My surgeon wouldn't. I mean...why lie? Every doctor wouldn't say that.

There are many reasons why people go to Mexico for surgeries. I had my surgery in Mexico. I got the BEST CARE I have ever had. After I had surgery, I was in the hospital for two more days, under actual watchful eyes from nurses who would come within minutes when I pushed the nurse button. Come. Not answer on the speaker to see what I wanted. Came. Every time! They took wonderful care of me, and the valets from BariatricPal took wonderful care of me and my daughter. I was checked on frequently. Then, after my THREE days in the hospital, I was cleared to be discharged, to go to an awesome hotel for two more days, where I was visited by a doctor both days to make sure I was healing correctly and to make sure to answer any questions I had. On top of that, I can email my surgeon and nutritionist and get a response within hours. Not days. Going to Mexico to get my surgery was one of the BEST CHOICES I have EVER MADE!! Please do more research before you make judgments about surgery and hospital care in Mexico. The care I received was 100 times better than any hospital in the US.

Sandy - It's already straightened out. You're lying, and pretty much everyone knows it. After ALL the dodging you have done just on THIS thread, you have done irreparable damage to your company. Now, all of a sudden, you want to "meet for coffee" with Alex? After you have attacked him and called him a liar? If I was him, I would say "No thanks...I actually don't have time for games".

Now I know you're speaking b.s. The chief surgeon for ALM is NOT the number 1 surgeon in North America.

So that means yes there was a death. It's unbelievable that people would spend soooooo much time ignoring the question by attacking someone else. It's really time to grow up. You still haven't proven that what BariatricPal claims is not true. So....to me, you're avoiding the question because there was a death. End of story.

Uh...I'm sorry, Sandy, but where is YOUR SOURCE that BariatricPal has NOT had zero deaths in 8500 surgeries? Seems to me like someone is a little mad without confirming the recent patient death at ALM. And...if you actually knew anything, you would know that there has been quite a few articles of deaths and complications at ALM.

I had mini gastric bypass almost four months ago and I still don't get hungry. I eat because I have to in order to stay healthy and keep losing weight. I also use the MyFitnessPal app and write down my fluid and protein amounts. I don't get hungry but I know when I need to eat.

My nutritionist said that when you start upping your activity, you need to up your fluids and watch your carb intake. So 64oz may not be enough. I had mini gastric bypass on 12/12/16, and almost 4 months later I am down almost 60 lbs. My surgery weight was 247 lbs and I now weigh 192.6 lbs. I also have PCOS, and besides my excess hair still being a problem and a few hot flashes, I have much more energy and can do so much more (no more fits of fatigue). I also decided to not continue taking the metformin my endocrinologist had me on, because I wanted to really give my body a chance to recover from the surgery, and so far my test results have been perfectly normal. I'm not sure at this point if I will start taking metformin again. I have learned that anytime I bump up my activity, I lose less weight until I also up my fluid intake. Now I'm aiming for 126 oz of fluids. I am currently taking in 118 oz, and up until this week, I was losing at least 3 lbs a week. Try to take in more fluids and watch your carb intake and see if that helps.

I had surgery with Dr. Illan in December of 2016. Before surgery I only told my mom and daughter and a few friends because I didn't want to deal with any drama. After my surgery, I have been more open about it. If someone notices my weight loss and asks me what I'm doing, I will tell them that I had wls, and answer any questions they may have. I feel like if I can educate one person and perhaps change their perception of wls, it can help more people. But I agree with pantala that if you suspect negative reactions from family and others, you probably are right.

Dr. Illan was my surgeon. I had surgery on 12/12/16 and had no complications. I had mini gastric bypass. I stayed at Oasis of Hope Hospital and then went to Pueblo Hotel & Casino. Both places were nice. Dr. Illan, his surgical staff, which includes two other bariatric surgeons, the other doctors, nurses and valets were amazing. They were very attentive and made sure I was healing right and that I and my daughter had everything we needed. One of the best decisions I have ever made!!!

I watch My 600lb Life every week too! I started watching it months before I had surgery. I see some similarities with some of the stories and what I was experiencing, even though I didn't weigh anywhere close to that weight. I could identify with them. After my surgery (mini gastric bypass), I can identify with them more because I understand how hard it is sometimes to stick with the post op diet and not give in to my emotional eating cravings (which I won't, because it's simply not worth it). But I get it now. And like a lot of them, I am successful. But I also get upset with the ones who fight the doctor's plan, don't take responsibility and accountability for their decisions, or just down right refuse to do anything the doctor says. Now that I'm on the losers bench and have to make these decisions for myself, it almost makes me angrier when some of them choose not to follow the rules. It helps me to watch it.

