167.6 thank you! -
If one reason for your thirst I'd high blood sugar, that will get much better as you lose weight. I used to be the person the waitress finally left the water pitcher for, and I don't miss drinking that much water at all. I'm VERY rarely thirsty.

Flexible Spending Account enrollment

Older thread, but for what it's worth - I put in the max, changed insurance to Kaiser, and the cost of my surgery dropped drastically. Big tip - use mileage! Only way I didn't lose my money in the federal FSA program was to put in for mileage for every class, meeting, lab test, prescription pickup, etc. I didn't have to say what the mileage was for specifically. I had twelve weeks of options classes, plus support group meetings. -

Just putting it out there, so 'dirty' little secrets may see the light of day!

This is a fun thread to get resurrected, especially at the holidays. I ate 1 1/2 home made cookies at the holiday fair on Saturday, and they were so good! I did give away the other 2 1/2, so I wasn't a complete wild woman. -

56 before surgery, and 46 since August 25. The clothes, the mirror, those are great. But I've spent the last three weeks working on fixing 300 feet of bad fence around my yard, since my male dog figured out how to chew his way out. I've raked acorns, moved so many carts of dirt, strung hundreds of feet of heavy horse fencing wire, filled holes, carted out junk, taken huge branches to the dump, etc! Last year at this time, I could barely walk around the yard to pick up poop, forget raking acorns. That is my real victory, being able to do what needs to be done. Yeah! I'll be overweight in just a couple more pounds, and 42 to go to a normal BMI. It feels amazing. I am a little pissed that I skipped right over my hundred pound weight. I wanted a picture of the scale!

Well, duh! Meal sizes
Briardlady replied to Briardlady's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I guess I wasn't clear in my post, sorry. I weigh and track everything in MFP, and always do my protein first. I am meeting my protein goals, but am trying to up my DENSE protein, and reduce my protein shakes. It was just weird to realize I was limiting my dense protein to one ounce in the morning, out of habit. Then for my midmorning snack, I was doing a protein shake. I'll be upping the dense protein at breakfast, and switch to a Greek yogurt for the snack. -
I've been trying to up my dense Protein, and had one of those moments. I followed a diet plan during my Kaiser options pre surgery program that called for one ounce of protein with Breakfast, two for lunch, and three for dinner (plus one heck of a lot of healthy carbs, and a protein snack). I did that for six months. I just realized I've stupidly been following the same protein guidelines. Three months out - makes me feel pretty silly. I'm kind of assuming most people try to eat the same amount / protein each meal? If not, how do you balance it?

Thank you, @fat2phat. Hope your surgery goes well, and you have as smooth a recovery as I did!

Kindle posted a response to a topic on Protein that surprised me, about how much protein we can absorb. That was absolutely the first time I had heard of a limit. I did some googling, and was very surprised. Several sites talked about absorption rates of 8 to 10 grams per hour for whey protein, with a time frame of about an hour and a half before the excess is converted to sugar. Even dense protein, the max I found was 30 grams per meal that could be absorbed. Has anyone looked into this topic mite, that can send me some really good links? If we can only absorb 15 grams of protein per shake, why are we drinking shakes with 25 - 30 grams at a time? Should we be splitting these shakes to maximize absorption? Why was this never mentioned in my prep classes?

Oops, finally got there. Android sure doesn't seem to like this topic, though. Crashes my tablet. When I did get to the spreadsheet, the version I see has a lot of people losing 100, 200 pounds in one week. I'm assuming this is Android punking me? -

Is there a limit as to how many pages will display? I can't get to the original first page to see the link to the spreadsheet. Maybe post it again?
