    It's here. It's finally here.

It's exciting to finally get to this point. The day of surgery was a blur for me but the nurses were very attentive and made sure I had what I needed. Day 2, I had to remind the nurse that I had to get up and walk, So don't be shy about asking for things, reminding them. Good luck and very best wishes!

    Only 75-80 pounds to lose

I was leaning to sleeve surgery but by the time I met with surgeon decided he was smarter than me about these things and left it up to him. I too understood that the sleeve was "safer" but he corrected me and advised that I should go with gastric bypass. I'm three weeks out and have no regrets. I've lost 30 pounds total and my chronic back, knee, everything pain is already better. I had mild GERD pre op, none now. Already sleeping better. I'm focused on making myself into a healthier, happier person.
  5. @Daisee I'll try that with the other pudding. It makes it sound much more appetizing knowing I'm getting protein!
  6. @beachgal. Thank you so much for sharing these. You rock.

    Ham and cheese roll ups

The first bite of real food i put in my mouth post op was mashed potatoes and it felt so weird I spit it out! Makes me laugh now but that was only about 10 days ago and I still freak out chewing some foods. Have to do baby bites.
  8. This will sound weird but I'm 63 female and have used Vaseline as moisturizer most of my life. My sister was always horrified about this, but she just got a face lift and I don't need one.

    Been busy yesterday and today!

I used two eggs, but just had cheese with the egg. Lasted 3 meals. Next week I start adding more veggies. Just wanted to see how I did with egg first.

    Been busy yesterday and today!

Yum. Mushroom omelet sounds wonderful. So does the fish. I'm just a week away from being able to try those.
  11. Incredible! Thank you for posting. You inspire me.

    What is your full signal?

Mine is kinda like another bite is going towards my mouth and I think Nope! I'm done. Then I notice that it feels like food is all the way to the middle of my esophagus, but it's not. It's really weird finding that place of full after surgery.

    Tomorrow is my day!

So glad you are home and got through the pain medication drama. Sounds like you are doing a great job!
  14. @@beachgal Do you have a blog where I can find your recipes? I'm really impressed with your protein intake!
  15. I think it is fantastic! I'm only 3 weeks out and I can't wait to be able to better choose the nutrients that go in my body. My week 2 says I can have sugar free fat free pudding. I just had a vanilla sugar free fat free pudding cup and it tasted just likea glazed donut. For some reason this is just saying WRONG in my brain. I really want to get away from those tastes that have made me this overweight and there is absolutely no nutritional value in that pudding. I might as well have eaten a donut. Except the carbs were low. Oh argh. I do believe I will make better choices in my future.

    Your addiction?

What is that mascara? I've been trying to find a good one and it looks fabulous on you.

    Peanut butter?

PB2 is sold at my supermarket and found where they have protein drinks and food supplements. I think it tastes great.
  18. It's weird how different foods get us. I'm just now able to have crackers as part of my weekly progressions, but now all I want to eat is crackers. So, I won't be keeping crackers in the house. I think a lot of us have trigger foods and that is one of mine. I wouldn't trust myself with cake, however I think I could at least test pumpkin pie filling without triggering anything. I'll probably try it at some point. If you don't have a problem with sweets then (1) I'm extremely jealous of you and (2) I hope you don't have trouble with a bite or two.

    Driving after surgery

My doc said a week, but I drove 5 days after. If you go home the day following your surgery, however, you will want to wait a day or two to make sure all of the anesthesia has cleared your system. Don't want to be under the influence from that or pain meds.
  20. Two or three weeks sounds about right to me too. How exciting that he wants to become healthy and go through this wonderful, life-affirming process with you! Congratulations to you both!

    Weakness in legs?

My suggestion wis to see a neurologist. You may have nerve damage somewhere that is making it so easy to fall. I went through a period of falling. I would just fall forward for no reason. Pain management doc sent me to neurologist to find out what was up. Sciatica was causing muscle weakness in my legs and my ankles became sort of flimsy. Started using a cane everywhere. No more falls. , I'm 12 days out from surgery and have lost 25 pounds. No need for cane and no falls. I walk for exercise and I can feel how much stronger my ankles are. I just keep going to doctors until I get an answer.
