    October List of Surgery's

Hi 60&goin4it, I haven't posted in months, but I started posting on BariatricPal around September/October of last year. It's taken more than a year, but I'm finally having surgery on December 12th!! I'm working with BariatricPal TeamMX and Dr. Illan is doing my surgery. I'm so excited!! Seriously?

Yeah, not when you can't back up what you said. I'd say that's a refusal to take responsibility and accountability for your actions/words/posts. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Seriously?

So...you can accuse someone of something but not take the time to back it up? Why did you do that in the first place? Why would you try to slander someone's name, and then NOT back it up? And then, to top it off, you decided to NOT apologize for it? It seems to me the problem is way more you, and really not LipstickLady at all. Hmmm Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Seriously?

Interesting...I think @@ShelterDog64 is simply voicing his/her opinions, just like you are. I think what you said is negative. I mean, you can post what you like. You can't control the responses you get. There's nothing to think about. How about you follow your OWN advice? Live your life and let others travel their own road. And let me add, Just own up to it and stop trying to validate your mistakes. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Things I can no longer have....

As far as NSAIDS are concerned, I can no longer take those because I will develop ulcers. I haven't had the surgery yet but I know I can't have those ever again. As far as eating anything after a year, I won't be doing that, as I know that if I go back to eating the way I did before I had surgery, I will gain weight again. I'm not going through all of this to end up back where I started from. My eating and exercising lifestyle will change for the rest of my life. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

The straw that broke the camel's back

I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2014. I had suddenly put on 50 lbs in about three months with zero change in diet or exercise. I have severe issues with my knees that can only be dealt with surgery and I can't get the surgery until I lose weight. Can't lose weight due to PCOS. I also have LPRD, or GERD but worse. Gastric bypass is the only option in order for me to get my health back. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Caffeine

Just as an FYI, there are people who still dump well after a year. So know that it can definitely still happen. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I think you have to have the surgeon's office file the appeal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Ulcers on my stomach

It's going to depend on the cause of the ulcers and if antibiotics are necessary. Your doctor should let you know these things soon. Or you can call the office and ask. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Endoscopy today! What to expect?

  20. @@Valentina, People are not negative because they tell the truth. "Support" has become this "Everything is beautiful" word and that's not what support is. I appreciate that people on here are not going to lie or sugarcoat the truth. By you trying to vilify other people's posts by judging them, you've done this person a great disservice. She is receiving help. Maybe you don't like it, but you can't dictate how we help people on here. This is the only place I've been on where people tell the truth. And in an age where not a lot of people are or want to be accountable, it's refreshing to see it here. Real support. Because we do actually care. About everyone succeeding in the healthiest way possible. So that means telling the truth. If you cheat the system, the only one cheated is you. Is it worth it? What is gaining your health back worth to you? Do you want temporary or long term? How hard will you work for it? Follow the instructions. They are there to help you be successful. None of us is smarter than the doctor. You can do it!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. There are rules for a reason. And everyone is entitled to make whatever choices they want. And there are consequences for the choices we make, good and bad. Everyone CAN follow the rules. It's just whether or not each person will choose to or not. And that directly affects the outcome. Being human also includes people who choose to follow the rules. We are ALL human. IUD - What should I expect?

I opted for the Depo Provera shots. No daily pills, no Nuvaring (my daughter saw the commercial about the bad side effects of it and I stopped using it). Just once every three months, and that's it. I don't even have periods anymore. I'm loving that!!! And I haven't gained weight with it. It even says that average weight gain is five pounds. The weight I have gained is due to PCOS and not being able to exercise like I'd like to. Just thought I'd share an alternative to pills. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. Hi, I'm pre-op and am waiting for my approval from my insurance. I'm looking at Dr. Keith to be my surgeon. I've been reading reviews and just wanted to know if anyone is a patient of Dr. Keith, or are thinking of him being their surgeon. Any info is appreciated.
  24. As I understand it, osteoarthritis is a joint degenerative disease. So, the losing weight is great. But the exercise we are expected to do before and after surgery, walking, is one of the worst things we can do with this disease, as told to me by my Orthopaedic doctor. Being on the elliptical, stationary bike, or Water aerobics is much better for the joints. Maybe changing the exercise to those mentioned above, and stepping up on your supplements can begin to slow down the rate of degeneration of your joints. I have osteoarthritis and chondromalatia patella and osteophytes. I'm preop and I have tried to be careful with how much walking I do. I've been able to keep the condition of my knees pretty good by that and supplementation. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
