I just spoke with my insurance and found out that my 7 months of previous dieting (done last year monitored by my PCP) will be able to be used! That means that all I need for my approval is my surgeon eval (scheduled for September 17th) NUT eval (scheduled for September 17th) and my Psych eval! I was worried I would have to wait and complete another 6 months of PCP monitored dieting! Fingers crossed I can be approved and schedule surgery soon! If I can complete it before December 31st my insurance (Cigna) pays 100%! I'm so ready! I've been following a post-op diet by getting my Protein and eating (chew chew chewing)! I'm so excited!

Congrats!! I, too, have Cigna and I'm hoping that with my monitored attempts last year (7 months of weigh-ins) my insurance will us that and my current attempts to push my surgery along. Can't wait to see how you do!

Looking good!!! ???? -
That's awesome to hear about being able to go back so soon. I have a mostly easy job that gives me lots of room to sit and relax if needed. I'm hoping to have my surgery scheduled where I can return quickly. I just had gallbladder surgery in December and made a 12 hour trip to Colorado just 4 days later for Christmas.

Tall Women, Tell Me Your Story!

I'm 6' and my current weight is 294. I'm just starting my journey. I have my online seminar and doctor consult scheduled. In my first month (of 3) of doctor monitored dieting and hoping to get my surgery before the end of this year. If I can, it will cost me nothing. If it goes into next year it will just cost my deductible. I've been thinking a lot about where *I* want to be, weight wise. I love the before and after pics but find it hard to compare shorter pictures to my body type, so I'm happy I found this thread. I would like to be at 175 and maintain that weight. I have 2 children and quite a bit of belly flab... I'm really hoping I won't have to have plastic surgery but it's not out of the question. I'm so happy I found this group! A ton of inspiration is here for me, for sure! -
Congrats!! How exciting! I have Cigna too and I'm just starting my journey!

Letter to Human Resources (long)

My husbands company has Cigna and they not only cover WLS they have a plan add-on called surgery plus that will do the surgery at no cost to the insured (if annual deductible has been met) and will actually pay the insured $500 for travel expenses. I live in a rural area and my surgery will be done 220 miles away with the surgeon coming to our town every 2 weeks for pre/post op appointments. That being said, there are hoops I have to jump through to be approved. I have met the BMI hoop and now have to complete 3-6 months of monthly doctor appointments. I am working hard to push for the 3 month deadline so that my surgery can be completed by the end of the year. Our insurance also covers plastic surgery for "medical necessity." My husband works for a large, international gold mining company, so I'm guessing that is why we have better benefits. -
Hello all. Northern Nevada (Elko) here and I have a consult with Dr. Cottam next month to get the ball rolling. I see a few people have had surgery with him. Looking for feedback on pre/post and the surgery with the dr. What little interaction I've had with his staff so far has been pleasant. I tend to heal quickly from surgery so I'm hoping it will be an easy transition back to work after surgery.
