Mine was Oct. 26. Remember your protein drinks as well. They help keep you hydrated. Tonight I'm having Unjury chicken soup and it is fabulous. Eight ounces of fluid plus protein. Didn't think I could stand another sweet protein drink. Heard so many people rave about the soup so I finally tried it. I'm so glad I did!

Cream of wheat breakfast
Dar200 replied to sarahbethemails's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to check that out when I can. Sounds like I could maybe add a little unflavored protein to it for breakfast. -

October List of Surgery's
Dar200 replied to 60&goin4it's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
instant mashed potatoes are on my third week list of foods, one of the first soft foods I can eat. I think the reasoning is that there are few truly soft foods to work with and the purpose is to get the digestive track running. Potatoes are NOT a long term option however. -
I'm the anxiety queen. Before, during, after surgery. I feel like psychiatrists are the only doctors trained in this area who know exactly what they are doing when prescribing meds. Hang in there til you see one. If you are concerned about side effects, just google the medication and you will find a list of those. A psychiatrist should be able to evaluate what kind of med you need, maybe his testing will show a problem with depression as well. A good psychiatrist will tell you that prescribing meds that work with your brain chemistry can take some time. My first psychiatrist told me that if you're very very very very lucky, the first drug you try will work perfectly. If you are very very very lucky, the second one will work. And so on. You have to be persistent in your search. Psychiatrist can also recommend psychologist who has a good success rate with anxiety patients. Good luck in your search. I hit the right med first try.

You have done an amazing job! Congratulations!

I don't know that I can really add anything here. I just know that I am four days post op and the first time I came back to this forum after surgery I had to say whoa! out loud because I was so overwhelmed by recipes, talk of food funerals and foods missed I had to just log out. I decided I will follow my plan that my doctor set out for me. That seems to take all of that pressure off of me. It is too soon for me to think about anything else without causing myself a meltdown. If I see a thread on here that is only about food, I just won't read it. Too soon for me.

Welcome! I had my surgery on Monday and I'm home now. This is a great forum and people have been very open and informative here. So ask away! -
October List of Surgery's

Had my surgery Monday. I'm home and doing fairly well. So glad to be home with my precious puppy! I'm doing a lot better than I expected at this point. I hope that stays with me. -
@@retzlpa I hope your surgery goes very smoothly and that you are delighted with your new pouch! I didn't realize you had a failed Lapband. I have two friends that had really bad fails with theirs and one friend with sleeve who now has reflux really bad. He's thinking about revision to rny. I guess I'm glad my doctor chose that for me. I was leaning to sleeve but said it was his decision and he said RNY.

DRESS syndrome - needing some well wishes please
Dar200 replied to heather5565's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope the IV steroids aren't too hard on you and that you recover from this fast! And then you can get back to your new project - your WLS. Take care. -
At least it's not too far off. My only other suggestion would be to contact your surgeon's office about getting some kind of anti nausea medication. I have my surgery in about 30 hours. Good luck with yours!

This is very good news.

New Surgery Protocol on the way. I wonder if it will be integrated into WLS.
Dar200 replied to James Marusek's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I left out. My dad was walking and sitting in the chair and Moaning Loudly while she still refused meds. To an 86 year old man. Who just had hip surgery. Who had not received an epidural. I'll stop now. -

Controlling the pain is part of a faster recovery. If a patient is in acute pain, that patient is unable to get up and walk, do deep breathing, it just makes no sense to me. My 86 year old dad had hip surgery and had a weird reaction to the first medication they put him on. I asked her not to give him that, but to give him another pain medication I knew he tolerated well. She let the old med wear off, had him sit in a chair and walk a bit and I'm sure my face must've been some weird color when my sister walked in at that moment. Between the two daughters standing up to one irritating nurse, we had him on the other med and resting comfortably within 45 minutes. I do not understand where these new protocols come from. I throw my hands up. -

I think performing that type of surgery and not making pain medication available is just negligent and criminal. -
I can't wait for Monday morning. I know I'm going to have a lot of work to do after surgery, but I am really ready to get the surgery past me. I'm all on edge, can't even find something on tv to amuse me. I guess I have about 31 hours until we start! What a countdown!

Pre op diet body and mind changes
Dar200 replied to retzlpa's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I haven't been able to sleep much the last few nights. I don't suppose that will change between now and Monday. Peppermint shake sounds wonderful! Is it GNC brand? -
14 pounds is still a lot to lose in that amount of time. I hope everything goes very smoothly for you this time around. Glad to hear your surgeon has an option other than stitching you up with no surgery!

How much longer on pre op for you?

Pre op diet body and mind changes
Dar200 replied to retzlpa's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm glad it was that too. Are you feeling ready for Monday? I'm so weird. I have still been all over the place emotionally but I feel sort of resigned to it now. All of my plans are set and I'm just straightening up around the house and making sure I have protein drinks, clear liquids, etc. for when I get home. Maybe I still have a few frenzies left in me. Lol. I'll see. I'm ready to move forward! -
Have you tried some other protein drinks?

October List of Surgery's
Dar200 replied to 60&goin4it's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is coming up on Monday 10/26. I'm nervous and not sleeping well and excited at the same time. I'm ready for this pre op diet to be over, plus the surgery! -
Arianna, you look like a new person! Keep up the good work!
