Tall Women, Tell Me Your Story!

My goal is 170-185. My Dr doesn't give goal weights... he allows the individual to choose what is comfortable
  2. I tell any and every one I can. I do it... for me. I'm a pretty open person and seeing and hearing from so many has been good for me. I've had several of my "friends" on Fb message me about them considering surgery. They ask questions, some are the same ones asked of others in this forum, but I know they all ask out of actual curiosity and not in judgement. It feels awesome to have helped others in their journey, no matter the distance between us. I don't get offended when others claim that "I cheated", because anyone who has had WLS knows it's not simple or easy

Tall Women, Tell Me Your Story!

5'11" here. I was sleeved on December 10th, 2015. My highest weight was 301, SW 284 and CW 252. I've lost 20" in the measured areas (which wasn't many) since December. January proved very... tough for me. I didn't lose like I wanted/expected, but I lost none the less. Ill be 2 months postop tomorrow, and I'm looking and feeling better already. Excited to see what month 2 brings, weight loss wise. I'm getting lots if compliments already. Good luck to all of you awaiting surgery! This has been the best decision, by far, in regards to my health that I have made.
  4. I'm one month out tomorrow! Was sleeved on 12/10. Surgery went quick... I woke up in intense pain until I was alert enough to learn the pain pump, then it was smooth sailing. My nurses were shocked, I was walking alot, getting up and down with no issues, getting in fluids easily. Fast forward 4 weeks... I'm down 30lbs. Still working on meeting Fluid goals. Eating pretty normally. I do have one incision that has opened and is inflamed, but not too painful nor is it infected. I seem to handle all foods quite well, and that bothers me. I'm going to chat with my NUT tomorrow and ask lots of questions. I've started jogging and went to work at 4 days post-op. I've been wearing jeans since 2 days post-op and over all feel pretty fantastic. My weightloss has been good, but I was kinda hoping for more. Please note that not everyone will have the same recovery. I have a friend who was sleeved the same day and still can't return to work, still can't keep anything down. I'm lucky... good luck to everyone who was recently sleeved or who is waiting! Excited to share the journey with you all. I had my first NSV today. I looked in the mirror and actually noticed a smaller me. For the first time, I could see the weighloss. It's exciting!!

Tall Women, Tell Me Your Story!

Hey! Our stats are identical! Though I've never been 140 (at least not in my adult life). My HW was 301. Pre-surgery weight 291, SW 284, CW 270. Surgery was 12/10. Looking forward to seeing your journey!
  6. I'm 1 day post op. Surgery took place last night. My surgery was easy and straight forward, sleeve took 30 mins from rolling back to OR to when doc came and told my friend I was heading to recovery. I woke up from anethesia very very sick. I vomited a few times. And was shocked by the pain. Just a couple hours later I had figured out the morphene drip and was up and moving. I had many nurses who were really shocked by my willpower. One even said I looked like a visitor, not someone who just had surgery. I was released this morning at 10am, just 16 hours from when I had my surgery. I feel great. Went and got my meds filled and picked up some yogurt and soup. I am glad I had such a great recovery... That's one thing I was worried about.
  7. Hey guys! Anyone sleeved in Oct, Nov, or Dec please come join our secret FB support page! It's secret so none of your other FB friends can see that you are in the group. Me personally, I'm keeping my surgery private. We would love to have you join! Send me a friend request (I can only add friends to the group) and a message with your surgery date and I will get you added. Thanks! My name is Anna Montagna - Galanos on FB Sent a FR and message
  8. I am going alone. My surgeons office is 3 hours away and across the street from the hospital. I will travel over on Wednesday, have my pre-op appointment then have surgery the next day. I'm enjoying the idea of a day without kiddos or my husband. Then I will stay over night at the hospital after surgery and come home on Saturday. I'm staying with my boss who lives in the same city then he is bringing me back home. I'm glad I read this .. I will make sure I ask for my scripts from my surgeon during my pre-op so I don't have to make stops on my way home

    Cigna Denial

    Cigna guidelines

    Cigna Denial

I read the guidelines probably 100 times. It states no less than 89 days of PCP monitored dieting (or dietitian monitored). Was it the full 89 days?

    All liquid diet pre-op...

I've been on a tester "pre-op" diet. I went 3 full days of no solid food. And 4 additional days of adding SF Jello and smooth Soups. I found keeping busy, I work retail, has helped fend off hunger. I have 3 Protein shakes a day and an additional 64-86 oz of Water. I never felt hunger, and actually when I had sugar or carbs after I stopped I realized how CRAPPY I felt after eating it! I wanted to make sure I could handle the drastic change in my diet... And I found I could! Also pretty sure I dropped a few pounds! So that's a plus!

    Vaping pre op

I manage a vape shop... I plan to go to 0mg nicotine for my surgery period. I won't stop vaping though... It's my hobby and livelyhood!

    Did you tell anyone?

I have struggled for the last few weeks as to weather to tell my extended family, heck, my dad and step mom. I was taunted as a kid by my step-mom about my eating, weight and pretty much everything I wore. She was very hateful... Looking back I realize she was young, barely 20 (my dad was 25), and was learning how to parent so I don't hold it against her anymore. Anyway, I told them today... I got a "thanks for letting us know, have a speedy recovery." Better than I expected... She lost about 40lbs on WW and has always been vocal about thinking WLS was an "easy fix." I plan to let them know my surgery date when it's scheduled and when I get home but other than that... I have no desire to discuss it with them. I'm 31!!! Not 5... I only need my husband's and close friend's support. BTW: my dad and step-mom live 2500 miles away... It's not like they will be here to help.
  25. I just spoke with my insurance and found out that my 7 months of previous dieting (done last year monitored by my PCP) will be able to be used! That means that all I need for my approval is my surgeon eval (scheduled for September 17th) NUT eval (scheduled for September 17th) and my Psych eval! I was worried I would have to wait and complete another 6 months of PCP monitored dieting! Fingers crossed I can be approved and schedule surgery soon! If I can complete it before December 31st my insurance (Cigna) pays 100%! I'm so ready! I've been following a post-op diet by getting my Protein and eating (chew chew chewing)! I'm so excited!
