Perfectly natural to be nervous. I wish you all the best! I'm seven weeks out and I'm so thankful I had the gastric bypass. Good luck To!

I like Barimelts. You can find them on Amazon or Bariatricpal. I take their B12, Biotin, D3 and Multis. They all taste fine and they really do melt in your mouth fast. I also like the calcium chews by Bariatric Advantage in chocolate. Taste kind of like tootsie rolls.

Look up how many carbs are in a tablespoon of mashed potatoes. You will probably see that a tablespoon isn't harmful. Good luck!

I just read all the previous posts on this thread. Had not read them earlier. I'm so sorry you are having so many devastating problems. I wish you all the best going forward.

Hi there. I'm 63 and six weeks out from rny surgery. Before having weight loss surgery, I had surgery to remove kidney stones and two sacral fractures due to osteoporosis (that's the bone you sit on). That all happened within two years. The way I cope, manage - I muddle on through.

Austin here.

Anyone else having surgery in December?
Dar200 replied to ShrinkingButtercup's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
very normal. -
To @dlh. Hang in there. Good luck on your pre op and on your surgery!
-
. I'm sorry, but I don't even know how to respond to this but feel like I must. Are you serious? This is the most demeaning thing I have ever read on this forum.

eating a salad does not mean you are going to fail. It means you ate a salad. If you feel like you can't control your eating, maybe find a therapist? I tend to have the all or nothing attitude. Even when I have lost a lot of weight on a diet, there would be one day when I would "cheat" and then I felt like I had blown the whole thing and quickly regain the 70 or so pounds I had lost. I'm six weeks out from surgery. Right now I couldn't eat something bad for me without getting very sick. The liquid pre op diet is so hard! Maybe talk to your nutritionist if you are worried about the salad making you unable to have surgery.

Pain after Surgery - What to Expect?
Dar200 replied to NewLifeFinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had several surgeries. When I have had too much pain, I buzz the nurses every 15 minutes and tell them I'm still in too much pain. The nurse has to call the surgeon to increase or change the medication. If the nurse refuses to call the surgeon, ask for the Charge Nurse and tell her/him you are in too much pain. Every time I have dealt with a Charge Nurse I have had a good response. They are the ones with the most experience and they are responsible for what the nurses under them are up to. Keep buzzing. Keep complaining. -
Discomfort with drinking and eating
Dar200 replied to dolphinkrazy22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had rny on 10/26 and I find that if I drink cold water it hurts a lot. So, I've been having room temperature water and when I drink protein drinks, I sip at first until the drink has warmed up some and then I can drink normally. Still having difficulty eating very much real food although I ate some roasted turkey breast yesterday and I think it went well. -
Well done!

October List of Surgery's
Dar200 replied to 60&goin4it's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't been on here as much because I have moved over to the post surgery chats. I do like to check in from time to time to see how everyone is doing. -
There really is a purpose for it. The liver lies over the stomach. The purpose is to shrink your liver so that they can move it out of the way more easily during surgery. Some surgeons don't require such a rigid plan, but it is still sound medically to follow your surgeon's plan.

i was so irritable I was embarrassed. I decided I would stay close to home and try not to have conversations with people. That makes me laugh now, but seriously I was that bad.

I'm hearing I'm taking the easy way out from family and friends
Dar200 replied to Protea's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
By the way, I've told everyone about my surgery. If I worked in an office, I probably would not tell anyone at work. Worst gossip atmosphere in the world and I hate the feeling that people are watching me or ganging up on me in some gossipy atmosphere. Nope. Wouldn't tell work people. -

Statistics show that 95% of people who lose a significant amount of weight with diet and exercise alone gain it all back. I obviously wasn't one of the 5% people, I had lost and regained the same weight over and over again, each time gaining a little more on top of it. Somewhere around 80 to 85% of people who lose weight after having weight loss surgery keep it off! Those odds sounded so much better to me! And there is nothing easy about this. Diet and exercise will be extremely important. I don't think I've ever been so aware of what I'm eating and how much exercise I'm getting. This is a new way of life. Im using the tool and I'm certainly grateful for it. I'm five weeks out from surgery and feel better about myself than I have in years. That is more important than whatever small minded people can come up with to gossip about. -

I don't trust the farts. That's why I was on the toilet. But yesterday I wasn't even feeling gassy. I just walked around farting and then I would race to the bathroom. Very very odd. -
Preparing for surgery
Dar200 replied to Ashley Cherradi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is perfectly normal to be nervous before surgery. I was a wreck. I made myself focus on what I would be doing on the other side of surgery, kind of planning my vitamins, protein drinks, exercise and that sort of thing. That really helped me. I'm a planner so that helped keep my mind off my nerves a little. But like I said, I was a wreck. -
Are the enemas and other treatments working? It seems to me that an impaction would certainly be causing a lot of pain. I can't say it is the source of all of your pain. I've had chronic constipation for many years and enemas are definitely my treatment when it just won't move. I know it sounds gross but it is really a simple procedure with almost instant results. I use Fleets enemas which are simply a saline solution so I'm not putting a lot of drugs in. Just follow the instructions on the box. Enemas are my last line of treatment but prune juice is my first. It just astounds me how quickly it works (most of the time). I have little to no discomfort with prune juice and it usually works for me within an hour or two, if it is going to work. I know that juices are not on our post surgery programs but for medicinal value, well each person can check with their Nut or surgeon about that. All of that said, I'm not sure all of these will help with an impaction and I suggest, your decision, you go back to ER if you don't get relief. I hope you get past this soon.

I have not ventured to a restaurant yet. I think my pouch won't let me.