He will take into account your questionnaire and your questions and concerns and let you know which surgery he thinks will be best for you. The thought of rerouting the intestines can be scary but I never think about it. I don't feel any different, except I can feel my pouch when I'm bloated or full. Not knowing your medical history, I would suggest asking him about the mini gastric bypass, and weigh your options. Please let me know if you have any other questions ok?

I'm sorry, but this is published by a vitamin company that does not want people to buy anything other than their vitamins. I'm more than three months out and had my blood work done. I use six different patches, including the multivitamin ones. Before I had surgery, I was slightly anemic. Now, I'm not anemic at all. After surgery, your blood work won't miraculously get better, unless you are taking your vitamins. There is no proof that Vitamin patches don't do what they are supposed to do. Matter of fact, there are many people that have been using vitamin patches for years and have had great blood work. There is no basis for this other than misinformation.

I said goodbye to food that has no nutritional value. If it doesn't have protein, or has too many carbs, or is just an empty food, I'm not eating it. Learning to only fill my body with healthy food is part of my lifestyle change. I certainly don't believe in anything in moderation. That's not a healthy lifestyle. So, yes that means that I'm not eating a Twix ever again. For what? Everyone is different. But I didn't fight for over two years to get this surgery to turn around and go right back to the foods and habits that got me to being overweight in the first place. When I want something sweet I will get something or make something with substitutions. There are sooooo many recipes out there now that can both provide the sweet and healthy. I'm in this for the long haul. We don't need to eat in moderation. We need to eat healthy. But that's just me.

I was told by my NUT that if the 1st or 2nd ingredient is water, then it is a liquid. And I was told by her that protein shakes count as both liquid and meal. So I count them as such. I am over three months out.

I take 10,000 mcg of Biotin a day. No problems.

I had MGB on 12/12/16. I have had no complications. I have had no acid reflux issues. I do take a Protonix every day but that's simply because I have LPRD (laryngopharyngeal reflux disease or silent reflux) and I haven't gotten a checkup with my ENT doctor. My surgeon also gave me some omeprazole to take after surgery when I was discharged. I started taking the Protonix after I ran out of the omeprazole. I have lost 51 lbs so far and am almost in onederland. My heaviest weight was 298 lbs. My pre-op diet weight was 259.2 lbs. My surgery weight was 247 lbs. My current weight is 201 lbs. My goal weight is 145 lbs. I am 5'7" tall. I get nauseous at times but it doesn't last long. I'm not sure why it happens but it doesn't happen often. I have dumped once right after surgery on my way home. I bought the wrong Gatorade drink and took a few sips. Almost immediately I started to feel light headed and dizzy and just generally bad. I figured it out pretty quickly. I tried to pour water into the Gatorade but that didn't work so I just threw it away and got something else. The thing that has worked for me is having an eating schedule and keeping in touch with my surgeon and my NUT. They have helped me tremendously to make sure I am making progress. I hope my experience helps you make a decision. Having this surgery is one of the best decisions I have ever made. [emoji2][emoji41][emoji3]

Dehydration can cause you to feel hungry when really you're thirsty. It's absolutely necessary that you get in your fluids and protein. I had to set a 15 timer in order to drink more fluids. I'm three months out and have never felt hungry. I went on vacation recently and found that when I'm stressed I have head hunger, not actual hunger. I even felt like I was hangry. But then I realized that I was also craving the wrong foods during that time. So I understood that I'm not really hungry but that I need to recognize that when I'm stressed my head hunger is going to raise its ugly head and I need to drink more fluids and not give in to grazing. And I wasn't hungry from my first day of the post op diet.

You also put on water weight from the fluids they give you in the hospital.

For me I was able to feel full as soon as I started my liquid diet. It felt like my new pouch (Fee Fee) was bloated and uncomfortable and my right nostril would start to drain. We were told to pay attention to that full feeling so that we wouldn't overeat. I still get that feeling. Everyone is different.

Are you still sipping and waiting at least 30 minutes before and after your meals?

I have had no acid reflux problems so far. I am still taking one 40 mg Protonix a day until I get a check up with my ENT. She diagnosed me with LPRD (laryngopharyngeal reflux disease-silent reflux) and I won't stop taking that until she tells me I don't have to. But I'm also prepared to take that for the rest of my life if I need to.

I'm sorry you are experiencing that and I hope it can be gotten rid of. There is a risk of bile reflux but my surgeon did a surgery technique to make sure that does not happen. I know you are trying to help. No worries! [emoji4]

The sleeve leaves no stomach left. Between 70-80% of the stomach is completely removed. Unless the surgery is done differently in different countries. Getting the right information is very important. Neither the MGB pouch or the RNY pouch are a high pressured valve and so neither causes acid to leak.
