  1. So when I got my band I lost 100lbs in the first six months. By 9 months I had lost 127lbs and hit my goal weight. In total I went from 325lbs down to 198. Even though I had horrible heartburn and reflux I kept most of the weight off staying around 225lbs for about 6 years. I had my Fluid taken out to relieve the heartburn and acid reflux and immediately gained weight. I ended up at 299.8lbs the day after my revision surgery from band to sleeve. I lost weight pretty quick after my revision surgery and dropped back down to about 275. That was on June 7th. I'm about 5-6 weeks out and I've lost lost another few pounds. Today I was 171.8lbs. I can't figure out what's different this time. Is it because my metabolism is slower now? I read recently about how contestants on the biggest loser had slower metabolisms after they lost all of their weight. This makes me think that losing weight and then gaining back really slowed my metabolism down. I know when I got my band I eliminated about 95% of bread, rice, and Pasta from my diet and wonder if this could be what's hurting me. My recovery has been a little slower this time because I've had some drainage from my old port site so I haven't been quite as active as quickly as I was the first time with my band. So, anyone else have slower weight loss with their sleeve than with their band after revision? Any thoughts or ideas on what I should do or should I just be more patient? I would love to hear some insights. Thanks!

    Frequent Nausea?

Does anyone else have frequent nausea with their sleeve? I'm over 2 months out and eating normally now but I get nausea on a regular basis. I can't quite narrow it down to any one thing. Sometimes I'll get it with my Vitamins and sometimes with food. It just seems kind of random.

    Anyone with RLS out there?

I get RLS really bad from the trazodone I take to help me sleep. My doctor prescribed mirapex to help and it makes a huge difference.

    Drinking before eating

Best thing for me is drinking until I eat, not drinking while I eat, and then waiting 30 minutes after I eat before drinking again. Never have any problems with this regiment.

    I made a mistake.

Don't have anything after midnight or whatever the instructions say and you'll be fine. I ate pizza the day before surgery and I didn't die

    Alcohol Addiction

This is very common with weight loss. You've traded one addiction for another. You used food to cope and now that you lost that coping mechanism you have turned to alcohol. I highly recommend seeing a counselor. This is still early and you can definitely bounce back from this and get healthy. Good luck my friend.

    Newly sleeved. Slow loss

Darling, don't get discouraged. I too went from band to sleeve and I'm having a hard time not comparing my first weight loss to my current weight loss. I lost 100lbs in six months with the band. I lost the first week or two with the sleeve and immediately hit a stall. I've started exercising again and I'm seeing some slight movement on the scale but nothing like when I was banded. Even though my weight isn't falling off like before, I can see a difference in how clothes are fitting. So keep your chin up and make adjustments. You might even consider doing measurements because maybe you're toning more but not moving the scale. Also, are you taking your Vitamins? My weight started to go down more when I started taking my vitamins regularly as well. Good luck!

Discouraged by a stall? - Read this

I too hit a stall about a month after surgery. I wasn't able to exercise because I had serous fluid and kept 'leaking.' Now that I am healing more I have started exercising more consistently and I am seeing the benefits. While the scale isn't moving as fast as I'd like, my clothes are fitting better and people keep asking me if I've lost more weight, so I know it's working.

    How restricted is your sleeve?

Thats good to hear. Because the way i feel, i want as much restraint as possible. How far out are you? Sent From Galaxy Note 5 using the BariatricPal App I'm only a month and 10 days out. I revised from the band to the sleeve on June 7th.

    How restricted is your sleeve?

Not that they are the healthiest examples but to give you an idea of real world examples that everyone can relate to...I can eat one hot pocket and be full. Also, one McDonald's cheeseburger fills me up. The same with a six-piece nugget. I haven't been able to finish a single meal eating out since I got my sleeve.

    Bathroom situations

Definitely experiencing the diarrhea problem As for Protein shakes they cause my stomach to have a fit. I think it might be the whey protein. I try to get all of my protein in from food.

    7 weeks post op

I feel your frustration. I had revision surgery from band to sleeve on June 7th and I just feel like I should be losing faster. I lost 25lbs in the first couple of weeks but the last 3 weeks I've only lost 3lbs. It's a bit disappointing because when I had my band I lost weight a lot more consistently. I'm trying to exercise more and make some adjustments to see if I can kickstart the weight loss again. Damn slow metabolism.

Slower weight loss second time around?

You're right. If I hadn't had surgery I'd still be 300lbs and gaining with no end in sight. With my band I lost so quickly the first time that I guess I'm a little worried that I won't be able to have the same loss that I did before. While I'm glad to not be 300lbs, I'd rather keep losing and not stay at 270lbs or thereabouts.

Slower weight loss second time around?

I lost 100lbs in the first six months with my band. The next 3 months I lost another 27lbs for a total of 127lbs in 9 months.
  17. Not much scar tissue for me and I think the surgery took between 2-4 hours.
  18. I was told they would determine whether I would have it in one or two surgeries by the amount of scar tissue I had from my band. The scar tissue wasn't bad so they did it in one surgery.

    Throwing up

I had surgery on June 7 and haven't felt like throwing up once. My doc did prescribe anti-nausea meds so it must be common though.

    Did anyone experienced bleeding incisions?

I had black blood coming out of mine. You can take pics and send to doc if you are worried. Warning signs to look out for are puss or putrid smells. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. Gall bladder problems are always a risk whether you have weight loss problems or not. I've had lots of friends lose tons of weight and never have gall bladder problems. I'd say your chances are pretty low. Just pay attention to what you are eating post-op and avoid fried foods like the plague. I wouldn't put off the surgery if it was me. Good luck with the grad work. I just finished my degree back in March. You'll be so glad when you're done!

    Need help with puréed stage

My favorite thing was to take ricotta, garlic powder, spaghetti sauce, and mozzarella cheese and microwave it. Yum!

    How long between each bite?

Always put your utensil down between each bite and never get your next bite ready while you are chewing.

    This is Horrible...

I was hungry pretty quickly after surgery. It was definitely hunger pain and not head hunger. I just tried to keep my mind off of it the best I could. Distract yourself and drink whatever they'll let you, Water, broth, whatever you can.

My lap 7-year lap band journey!

Thanks bayou. So far I'm really enjoying my band. However, I enjoyed my lap band at first too though so it's a little too early for me to hang the Mission Accomplished banner. Lol.
