'm looking forward to it! -
My sleeve and hernia repair were done as out patient. I checked in at 6:30 am and I was home by 3pm. I was blessed with no nausea and my pain was minimal because of a numbing medication that was injected around all the incision sites, which lasted for about 4 days. I was able to sleep without interruption and monitored temperature, hubby kept my med schedule and all was great. No complaints at all.

in your box of prescriptions there will be a b vitamin nasal spray - that you will do once a week. Spectravite chewable multi for seniors. The directions they gave me the day of surgery says to start iron and calcium on week 4. I purchased a chewable calcium from Costco that has vitamin D3 in it and a separate chewable magnesium that I will also start on week 4. I also purchased an instant dissolving biotin at cvs.

Hahahahaha! It's amazing! 2 hours and counting. ....I'm down to about 1/4 cup.......insane!
-
Today I decided to add unjury unflavored protein to soup. "Add it to 8oz of fluid" the directions say.....I think I will be eating this "cup of soup" for the rest of the day! It's been an hour and a half and I'm not even half way through! Hahahahaha! I share this only because a month ago, this 8oz would have been an enormous bowl with bread on the side! My mind is blown!

It sure doesn't hurt that Dr. Carlton is easy on the eyes! He performed my egd as well. Congrats on having a hiatal hernia, girl!

the ekg is no biggie. They will draw labs and then put a bunch of the electrodes all over the proper places, get a 1 minute read and you'll be on your merry way!
