Sorry it took me so long to get back to this. I think it is all a mindset from the beginning. You have to know what you can and cannot do. You have to be willing to get up and move. You have to go thru the phase of watching others eat what you cannot have. But eventually it all smooths out. The amount of food I can or even want to eat is a good thing. I'm in the habit of knowing what works and what doesn't. I'm so happy with my decision. I believe you will be too, you just have to have your head right. Thank you so much. Riding is a passion of mine. Be safe on those roads. Good luck with your journey!!!How soon were you able to ride? We have a trip planned, would be three days, about 400-450 miles. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App It was a couple of months before I rode anywhere very far. About 5 weeks out just riding close by. Just don't strain yourself pulling your bike up or getting in a bind.

Hair loss I know it's normal but...

I am 8.5 months post op. Starting at around month 3 I started losing my hair. And a lot of it, also by the handfuls. It slowed down around month six. It's now growing back like crazy. I have LOTS of new growth. Be vigilant with your protein and vitamins and biotin. It'll all be ok.
  11. I've done it too. And it sucks.

    Coffee after surgery?

They brought me decaf coffee the morning after surgery.
  13. I'm now on soft/ puréed foods. I've been feeling great. Down 25.5 lbs. This morning I was throwing some breakfast together and getting the hubs ready to leave on the truck. Took several bites of scrambled egg pretty quick and gulped two big gulps of water. Oops. I was hurrying around and just wasn't thinking. That was almost an hour ago and I'm still sick. Not a good feeling. First time I've done that, and will be the last. (I hope) Just a word of advice to those that are not yet on soft foods, listen to what they tell you!!

    Coffee?

Since I'm totally off of caffeine, I drink decaf. Love it.

    Stevia sweetener

Yes. My nutritionist recommended stevia over all other sweeteners.

    Lesson learned. Surgery date 8/10

Not drinking while eating is hard for me to get used to. Ugh.

    Best shakes?

Premier protein chocolate. It's like drinking a rich thick glass of chocolate milk. Yummy

    Post op diet

My doc had me on clear liquids week one. Cream soups/no chunks week two. Soft/ Puréed foods weeks 3 thru 6. Did your doc not give you a schedule of when you could eat what?

    When to get checked out

Gas x and walking. You can toot all the way to the mailbox and back. Lol. Hope you get to feeling better

    UHC approvals..

About a week for me. My doctors office had a lady that handled all the insurance stuff and she didn't mind calling them about it.

    Gas

Walk and gas x strips. Let'er rip!
  23. I slept in the bed. Propped up on pillows. But a few times I ended up laying flat on the bed. Miserably difficult to get up. My husband had to help me the first few days. If you're going to be home alone, I recommend a recliner.
  24. I am lucky. I have a very good support group. My husband and my mom are my biggest fans. Along with my nieces and brother and sister-n-law. All supportive. I only told a few close friends. Honestly the think people look at it as an "easy out". It's anything but that. I didn't do this out of vanity or for attention. I had major surgery to improve my health. Things were spiraling out of control. I'm sorry you didn't have a support group but focus on the fact that you are going to be better. That will be all that matters.
