    Help I'm hungry!

Liquids for two days prior and four weeks after. Hunger is mostly at night so maybe the PPI is wearing off and it's acid. I will try taking it later in the day and see what happens.
  2. I am in Rancho Cucamonga. I don't know how much protein I should be taking in each day. I don't know if I can take a bath yet! (Don't worry I've been taking a shower). My poor husband waited for three hours and no one ever came and spoke with him after surgery. I never saw Dr. Feiz again other than for ten seconds before they wheeled me in. After that the on call dr at the hospital saw me. I have no NUT I had np pre surgery counseling or info. Thank God for these boards.
  3. Maybe you won't need the medication after you lose the weight.
  4. I read an article that said if you have more than 50 pounds to lose your chances off keeping it off are 1%. That did it for me right there. I have lost and gained that fifty pounds about 6 times now. This time, I will be keeping if off.
  5. I'm a week and a half out. I can eat five ounces no problem. Cottage cheese is all I've really tried but I have to stop myself from sucking down a whole bottle of protein drink without thinking. I've had no nausea and no vomiting. I am almost always hungry. The doctor I saw post op said some people have very little swelling afterward and so can tolerate more food. He also said said "Yea, you'll be hungry".
  6. My journey with the business of Dr, Feiz began at a "seminar" after which I was moved in to the process (assembly line) of procedures and appointments. After a seminar, a consult, a sleep study, an endoscopy I still hadn't met Dr. Feiz and when my approval from insurance came through, no one called me.I finally called them and they just dropped the ball. I'd been moved from one location to another and gotten lost in the process. I was assigned a consultant "Lupe" who was mostly not available and when she was, she was impatient and curt. I soldiered on. Surgery day arrived and before they wheeled me in I met Dr. Feiz, ten seconds, nice guy. My husband waited anxiously for the procedure to be complete and the doctor to come out and talk to him. I was also having a hernia repaired. one hour, two hours, three hours. Nothing. He went up to the window and was told the doctor had another patient waiting and did not have time to speak to him. During my stay at the hospital I saw the doctor on call, again no doctor Feiz. How did my surgery go? The doctor said "fine" he had no idea. Finally one week later I go to my follow up appointment, no Doctor Feiz. So, while I am sure Dr. Feiz and his associate Dr. Rim are perfectly competent (I am alive) if you want any sort of compassionate, personalized care, if you want your doctor to see you as a person not a paycheck I highly recommend that you find another doctor.
  7. It seems like the people who lost a lot of weight before surgery lose a bit more slowly afterward.

    Surgery at 56?

@@Queen of Crop I have your book! It inspired me and I read it before surgery and am reading it again week by week along with my journey. Thank you!
  9. Day six- off pain meds down from sw of 214 to 205. I feel hunger pangs but they are usually quelled by some protein. I cringe when I get on the scale (out of habit.) I still expect to see no weight loss like my endless diets of old. Hope my September buddies are doing well.
  10. Dr. Feiz seems like a very nice, very busy doctor. I met him for ten second right before they took me in for surgery. He never came out and told my husband how it went and I never saw him again. His staff provides very little support, fails to return calls and is somewhat unfriendly. I felt like nothing more than a line item on his list that day and I felt terrible for my husband who waited over three hours before going up and asking if I was OK. During my hospital stay I saw a staff doctor. Overall I felt ill prepared for both the surgery and for my life afterward.
  11. I think we all go through the process of deciding. For me the turning point was reading an article that said if you have more than 50 pounds to lose, you have a 1% chance of keeping it off without surgery. I have yet to find one single person who regrets the decision to have the surgery. You will be adding about 13 years to your life by doing it and losing the weight. Good luck deciding.

Dr. Michael Feiz - Any thoughts

My surgeon was Dr. Feiz. He seemed nice for the ten seconds I met him before the surgery. He never went out and told my husband how it went. I never saw him afterward. Absolutely zero support from his staff. Nothing pre surgery for education and preparedness. Am certain I will have no follow up care so I am relying heavily on these boards. They did get my insurance to pay with a bmi of 33.4 so there's that. And from what I understand his surgical skills are excellent.
  13. I have anthem BC covered CA and they paid for my surgery. My bmi is 33.4. Maybe if you saw another doctor he would know how to get you qualified. What is your bmi?

    surgery scheduled for Sept 9

September 25. 4 days post op. Feeling blah. Slept most of the day.
  15. Day 4 post surgery. I am feeling better everyday. I've lost the weight I gained in the hospital and an additional 4 pounds. No nausea or vomiting but I am using pain meds. Pain is not severe, more "uncomfortable". And I tire out quickly if I do a lot. How are you doing?
  16. The only one I told was my hubby (because I had to). I have lost and gained weight so many times before, I don't think there will be too much inquiry. If there is, than I went on a strict Protein diet and started exercising again. That's the truth without all the details. I feel that I have enough to do to stay on course without having to pause and discuss, defend or explain my decision to everyone who wishes to satisfy their curiosity. Good luck!

    Weigh in day of surgery

    I gained four pounds. :/
  18. I got mine done last Friday, the 25th. Everything went fine. Good luck!
  19. I had mine on September 25, along with hernia repair. Giant swollen tummy very bruised and sore. I can only drink one mouthful at a time and I feel it go down. I thought I would not be hungry but I am and I get exaggerated hunger pangs. I'm tired and grumpy hoping to feel better soon.
  20. D-rod I'm with you..surgery was 9/25/15. I am miserable but so encouraged by all these posts saying it was the best thing they ever did. Hang in there!
