My mother had it. Just took one little pill for it. I think it is easily treated. Just my feeling. The doc will get you set up for treatment. Good luck To! You are taking care of yourself! That's a good thing!

Ok. I'm no doctor or nurse or anything. My gut feeling is this. We do the pre op diet in order to make our livers shrink. The liver lays across your stomach and if it hasn't shrunk down, it is very difficult for the surgeon to work around. I think if it me, I'd call the nurse about it. Good luck!

They will take good care of you in the hospital. I've been through several procedures and hospitals have great post op support. Good luck! Oh yes Chapstick is a big one! -
What helped you eat slower?
Dar200 replied to _Brooke_'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got to check out the bariatric timer app on tablet. It seems like it takes forever for me to eat and then I realize I'm gulping the food. That's not going to work post op! -
Anyone having surgery in Oct ?
Dar200 replied to Jenaenae84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Young and obviously never been in a tough situation. My back and ,y knees are so bad the physiologist doesn't even want me walking. He told me to get some of the little bicycle type pedals to put on the floor. So I sit in my chair and pedal. And he gave me some strengthening exercises that I do in a chair or standing. I so walk my dog too but if y knees are too bad we don't go as far. -

. Good for you Edie! I'm very proud of you for standing up to an extreme BUlly! How mean of her -
Hi there! I'm a newbie too and what I've learned is that insurance varies from company to company. Also, it depends on what kind of coverage your employer chooses to buy each year. So if you have Cigna it may be entirely different than someone else's Cigna. Maybe a lot better. I've also learned from my own situation that some doctors will require longer medical supervision than others. I ran into that this week when I had insurance helpers at each doctor's office calling each other ignorant and me a liar. Good times ! I rally laugh about it now because I called the insurance company directly and the very helpful lady read me the exact part of the policy. It basically said that it was up to the doctor! I guess what I'm saying is there are some days when you just have to research and nudge things along. I believe that each doctor is doing what they think is best for the patient. I have a high BMI, 52, so my doctor is only requiring one month. I lucked out on that. But if I gain any weight during that one month, they will deny coverage. So I'm educating myself like crazy and following the one month program and have lost about 9 pounds. No denials please! It's helping me organize my kitchen for my new way of life. I have my psychological test on Monday. I already talked to my psychiatrist about it - I have really bad depressive episodes. My doctors are all in agreement I need it but I'm still nervous about monday because it is with a psychologist I've never met. It's through the insurance. Oh, I've gone on for too long! Welcome! Everyone is so awesome in this forum.

6 weeks out and not losing weight
Dar200 replied to Scarlet56's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Haven't had my surgery yet but have been reading anything I can find about plateaus. I keep seeing people say they cut out carbs, or most anyway, and increase protein drinks to nudge weight loss. Hope it helps. I'll find out before too long as it seems everyone has these stalls. -
It must be difficult having to buy so many sizes, and I'm sure I will gripe about it when the time comes. But right now I'm envious of all of you! And I hate shopping! Lol

The BIG Book on the Gastric Bypass!
Dar200 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Got it off Kindle for my iPad as well. So informative. I'm either reading the book or in the RNY forum soaking up info from the many good people who share here. -
Me too! On Wellbutrin and Lexapro. Had a major episode of depression three years ago and was in psych hospital for 11 days. Very stable now. My psychiatrist knows I'm having this surgery and he is very knowledgable about. He does psych evals for WLS from time to time and was encouraging.

Face lift on 9/3/15! Last of my plastics
Dar200 replied to allielee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You look 20 years younger. Absolutely fabulous! -
If you get too weak, call an ambulance and go to the ER. It's now the weekend and the worst that could happen is they would get you rehydrated and perhaps give you some medication for the nausea.

What are your surgeons saying about the continued problems. I know it's the last thing you feel like doing right now, but it might be time to ask your doctors some serious questions. It's hard to go it alone and you shouldn't have to. Reach out to your doctors, their nurses and keep bugging them until they help you.

You look fabulous, by the way. And you have started your peer counseling! Sharing your story with me has meant the world. I too have fatty liver, fibromyalgia etc. My pain management doctor told me two weeks ago that I would be in a wheelchair on morphine in the near future if I didn't have the bariatric surgery. Just shocked the day lights out of me. I immediately set appointments and set it in motion. But the reality of the change I'm getting ready for still kinda slaps me down. That's when I come to this website and I always read something that speaks right to me. Today your story spoke to me. Thank you for sharing!

You just made me feel so hopeful! I'm pre-op and am on so much medication for so many things. Thank you for sharing your inspiring story. And congratulations for such a great accomplishment!
-
Wow! Congratulations! I just read your entry and none of the replies because that is an incredible accomplishment! You rock!
-
Congrats on the date! Can't wait for mine although I will probably be a few weeks behind you. I kinda feel like I've been in "hurry up and wait" mode. Yours will be here before you know it!

Just fantastic!
