Any February Surgery Dates Out There?

It's not going to be fun, but I'm sure I will be at work on Monday Feb22nd. I'll probably feel exhausted but I can do it -
Any February Surgery Dates Out There?
Pedro Valle-Inclan replied to Sunshine8946's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Wow, folks, I just got about an hour ago from the hospital. My first comment is that for me it's about discomfort, being achie, but not much pain, and no sharp pains. I walked like crazy around the halls of the unit; starting about 4 hours after surgery on Wednesday, but really kept after the walking. It's weird to finally realize why they say it will be hard to drink 30 to 60 oz of Water and any liquid everyday. Day two after the Barrium exam, in the next 20 hours I could barely drink 16 ounces and I was trying like mad. So yes those were three very uncomfortable days in that hospital but I'm excited to have a powerful behavior mod tool to change my relationship with food. I'm kind of out of it right now, I'll be posting more later but wow!! -

what you've shared here is incredibly helpful and necessary for us who are about to have ours. I'm in tomorrow morning and only now getting nervous about excessive pain and hoping I can get back to teaching in 12 days. Yes, I've been imagining it to be pretty bad, so again, thank you for this message, even though I know we'll all experience it differently, it was great to hear! It gave me some more confidence -

Hi folks, I saw someone mention a 2oz little cup or something they found helpful to use post op, I can't find it. Does anyone know where one could get a little thing like that so it's easy to know how much you're eating? I just spent around 80 bucks on Amazon getting a scale, liquid tylenol, liq Vitamins, etc. getting ready for Feb10th...!! thanks antemano, p

Can't bring Phone?!
Pedro Valle-Inclan replied to Pedro Valle-Inclan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thanks,I don't a "bag" but I think I'll just put it and the charger into the pocket of my fleece vest that I'll wear there and just zip it shut and hope for the best. I assume you leave your clothes somewhere when you check in to surgery, then they somehow get your clothes to you where ever your bed ends up being post-op... -

Hi folks and thanks, but you see, you're all talking about people, family, wives, mothers, etc who will do this or that, keep your phone till you're out of surgery etc. That's great, but I'm on my own here. Where can I leave my phone and charger when I go to surgery??? thanks for any ideas -

So is sip, sip, sip forever?
Pedro Valle-Inclan replied to WannabeH's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Nope, gulping is part of the pact we made with the Devil, I mean surgeon.. Seriously, that is what many people list as what they really miss post -op, chugging, gulping, etc. It's true, we'll be able to drink more normally, but gulping in the dictionary sense of the word? No... -

Any February Surgery Dates Out There?
Pedro Valle-Inclan replied to Sunshine8946's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Oh god, absolutely, hardly anyone in my little world knows, so I often feel very alone with this. I'll try to relax this weekend, then I go to work teaching school Monday and Tuesday, then early to hospital Wednesday to get it on!! I know what you mean, I 've been real relaxed aboiut all this until just now, but even now I'm quiet, just awaiting this huge event. Have you been tempted to have a "last Supper?" I have but it ain't gonna happen, I'm psyched -
Strained Green/fruit juices
Pedro Valle-Inclan replied to MozzaWehsha's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I mean, from all those dieting days I had become aware that though "healthier" - that drinking juice was like drinking liquid sugar. Those days are over unless we want to slowly drift back to where we are pre-surgery. It's interesting that given the tiny sample of people I personally know, that I know TWO who had bariatric surgery and are now morbidly obese again. THAT gets my attention -
Strained Green/fruit juices
Pedro Valle-Inclan replied to MozzaWehsha's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi folks, I hope I don't offend anyone here, but when I keep reading people saying they're a "big juice person or a big Bolt drinker" etc, I realize they're probably just mourning the passing of their old ways (that in part got us into this position!) and I get that, but sometimes it sounds like it hasn't sunk in that we have to meet this surgery half way, that is, by this time to be well aware that what we use to eat or enjoy must be completely revised and changed. I don't know, just some of the comments here occasionally make me worry for my compatriots here. Let's do this, Folks! -

How long until you can go back to sedentary office job after RNY GBP?
Pedro Valle-Inclan replied to swizzle's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You know I hadn't thought about needing to be sipping virtually ALL day still 11 days after surgery, now of course no one at my school knows I'm having gastric Bypass, the cover story is gall Bladder surgery, but who cares if I'm sipping out of a large Water container all through every class.... in some ways the structure of work might make it simpler, the stopping drinking a half hour before each meal, blah, blah.. Btw, in those first weeks on liquid diet with my Protein shakes and unjury chicken protein Soups, do you have to do that same no drinking a half hour before and after meals even when you're drinking your meals at that point??? thanks, p -
How long until you can go back to sedentary office job after RNY GBP?
Pedro Valle-Inclan replied to swizzle's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi, well I'm 60, basically healthy, 6' 1" and 250 lbs with a BMI of 32 come surgery day. I'm a high school teacher and my operation is this Wednesday February 10th and I'm going to be at my desk on Monday February 22nd after the February Break. So I'll have 11 days.... I might feel awful but I'll be at work, by hook or by crook -
Man, amen to that! I'm so sick of coffee just OWNING me...

When in is it safe to have a drink?
Pedro Valle-Inclan replied to thbrown223's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
She's not kidding about surgery being canceled if "caught" smoking. My thought is, if you're not an Alchie and alcohol is not a big deal, then it shouldn't be a big deal not drinking again. Hell, what's the difference? We're supposed to adopt a new lifestyle where "useless" calories have no place; you know, like sugar, too much fat, booze, etc. I've heard people on here basically saying: ok, I get it, I'll make massive lifestyle changes in terms of eating and exercise but don't you DARE mess with my booze.... Sorry, but that doesn't sound very committed. Jes sane -
Mind playing tricks 9 days pre-op
Pedro Valle-Inclan posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi folks, 9 days to surgery and excited, but it's funny the tricks my mind is playing with me. Let me explain. I'm 6-2" and 252lbs now with very wide shoulders so truth is I don't look all that overweight to many many people. Now I've gotten down to this weight doing Atkins pre-op the last two months losing 30 + lbs. Additionally I have an ex-wife best friend who is saying it's a mistake, that I can do it "this time" because I have strong support around me, etc. So part of me is wondering if she's right. Well then I remember what my life's really been like, and I realize, sure, I've lost this 50 to 60 lbs many times, around SIX TIMES, of course always gaining back all of it plus some. It's been a demoralizing ride, and now at 60 the co-morbid problems are no laughing matter. THanks, I just needed to vent. I can't wait for this new life to start. And to have this new incredibly powerful behavior mod tool to add to my now daily walks, 3 times a week gym, daily meditation, therapy, Bariatric support group, YOU GUYS, thanks and God bless you all!!! Let's do this thing....- 6 replies
