1 Month Post Opp Today... Wth!

Wanted to add, at one time when I was lifting, I was 177, but I looked like I was 150, so the weight does not matter once you shed all the excess fat. I was 22% body fat at that time. This was before any weight loss surgery. So you will appear smaller, the weight will probably be larger, that is why I say wait until you see the scale at where you want it and then lift.

1 Month Post Opp Today... Wth!

Hi, lifting weights/working out will add muscle mass, and I love lifting weights too. I recommend you wait a little bit before lifting too heavy. I am a gym rat too, and weights will add pounds momentarily. It will even out in about 3 weeks, but if it bothers you, wait until you have lost a little more and then start lifting again, I will start lifting about 2-3 months out so I can give my body time to adjust. If its near your time of the month, stay off the scale, I know I gain up to 6-8 pounds of water weight, soon as its over I am back to normal. I am new with the sleeve 1 week post op, but had the lapband. Not new to working out at all, love it.

Lapband To Sleeve Is It As Good As Everyone Says?

I am one week post op and I revised from the band to the sleeve, the pain was not that bad, the incisions hurt a little more because they have to cut a little bigger to remove the band first, and then do the sleeve. Today I have slight pain from the incisions. The restriction feeling does not bother me, because I was already used to the lapband. The weight loss is much better than the band, I had my band four years, lost 71 pounds on it, and gained back about 35. I was 230 on the preop diet before the sleeve, 220, before surgery, and at one week I am moving toward 200. There will be some heatburn, nausea, but i felt that with the sleeve for years. I think you are making a good decision.
  5. Hi, I had a lot of heartburn yesterday, I am okay today. I drunk my Protein this morning. Will drink another 23 grams today. I want to lose weight, that is why i had the surgery, but my weight is coming off fast. I had the lap band before, and revised to the sleeve. My goodness, I am 5'9", and I weighed 220 before surgery, lost 10 pre-op (230), I am nearing 200 pounds. I have not been heavy all my life, I know how I will look at 160, and 170m, I had the surgery done to maintain my weight. I have HBP, High Cholestorol, and a knee injury that hurts if I gain over 200lbs. Sure, befoere I could gain 80 and lose 80, and gain most of it back in no time, once the knee goes out from running on it. My goal is 170, I look great at that weight and not mal-nutrition, 160 is pushing it, I look frail. I am in a size 10 at 170, and that is great for me. I am figuring that once i reach goal. I will up my calories. My question is will my capacity increase at 6months, so I can increase my caloric intake? I am a gym rat, always have been, just mainting weight was an issue. 165 would be my max loss.
  6. Hi, thanks for your response, I don't blame you, I don't want to gain either. I am talking maybe increasing to 1000 calories 1100 max, because I will be going to the gym to tone up.

To Be Or Not To Be? That Is The Question! Cogito Ergo Sum.

We are educators, and that is quite young, especially if you said she was not overweight. I have known a child since the fourth grade that is overweight (bigger than most women) and she is about 13 now, I would recommend it for her. However, my daughter is 14 and is medium size, but not big at all, she better not even think about it (she has the cutest figure). Don't want to judge, either but when it comes to age appropriate it must be necessary.

    Isopure Zero Carb Drinks

I had sugery on 2/27 and it is hard for me to drink milk based protein shakes right now. I bought 2 bottles of Isopure the blue one, and it taste good. Not anything extravagant., but it goes down without burning or hurting.

Smoking Again After The Gastric Sleeve?

Not being rude, but as an educator, you don't need to smoke at your age, and definitely not after bariatric surgery. You are mature now, because you made a great decision about health. Smoking is not healthy for you
  10. I am two days post op and doing good. Pain in the incision area, but overall not too much. Lapband revision to a gastirc sleeve, glad the lap band is gone. Directed by doc to start full liquids at home, but I am not ready. Clear fluids going down real good. I will stick with that for a couple more days. Sleeved at Fort Jackson. To God be the glory I came out alright. Also, thanks for all the replies and comments, I was truly prepared for most things. Appreciate you all!

    Questions For Veterans

This was a good question; because I have wondered about the ones who had it 10 years or longer. However, that blog is a bunch of confusion. I am still glad I had the sleeve, I think if you maintain your sleeve we will live long and prospersous.

    Smoking After Gastric Sleeve Surgery

I know this is about smoking. I used to drink two to three cups of hot tea a day, it had to be lipton and caffeinated. When I say cups I am talking about the large cut mugs, about 3 cups in one (love those mugs). However, I knew that caffeine would slow down my healing process, so I had to give it up. Do I want a cup of lipton tea, yes. But I can't do that to myself, having bariatric surgery is a committment, and if you are not ready, then wait. I can buy decaf tea, I will later on, 4 months out, just to be sure. I have a girlfriend who I have to run to the ER every now and then to find out why she is so sick. When she stops smoking she feels great, when she starts back she gets sick again. She has not had a bariatric surgery. So, if their are risks with smoking for bariatric patients, don't do it. A couple of drags is not going to destroy you, just talk to a therapist about it. My 2 cents.

5 Days Post Op And Doing Well!

5 days post op here too, and I can concur with your statement. I feel good, and it was not as painful as I had expected. We will make it through this. I am grateful to God for making this a little easier than the last lapband surgery.
  17. Don't regret it, can't wait to eat at 4 weeks. My incisions are sore and some gas pain, but overall I am doing fine, fluids going down good. I am sipping on soup and drinking Isopure protien drink, goes down without burning. Can't wait to eat soft foods too. After my 2 week appointment I will be or pureed foods for one wee, and then soft foods next week. After that. The weight is coming off, but I don't suggest getting on the scale if you just had surgery.

  21. You look great, definitely a difference.
  22. Hi, just wondering how long it took for your your incisions to heal? A couple of my incisions were a little larger than with the lap band, I am assuming because they had to take out the lapband and revise to the sleeve. I try not to look at them. Also, they glued them together and used small staples as well. I feel like I had a tummy tuck, because my tummy is firm, just looks a bit weird. My doc said the staples will come out at the first appointment. With the lapband I had dissolvable sutures. My doc said she removed some scars from the last surgery too, okay hook me up will you. I am grateful for that, but the mini staples look frankensteinish.

New To The Forum And Five Days Post-Op

Hi, I had my surgery on the 27th too, and the gas pains are still here when I swallow. However, I take my meds if they linger more than 5 minutes. You will feel better soon, we can do this!
