My husband went to WLS 20 years. Overweight his entire life. I supported him fully as the calls to Rescue we’re becoming more frequent with his diabetes, heart, BP and sleep apnea. In fact, I qualified for the sleeve with my diabetes, asthma and HBP. He was scared. I went first. It was a piece of cake, a few hours in the hospital, no pain pills, and walking a mall a few days later. My husband knows this surgery saved his life. He is down 100 lbs, He loves living, , traveling, and buying clothes. I was only SCARED he would NOT have the surgery!

five years post sleeve. I started losing my short thin hair at 5 months. It lasted two years before some regrowth. I was forced to buy a wig, lifesaver two years. I did everything right with Biotin, vitamins, protein, quit coloring my hair, used the fiber crappy thing to sprinkle in your hair. Lost hair at my temple which never came back. My hair is manageable the past two years, but still fragile. I lost 18 lbs. in the at 6 months. My hair is now coming out like crazy again. I don’t care what you do, it is the luck of the draw. You might never have this problem and wave it off, but some of us will always have a hair problem. I wear a visor a lot, and have my wigs handy.

The distant Thanksgiving memory of my husband and I on a liquid diet, me, after the Nov. 18 sleeve, and my husband before his Dec. 6 sleeve, is just a memory. I do remember us both sipping puréed mild chili for Christmas. It was delicious!

I spent 8 hours total in the hospital, got home, slept, and drove to the store the next day at age 67. 3 days later drove to a large mall, and window shopped. It was a relaxing time, no worries with food. Get a friend to spend the night if you are worried.

Seriously I applaud anyone with the strength to keep going. I am at 190 and the scales refuse to move. On the positive note, my husband lost 100 lbs and I am the happiest wife on the universe because he would not have done the sleeve if i had not led him into it. I had diabetes, HBP and asthma, which qualified me. My 70 year old husband is thin and not dieting for the first time In his entire life. Years of watching him starve, Diet, be made fun of, make me so thankful for the VSG! And have not had to call Rescue in four years, thank you Jesus. Diabetes was killing him. Good luck all!

If once didn’t solve my weight problem, damned if I would do it again. I would not go through the hair loss, vitamin deficiencies, etc. I’m done.

It gets worse. I starve myself, no carbs in this house, and I cannot lose a pound after regaining 30 lbs.

Same here. Four years post surgery. I went to 160, now at 190 two years. I could not eat any less. No carbs in my household. Feel bloated constantly, feel I am getting fat in my upper body I never had, including stomach. Tried an organic clean diet and gained weight. Typical day is yogurt, boiled egg, cheese stick, cabbage salad, piece of protein meat for dinner. Lost so much hair I don’t want to go back for more surgery. Had to take Thiamine injections six months. Feeling screwed.

If you had said you were In the UK or another Country it might have made sense. I have worked in the C.ourts 44 years and that comment just isn’t something we do here. It was comical on my end, not rude.

Staying away from any form of bread is the best thing you can do for yourself. That includes pasta and potatoes of any kind.

That would be a joke calling your car insurance for permission to drive. So long as you aren’t under the influence of opioids or liquor make your own decisions. You are more likely to get MRSA or Staph in the hospital, so thankful our surgeon made everything super simple, surgery went well. We had a surgeon we trusted implicitly. Also at our age we make our own decisions based on our health and good judgment.

My husband and I were 67 when sleeved 4 years ago. I spent 8 hours total in the hospital, I didn’t need a thing. I went home and took l pain pill and that was all. I drove to the store the second morning after surgery. I walked in the mall for two hours, four days after the sleeve. The only thing I can recommend is don’t stock up on stuff. I threw out a ton of stuff we never got around to using, like protein shakes and lots of expiration dates. I remember Torani sugar free syrups, all flavors, worked wonders with vanilla shakes. I never even felt I had surgery, if it hadn’t been for the little bandages on my stomach. We were never nauseated, it was just a good experience. The anticipation was the worst thing.

I regained 30 lbs. no matter what I eat the scale won’t move. I eat less than I ever have. I have gained fat in my upper arm/breast area, and in my upper stomach. Weird.

Winter in Florida, walk the mall, walk the beach. Read by the pool. Enjoy the yard and outdoor work. Too much to do, just look around. Paint the inside of your house, currently doing at my pace!!!!

My husband has kept 100lbs and kept it off 4 years. He sipped low salt broth a lot between meals. You need to focus on a hobby and believe me there will come a time when you won’t have restriction. Make this time count now.
