6 days post op and I've broken down...mentally struggling :(
Linaka replied to Tabatha C's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there, sometimes the hardest thing you'll ever do is also the best. One year from now when your mind and body have adjusted and you are feeling svelte and healthy, you will say "it was worth it". Be well -
Costs resulting from WLS

You'll be surprised how much you save on food. -
Sleeved 6/29/16 and Im only 45lbs down
Linaka replied to keyyzzVSG36's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Stop whining, this is not a sprint, it's a cross country rest of your life journey. Stay off the scale except once a week and do what you're supposed to do. Let your body adjust. Your sleeve is working just fine. -
HAIR LOSS(THINNING & BREAKAGE)[emoji33][emoji31][emoji30]
Linaka replied to MzStockton's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I like I've lost about 2/3 of my hair and it keeps falling out. When does it stop?? 7 months post op. -
This is a great question!

Fifty six here, 8 days post op. 8 lbs down. I am hungry ???? I read that so many people are not hungry after the sleeve but I have tummy grumbling, empty feeling , need to eat hunger. Not " head hunger" . I'm having the hardest time sticking to strictly protein shakes. My doctor says three more weeks of this.

Lower left abdominal pain 2 months post-op
Linaka replied to BetterGolfNow's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sounds like your colon, that's the area where you would feel pain. Could be you have a little infection or inflammation. I'd have it checked out. -
Easy peasy.

5 weeks post-op and can still fit into all of my "old" clothes
Linaka replied to ♥dreamable's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am two months post op and have lost 25 pounds. That's right 25. Not everybody loses vast amounts quickly. Slow and steady. That is 1/3 of my goal. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other. -
Need Support on Medically-Supervised Diet
Linaka replied to ThinSeeker's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think this is the cruellest thing. Are you allowed to take weight loss medication? -
I was scared too. I puked up a scrambled egg but I could eat thin slices of cheese. You get a bit better everyday. Go slowly. Eat yogurt. Chew thoroughly.

This diet seems like BS and I am pouting
Linaka replied to forgetit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That rumbly grumbly thing... I had it too. I was outraged as I'd been led to believe on these posts that I wouldn't be hungry. It diminishes over the next couple of weeks. I think your tummy is outraged and is trying to win. The bread and pasta thing is because in order to loose fat and not muscle you need to lay off the carbs and eat protein and veggies. Stop being mad. You're on the path to being super happy. -
GO. The one thing I hear is "I wish I'd done this sooner". Go!

To tell or not to tell...
Linaka replied to DaisyAmy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@mrs kaje I'm not sure why you think you have the right to tell people what they should and should not be doing. And to come here, where we should be free of shame and then shame people seems pretty disrespectful to me. -
According to my labs the vitamin patch is working great! I just add a chewable calcium. Can't take any iron yet, constipation.

So Cal, surgery was at Marina Del Rey Hosp.

How long did you wear that girdle waist thingy after surgery?

To tell or not to tell...
Linaka replied to DaisyAmy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@TiredOfMyself I've noticed (so far) no one has asked. If they do you are not obligated to provide intimate details of your weight loss or medical conditions or procedures. You'll be going low carb and exercising your fanny off, that's all they need to know if that's all you're comfortable saying. -
To tell or not to tell...
Linaka replied to DaisyAmy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a really personal decision. I didn't tell anyone when I had a hysterectomy because I'm a private person and it's none of their business. I didn't tell anyone other than my husband about this surgery. There's no place for the word "shame" in this discussion. Not telling people does not have anything to do with that. I wanted to focus my time and energy on getting well and following my surgeon's guidelines, not answering curious people's questions, explaining my medical choices or listening to the opinions of people who are not in my shoes. -
Wow, I made it one month! And I lost weight. And I didn't starve to death. And I wasn't the one patient this won't work for. And I actually did feel better again. And I guess all that stuff I suffered, stressed and was near crazed about , I dealt with and I didn't die or anything. 17 pounds down from the day I walked into the hospital for my surgery. Yay me!

@@anna9/15 Surgery date was Sept 25, probably right near yours? If the vitamins are making you sick, I'd recommend the patches. Certainly a better option than no vitamins. I've read in posts where blood tests are saying they are effective. Today is my one month surgiversary. Down 17 pounds.

Try the vitamin patches and keep trying different brands of shakes. Youll make it!

You haven't hit the payoff yet. Hang in there!

Any bad experiences ? by not taking vitamins/protein drink
Linaka replied to shirleyjohn001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think a lot of us are probably tempted to not drink our water or take our yucky vitamins, I certainly am. To combat this I think of things on a point system. In order to get the most out of this surgery you want one hundred percent, or why go through it? You want it to last, to have a great life! So every day, ideally should be 100%. I give myself 50% just for getting the surgery. The other 50% is up to me. Don't drink my water lose 10%. Don't take my vitamins lose 10%. Don't exercise another 10%, eat something clearly bad, bam, another ten percent. What am I left with at the end of the day? Feeling great at 100%, that's a great day. 80%? I'll do better tomorrow. But when you go day after day under a hundred percent, you won't get 100% out of it. So everyday, shoot for 100%! -
Miralax mixed in to a drink every day and a stool softener once or twice a week if needed. Long term use of magnesium can cause problems. Senna which is in tea and laxatives is really bad for you and can cause severe dehydration. Fiber doesn't do much for me.
