Where do you find PB2? This is the first I've heard of it. Sounds like it would be a great way to boost protein. I won't eat Jiffy ph or the other name brands because they have a lot of sugar added.

@MSWDiet. Those are wonderful stats to be reminded of. I thought I could do it myself and so have spent way too many years being in miserable pain and watching my health deteriorate. I'm so happy I've decided to live healthy and strong for the time I have left. Yay WLS!

Bravo! That is so encouraging.

Preop "the last supper"
Dar200 replied to jamiemarie_11's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I started food funerals before my first appt with surgeon. By the end of the second week of sweets and carbs I was so sick all over that slowing down, changing directions and actually losing weight has me feeling much better than I have in months. -

Do you have your date yet? Sounds like you are ready. Sorry you have a problem with the needles. I bet the numbing stuff will help a lot! -

I'm a hard stick but used to needles so not that big a deal. But I am wondering what kind of firming lotion you got. I think I have bought everything I need for a long time and then I'm excited when there is one more thing. Lol -
To fordgirlalways and the good doctor. I should have qualified my response. I would have a strong aversion to that equipment, BUT, I always follow my doctors instructions. I am backpedalling because I got in the shower and realized how a flippant remark I made might affect someone else's life. My sincere apologies all the way around. I would discuss it with my surgeon further, then go with what he/she says. I have questioned doctors all the way through kidney surgery before, but when they explain things to me I have always judged them to be much better at their jobs than I am.

Good luck Kayluc!

Hi! From Texas here. My surgery will be end of October, first part of November. Been battling my weight for 23 years, well really all my life, it just got completely out of control 23 years ago. I have arthritis really bad and it has gotten worse lately. About 2 weeks ago my doctor told me I would be in a wheelchair and on morphine if I didn't get gastric bypass surgery immediately. I'd been thinking about it for 14 years, so finally I started the path of qualifying for the insurance, making sure I understand what to expect. I don't know what to expect. My surgeon recommended this website and it looks like you have a great support group going here and I hope to be a part of it.

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

I'm going in the circles myself. Yesterday and today so bad I can barely get myself out of bed. I just feel overwhelmed about trying to get my body mind and soul ready. Having a lot of trouble getting myself to exercise. Partly because I'm not used to it, partly because my knees and back are so bad I'm in awful pain all the time, and partly because atmy meeting with the physical therapist he cautioned me to keep pressure off my knees and lower back. As in, don't walk too much and walking is my favorite exercise. If you are all going thru this frustration as well, I wonder if you can tell me how to push through. I'm doing ok on diet they have me on. Lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks. I can't gain any or insurance denies the surgery. But I'm freaking out all the time second guessing myself or wondering if I'm doing enough. -
Do they cancel your surgery if you have a cold?
Dar200 replied to carmar23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My best guess would be that unless you are running a fever over 101 they will go thru with surgery. Maybe be proactive - take Tylenol and make sure you don't give a fever the chance to settle in on you. However, if you feel sick and are worried about having it when sick, postpone. -
Third times a charm, surgery in 6 days, need a mentor

I read something the other day that really spoke to me because I'm really hard on myself. It said, the past is just a story now and as soon as you realize this you can let go and live in the moment and look ahead. Good luck! -
I don't trust it. I've had Heparin shots too. They are just no biggie. Hope that works out!

I'm going to try that as well. Thanks. -
That was quick. I wouldn't feel good about that either. But what I read says that they use them temporarily these days. So they get to do a later procedure to capture it.

I have very high BMI as well. I'm going to read up on that too. Good luck!

I've liked the premier protein shakes. I mean I really like them! I guess that's a good thing but if I just think about them I want to go grab one. That will most helpful post surgery.

. I'm so sorry you have the delay, but that's just what it is. You'll be way stronger with your iron level up as you go for surgery.

Official November Bypass thread
Dar200 replied to Dream4tc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm hoping for a November date but I'm really not sure if I will make it. I get psych eval on Monday. Then just two more weeks with Nut, immediately followed by blood tests. When I say all that it doesn't sound like I'll get it in November. I asked my surgeon's caseworker how long it usually takes from the first visit until surgery and she cautiously told me three months so maybe. My first appt was August 13. Maybe I'll be there. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high. -

So sorry about the weight from prednisone! Every time I take I gain at least 20 pounds. And then it's like my doctor doesn't even believe me that the meds can make you gain. And does the prednisone make you feel like you are going to attack your kitchen? I feel like a wild animal and I have to eat right now! I just hate that! Hope your eye gets better soon so you can say goodbye to that stuff. -
hit like a ton of bricks...DENIED!
Dar200 replied to Anxious2beme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the handouts I got at my first meeting with my surgeon they have an outline that shows the flow of what is going to happen in what order. A chart. Part of it shows the square for sending in for approval. It has two boxes below, one says accepted and points to next steps. The other box says denied and says how they routinely resubmit and get approvals. Doesn't say how many times, just that they expect it and are set up for dealing with. My gut feeling about you writing a letter. They are trained to only pay attention to medical information. I understand your point and I can't imagine how frustrating this is for you right now, but maybe write the letter to get your feelings stated, but hold off on sending it to anyone. If it's some grumpy old women, she may even take offense to it. I can't believe I just said that! I'm an old woman, but not grumpy.
