Hi, I am new to this site. I have struggled with my weight since puberty but then at 17 I went to basic training and got incredibly fit. Then I finished high school and by the time I should have went to AIT I had gained too much weight and was discharged. I was about 210 by then, being 5'8. Then my husband left me 2 years later and I gained another 20 lbs. Then I met an amazing man that I am married to today, I got pregnant and I skyrocketed all the way up to 333 lbs. My son is now 3 and in those 3 years I have stayed between 305 and 320 and I am at a loss for what to do. I am EXHAUSTED all the time and my son deserves a mom that can play with him and that will be alive to see him get married and have his own kids. So after a year of considering gastric sleeve (I have a friend who has nothing but great things to say about her experience) I finally scheduled my consultation for August 24 2015. I'm not sure if I should even be getting my hopes up yet but I really hope this all works out. I need to become healthier for my son and to be a better example. Any advice on the beginning steps of this process?? I have BC/BS by the way.

I will definitely do that if I need to, I have a friend that loved her Mexico experience. But I'm hoping the insurance will pay everything and I can make payments to them. But I don't even have 5 grand for Mexico. And I'm pretty sure they don't accept payment plans.

Haha well as long as you wake up... So you told them you were hot while under anesthesia?

Does anyone else have a terrible fear of anesthesia? When I was 15, I got my wisdom teeth removed and had to be put under, everything went fine but I was scared out of my mind. And I really want this surgery but again, I'm terrified of being put under and never waking up.

Does it just seem like someone is waking you up from a nap?

I'm not sure. We qualified for Medicaid when I was pregnant and we still make about the same amount of money so maybe Medicaid. I just haven't looked into since we got BCBS from my husband's job...

I didn't see it but now I'm curious lol. I know title loans of scams but I don't have a lot of option, or any options really and I'm so scared I won't be around for my son if I don't get this done.

Fortunately my insurance does not require any pre surgery weight loss plans. Unfortunately they only pay half. But this is exciting! Scheduling your surgery date really sets it in stone and makes this whole thing real!

So what all have you done so far? I'm just waiting for appointment number 2 where I talk to an instance specialist

Yeah that definitely has to be the hardest part. I wish they would consider this something that needs to be treated right away, because it really is. But good luck, we can help each other stay patient

I had my consultation today. And my next $225 consultation is next Monday. I called BCBS today and they said they cover 50%. Do I have to pay the rest before the surgery or can I make payments? Does anyone have experience with this?

Well, you guys have convinced me. I'm going to the insurance meeting and paying the $225. Hopefully things work out!

I just learned that my insurance does not require any amount of dietician visits BUT they only cover half the cost and I have to have the other half up front. And I don't have it...

I just filled out paperwork and there was a long list of things such as physician guided diets, jenny Craig, weight watchers annon, prescription diet pills, etc and I didn't check any of them. Are they going to make try all these things before my insurance will cover it??

PS I would love to make some friends to talk to through this journey. Anyone else just starting out?
