Question, I was told not to swallow my pills but crush them instead. Is there a reason for that besides not being able to physically swallow them because of the size or are there other reasons. (ex: pills going through too fast and not getting all its nutrients) I'm 3 weeks post op but I'm able to drink and eat very well. I've only thrown up once because I ate too much and didn't realize it until it was too late. I'd like to try swallowing my pills instead of crushing because I can't stand the taste anymore. Some days I don't take my Vitamins because it's just too gross. Anyone have any advice or useful info? Thanks

Surgery scheduled, need some advice please.

It's hard to say, everyone is different. I drove myself to my hometown 6 hours away 4 days after my surgery. I was off pain meds and felt great but that's not always the case with everyone. You really won't have the best answer until after your surgery. Best of luck. I think age plays a factor as well. I'm 27 and I think my body healed faster than many. -
We're in the same boat. I was sleeved on August 31st. I don't know if it's because of our young age or what because my relatives had the surgery a few years back and their journey was so different than mine. Basically, hours after surgery I was already able to drink big gulps without any pain. Before I left the hospital I was already getting cravings for food. I figured that wasn't supposed to happen for sometime. My uncle was so busy with being nauseous that he had no time to crave food. He was just happy to get a few drops of water. I was expecting that. Instead I have zero nausea (which is great). but I want to eat everything! I'm on week 2 of post op liquid diet and tonight I finally gave in and bought a cheeseburger from McDonald's. I only ate the meat and cheese but that's besides the point. I'm confused. I knew It would be hard but I didn't expect this so soon. I'm so worried I'll be back to old habits quick. I thought maybe there would be bad consequences for eating that like throwing up or something but nope, I feel like I ate an entire value size combo but that's about it. I need help.

Any young guys who have lost weight?
vixteror replied to CRNA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
27 years old, my surgery was on the 31st of August. For me, it was an easy process. Ive had almost 0 nausea and very little pain. Most of my pain so far was from the gas that stays in your body after the surgery. I weighted 358, after a week of liquids went down to 349. After surgery was 348 ( guess I had a pound of stomach pouch lol ) and its been 5 days and I weigh 336 now. I have good hours and bad ones. I still have cravings but as long as I keep drinking my Protein and Water I maintain full. Its been more of a mental struggle for me but Im hanging in there. Good luck with your surgery, I know its totally going to be worth it! -

Got sleeved on the 31st. Had an easy surgery and so far a quick recovery but now that Im home Im starting to get my cravings back. I cant tell when Im full, hungry or just craving most of the time. Im sticking to just Protein and Water for now but Im worried Im going to start eating bad food again. I thought I wasn't going to have an appetite but it seems to still be there. -
Today is the day I've been waiting for. The anxiety and mind games that have been formulating in my head all month are finally coming to an end. BUT, these last few days I've had a runny nose and a annoying cough. I'm worried that this will be what causes my doctor to postpone the surgery. I really don't want to wait another week. The mental stress is killing me. Any one find themselves in a similar situation?

runny nose right before surgery
vixteror replied to vixteror's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well I'm out of surgery and I'm my room. I have almost no pain. the only thing that's bothering me is the gas that is still in me, it hurts but it's a familiar pain. I used to get it when I ate wayyy more than I should. I'm excited about this new chapter I've opened. I told the doctor about the runny nose and he said it was fine. They gave me afrin to get rid of he congestion so I could breathe better.
