I have a secret and need advice - for the ladies
Pescador replied to kranky813's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Your life matters much more than the way your boobies look, or your weight. God bless! -
Trust me you will soon be eating anything you want to so enjoy the restrictions now. Since the sleeve 2 1/2 years ago I have learned not to be tempted. No bread, cookies, crackers, pasta, or sweets in my house. You will still have the urge to sample taste believe me. There are days I am thankful not having bread because I crave it in my mind. I allow myself Mac and Cheese at Thanksgiving or Christmas because it slides on down. Mashed potatoes not allowed. It is so easy to slip back, no matter what you think now. Still struggling because retirement is like being on vacation all your life, and traveling and eating out constantly is a challenge.

I do not know when you had WLS. I used to love an occasional beer but not any more. Wine is smooth and gives me heartburn. Margaritas made me gain weight. I want to drink but I am still trying to find that perfect alcohol. I do not know when you had WLS. I used to love an occasional beer but not any more. Wine is smooth and gives me heartburn. how long till the swelling was gone?
Pescador replied to Mrs_O's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still notice some days are different than others, 2 1/2 years post sleeve. I can eat and get pain easily. Other days, no problem. -
I cannot imagine. But seriously good for you! I move like a turtle!

Wow, Haha

how long till the swelling was gone?

Not sure how you would know when swelling goes down. I would just follow the surgeons plan. It all works out. -
How did you deal with changes to your hair during regrowth
Pescador replied to Djmohr's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Cut the frizz. I had to wear a wig two years. Finally getting my pretty hair again. Biotin is a joke. We all have different problems and glad you did pretty good!!!! -
Six strong alcoholic drinks.

How long were you in the hospital post op?
Pescador replied to scoots's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agree! Any man having this surgery should try to talk the surgeon not to catheterize. It is about a 45 minute surgery, the sleeve. My husband had terrible problems with the catheter. His surgeon has done two more hernia surgeries on him and agrees, no more catheters!!!! -

Where did you have yours done at? I'm having mine done in Dallas in about 2 weeks. I will also be in and out in one day. This doesn't seem to be the norm. Done in Florida. Had a hernia too. Excellent surgeon, no complications though. I was 66, about three years ago. It was smooth sailing all the way. I am more worried about staph and MRSA in these hospitals. -
Food & Social Life after surgery
Pescador replied to Rvamom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband and I were about 67 when we were sleeved. We go out more now than we did before surgery. We share a plate and no one cares. We sometimes don't eat but we still socialize and have fun. If you want to wait like we did until you have horrible diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, neuropathy, and other problems, then wait. Once the comorbidities set in life changes. I would encourage anyone to take control of their life and change. Start living. Best wishes. -
Went through that and used blankets and socks. Summer came soon enough. Gotta love Florida.
-
Also, I think reading the posts might make you think twice about sharing with others. I remember a post way back where a HR person was told at the poster's job, and the HR person told people. Nothing seems sacred.

Those six people will tell six more HanSolo1977. Then six more will six more. Human nature. I never thought it possible not to tell until my precious husband intervened. Quiet about our business and thankful.

Couple of food questions :)
Pescador replied to Mrs_O's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say take small bites and see if you tolerate it. I remember being afraid to eat salads until told and wow! Was easily eating salads. Not much we cannot eat with the sleeve. -
How long were you in the hospital post op?
Pescador replied to scoots's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was at the hospital mid morning, surgery at l pm, and home by 6 pm. Had one pain pill at home. The more you are hospitalized the more apt to catch something. Call his office if you have to! I was in the grocery store two days after the sleeve. Browsing and feeling great. -
My mistake telling people...
Pescador replied to bsanders's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe you can steer clear of those individuals, and now be a little more private. My husband determined the sleeve was HIS business and it keeps our life uncomplicated. I respect him deeply and I don't tell. I was sleeved too. -
It is simply called Puritan's Pride Hair Vitamins. My husband bought me several bottles about five months ago and the results have made me super happy. Finally I can fix my hair and quit wearing my beautiful wig I have worn almost two years.
-
One thing I do know. You can change you but you will never change him or anyone else. I do not think he will stop treating you badly if you become really thin. He has established a pattern of abuse and treatling you badly. Hope for the best. But Always have a backup plan.

Does any one get tons of emotions after surgery?
Pescador replied to anams820's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Keep busy. The emotions come with the surgery, do I remember those early tears lol!!!! It does pass, thank goodness!!! -
I think Biotin is a fraud, lol. I took it over a year with NO results. Only after 11/2 years did I switch to Hair Vitamins and finally seeing a difference. Even the texture of my hair is not the same. Finally over 2 years have passed and I am somewhat accepting of my hair.

There are liquid vitamins at the health food stores, or on Amazon. My favorite is Source of Life Liquid Gold.

HAD AN EPISODE WITH A BOILED EGG

All this will pass. I am 2 1/2 years post sleeve. Just keep living and move on to something else!
