Losing support from a loved one

I have learned a lot in my 71 years. I suggest that you go to your surgeons support group and let yourself be the strong and supportive one for YOU. Never depend on anyone for your needs. Unless you have a significant other. You will be fine!!!!!

Please any advice would be so helpful

I am so sorry to hear about the problems you have. I know carrying a lot of weight for a long period wreaks havoc on the spine and body, including the feet. The diabetic neuropathy that usually affects overweight people is a horrible way to live. My husband still is diabetic and has had foot dropsy before the sleeve, which affects his gait to the point he has trouble walking. But at 200 lbs it is easier than 300 lbs. I am off Metformin since the sleeve, but it seems my feet bother me more than anything. Long term obesity will shorten our lives with many health problems, and I hope you can get all of this under control, and your weight loss helps with the problems. Good luck!

    Sharing with coworkers??

This is my point. One person. My husband listen to nosy Rosie neighbors gushing about our weight loss til I want to scream. If they knew we had the sleeve they would never shut up. Just like our business to remain OUR business.

    Sharing with coworkers??

My husband and I were sleeved 4 years ago and even his 32 yo son does not know. We were not bedridden. We were in and out of the hospital in 8 hours and have been eating healthy and have lost weight. Too many people tell one person, then it spreads like wildfire. Nobody will be able to tell. I walked the mall four days after the sleeve. I am now 71 years old. We are around people all the time. We just eat less.

Don't stockpile anything. I drove to the grocery after 8 hours in hospital. Ended up throwing out cases of expired shakes and protein powder. No matter what you do do not compare your progress to anyone. Stalls happen. Watch tv and don't obsess over them. Don't weigh every day. The less people you tell the less drama you encounter. Best wishes.

    Hair loss

Hair loss 5 months to two years. A wash and wear wig saved my life. I took every hair vitamin, shampoos, Biotin, bought that hair powder and it went to The trash. Note, a wig has to be tried on. NEVER buy one online.

    Weight Regain

We hardly have any restriction at all. I went back on protein shakes. I eat l meal a day. We have no bread or pasta in our home in 4 years. No carbs. My husband lost 100 lbs and can eat anything. Our age is 70. I just bought a treadmill so hoping I can get moving since we can't get out and walk. Some nights we have steamed cabbage for dinner. Lots of fish. I will not give up!

    Weight Regain

After a year things changed. Surgeon put me with a life coach. My husband and I share a dinner when we eat out once a month. We went on the Beyond Diet, all organic and healthy and I gained 10 lbs. dieting just like I used to do. 4 years out and I have regained 30 lbs. I bought an Air Fryer. We eat vegetables for dinner. I eat an apple for one day. So sick of this.
  11. Cottage cheese, protein shakes, SF Torani shakes for flavoring, SF pudding, yogurt (was told the one with about 8 grams or less of sugar, soups. Won't need much else. I spent 8 hours in the hospital, and the next day drove myself to the grocery. In four days I walked approximately three blocks. I thought I would be down awhile, bought way too much in bulk, learned I hate protein bars, and half the stuff became outdated and ended up in the trash. At first a boiled egg would keep me for hours, or a protein shake. Unfortunately all that changes and you can eat anything and everything. Good luck!

    DEPRESSED AND DISCOURAGED

It takes a lot of guts, strength and perseverance to keep going. I am four years and lost all motivation a year ago when I started gaining. No matter what I do, I cannot lose now. I would really encourage you to stay in a support group and get involved with positive things like yoga and friends to exercise with. Good luck.
  13. I had the sleeve at 66. The struggle is still real four years later. No matter how little I eat, no matter no more diet soda, bread, carbs or sweets. My husband has restriction, I do not.

    Pain meds

Well for sure people get addicted to the Oxys. Not surprising you might feel withdrawal. Beware of it.

    Pain meds

Glad I had no pain after 8 hours at the hospital. I took l pain pill. The oxycodone messed with my head after a knee replacement and never help my pain.
  16. It would never show in your feed without you allowing it. Move on. People won't notice. All you say is I looked at eating plans if someone asks. Good luck. No one except our daughter knows we were sleeved 4 years ago and we like it that way.

Filled Up! 8 weeks post op

Of course. That is the great reason we had surgery. I only wish I had the restriction now. It is like dieting all over again, even though our diet is healthy, the weight stops coming off and it is so frustrating. Enjoy the now!

    Recovery timeline?

After 8 hours in the hospital for the sleeve I took one pain pill at home. I drove to the grocery store after one day and walked a large shopping mall four days later, of course driving myself. I was raring to go!!!! I was 67 then.
  20. Yes. It passes. Good luck.
  21. My husband never used his CPap after the sleeve. It has been four years and all is great!!!

    Stall at 8 months WTH

I lost to 160 and gained 20 lbs. two years and the scale won't move. My surgeon says I am where I need to be. I don't like it, but we eat healthy, right, and I still push.

    Unjury protein

I use the Torani SF in my coffee (hazelnut), and in yogurt sometimes.
  25. I was 67 when sleeved. I remember being told not to lift anything heavy, but I was shopping and walking the mall four days after the sleeve. I needed no pain pills after I was released from 8 hours in the hospital. So thankful I was feeling great.
