Songinmysoul: I am in the SAME boat - And I am about on the same timeline. I was banded 1/9/08 and had my fill about 2 1/2 weeks ago and go back on March 6th - I am STUCK at 16 lbs. Nothing else since my fill and a little before. I feel NO restriction - I know I can eat too much. I need the band to help me - I mean I did not get the band because I am good at CONTROLING my eating - I need help! Like everyone else here. I am at 2.4CCs in a 10 band - So, next time I go, I am going to ask for a VERY liberal fill. I don't care if I am miserable for a few days - its worth it if I start losing again. Feel free to Private Message me if you want to talk about it more - again - SAME SITUATION

Hi there, I just wanted to let you know that everyone is SO different. I was thinking that recovery was going to be a breeze, and I was not really prepared for the amount of pain I was in and how difficult it was for me to move around. My husband had to literally pull me off the couch for the first few days. Everyone handles it differently, However, I would be worried about the fever :/ Definitely call the doc

I have my consult tomorrow....any advice??
Sunshine08 replied to Startingover!'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, if you are worried about not weighing enough, Drink lots of water -and eat some salty things - this will REALLY help you retain the water - that adds major pounds to the scale. Good luck! -
You can take one the next day

Saltine Crackers??????????
Sunshine08 replied to WendyRae's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there I have eaten crackers with NO problems. Once they are in your mouth - they get extremely mushy. I was fine - I would think you should be too. I am just 2 1/2 weeks out - -
Post-op: So depressed... so lost
Sunshine08 replied to adorkbl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi L.A. I just wanted to let you know that you can be on meds with the band. I have been on Cymbalta for anxiety and depression for over a year, and I still take it - I was banded just over 2 weeks ago, and I just open up the capsule and put it on the back of my tongue - so it can be done. I can definitely relate. This surgery really makes you stare your food problems in the face - whether its boredom, emotions, you really learn alot about yourself. I am SO sorry you are feeling down, are you still in pain? -
Reaction to being "severly obese"
Sunshine08 replied to kat_in_GA's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG! I know EXACTLY how you feel. HUGE HUGE HUGE wakeup call to hear severely obese. EEK. But we are on our ways to gaining control, just think of that. -
Hi there - I am on Cymbalta too, 60mg.j THEY CAN BE OPENED. All the capsule does is dissolve in your stomach anyway. It is NO different if you open it. All I do, is open up the capsul, put the granules on the back of my tongue and take a drink of juice. I cannot taste it at all! My doc said not to take the pill. I think I could without a problem - but I didn't want to try it.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Sunshine08 replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
L.A. I am so happy to hear that you are doing good. I am just wondering if anyone moved on to mushies/soft solid foods after 11 days. I did really well on liquids for about a week - and then went to mashed potatoes, yogurt, pudding, etc. and did very well. I have not thrown up or gotten stuck once, So, I have bravely been moving onto a few other things. Like a crab cake, and some fat free beans. Has anyone else done this? I know Dr. K's main concern is that you don't throw up. The nutritionist has stricter guidelines, I know. Just curious. Mostly I am on full liquids and liquids, but i have had a few bites of softer solids and seem to be doing well. -
They Just Don't Understand
Sunshine08 replied to Xfballplayer72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry, but I have to interject about the "too young" talk. So many people who have this surgery, or gastric bypass, are so happy after and say "I only wish I'd done it sooner". Like those years spent heavy were lost or something. We know ourselves and know our bodies. We know if we have a problem with food and weight. These things happen as kids. I am young too, and one doctor told me I was a little young for such a drastic decision. I feel the opposite. Life is short - if you can do something in your power that you feel will make your life better, why wait? Especially when your health is at stake. Congrats on your decision football player. Obviously your girl loves you and it does not matter to her or she would not be there. You are lucky. I feel the same support from my hubby and its SO important. Good luck -
Sorry, I agree with Angelica If you can force those things down - you can also get fat free yogurt, low calorie pudding, low cal soup and crystal light down. Anyone who ate mashed potatoes, chesscake, and Icecream would either gain or definitely not lose weight.

Get my Band on 2/5, any helpful hints
Sunshine08 replied to Brooke's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Brookie If there is any advice I can give - its to gather as much help as possible. If you have a husband or S.O. make sure he takes a few days off to take care of you. For me, the pain was significant - and little movements just hurt, ya know? If you have children, make sure you have someone to help take care of them too. I was banded on 1/9 and my husband took 3 weekdays off work, then a weekend, so he was there for me and my son. It would have been really hard to do things otherwise.
