  1. I have tried to stay away from the scale once I hit 199. I keep my calories 600-650. I have no problems with drinking my water though. I go for a two month check up tomorrow. So I will get an official weight then. Glad to see everyone is doing well. @@marcia Happy to hear you are recovering well and on your way to better foods. It just keeps getting easier.
  2. Feeling fabulous! Loving life and my new found energy. Had a great first WLS Thanksgiving. Surprisingly I was satisfied with what I ate. Had no desire for things I knew I couldn't have. Hope everyone had a great one! @@Marcia Sending prayers for a great recovery. Hang in there each day gets easier.
  3. No need for a rich man! I do fine on my own. If anything I want someone to share my life with, that adds to my life. I don't need richness for that.
  4. The race was great! Took lots of energy but I finished. I did need a nap after. I have been feeling great. Started 6 wk diet yesterday so far so good. Just posting an updated picture. I know I could have smiled but I keep a journal and that's what it's for.
  5. I have my first 5k after surgery this Saturday. I have just started to work out this week and I will tell you that it is kicking my butt. I was someone that worked out 4-5xs per week. Just doing a few weights lifts yesterday wore me out tremendously. I am sure I will be walking this race at a decent pace, but may need a nap after. How is everyone's energy levels? I feel great, I just can't push myself workout wise like I used to. I know I will need to build it all back up, but I miss the burn!
  6. I will tell you that the WWII museum is very interesting. We also have a wonderful Aquarium in walking distance of the area. Look up things taking place at the Saenger Theater s they have lots of great musical events going in during this time. Also checkout Gambit New Orleans. It is a site that keeps up with all of the happenings. Hope you enjoy your visit and our lovely city! Thank you! This will be our first trip to NOLA. I've been doing a lot of research, and it seems that for a first timer the French Quarter is a good area to stay in. We got a great rate at the FQ Hyatt. Traveling are my husband, daughter, 20 and son, 15. Arriving late on December 25 for 8 nights. My kids are well traveled and are up for anything - the usual attractions plus anything special for the holiday season. My son wants to visit Tulane, which surprisingly is open for admissions visits later in the week. We collectively play the clarinet, sax, piano, guitars and drums, so of course we're incredibly psyched about all of the music venues! Anything you'd suggest that is seasonal, or off of the beaten track? Are those swamp tours worthwhile? but I must admit I have a fear of reptiles! thanks - must be a very cool place to live!
  7. @@Shakti I am actually in New Orleans. Message me if you are looking for things to do/see!
  8. I have to set up my trainer again. So ready to feel the burn again!
  9. Thank you! Slowly loosing but loosing! I was fully released today so now onto full exercises not just walking. Ready for strength training!
  10. Can't wait to weigh today!
  11. She's been busy! Lol jk Doing great! Go back to see my surgeon tomorrow for my month check in. Haven't weighed myself as I want to be surprised at the loss.

  14. @@MarciaN What a great thing to be thankful for!
  15. This is some of my heaviest pics
  16. My thoughts... I was scared. I went back and forth for almost 6 months. I started my journey in 2008 @ 287lbs. I worked out faithfully and changed my lifestyle. I lost 65lbs over a yr and a half. I continued to workout and bust my butt. Changing this food to this workout because I didn't budge after my initial loss. I got as low as 197 and never a lb lower. I then started slowly regaining a lb here and there. I was still put on diabetic meds the last year despite my hard work. It isn't the easy way out. I worked very hard to get here. I had no comorbid problems. I was a bmi of 38. I started at about 235ish I believe. My docs and insurance saw my fight for the past 6yrs and approved me. I did it not feeling I failed myself but feeling I needed extra help. I wish you the best on your journey either way you go. Everyone has a different path so don't compare. Your heart will guide you!
  17. Thank you! Daily work in progress!
  18. Actually Saturday...but all the same! Have a great week
  19. I actually made a soup the other day, I bought a butter nut squash, microwaved it until it was soft enough to spoon out. I then added a container of shredded crab meat (I know being from New Orleans it is easy for me to get but I am sure imitation crab could work too, or even lobster). After spooning out the butternut squash I added the crab meat to it with a little bit of chicken broth to make it mushy enough to get down and YUM! Pretty good soup I must say!
  20. @@RDub My doc told me that I would be a slower loser since I had already lost 65lbs previous to me doing the surgery with lifestyle change and exercise. Each of our journeys will differ. Slow and steady is always best. It took me a while to get these hips so I am ok if it takes me a little while to get rid of them. I want my health, not necessarily a size or a weight. Keep on going strong...you will get to goal soon enough!
  21. @@chrys129 I was told to stay off the scale for that reason. Week three and four I was told were the point our body is trying to figure out what is going on and catching up to the changes. It is like ah...some food again! Hide the scale for a little while, that way when you do go back for a check up or you step on in a few weeks it is a huge change.
  22. To add your pic from your phone you hit the plus sign to the left. Then it will bring up a new screen. Click on three dots to the right. Then attach image. Once you do that it should have you attach pic from your gallery. Like so...
  23. @@abs0253 I use something called pocket protein. It comes in two different flavors, strawberry and berry. You just add it to your water. They are 15 or 20 grams per pouch. Try looking them up, they may even send you a sample or a coupon? pocketprotein.com @@MarciaN -So glad to hear your scan is scheduled. Hope for great results and you get moving on the losing train!
