Three years out and many hundreds plus of posts I ignore and move on. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

We learn lessons. It is hard when you all have children and those type foods in your homes. I am older and have no distractions of any foods in my home. Please be cautious about eating pizza, breads and foods without sitting down and slowly eating. I choked on a tiny piece of chicken when I was okayed for it. It was so scary so I understand. Retrain yourself to walk away from upsetting times, and smell the roses. Best wishes. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I was 68 when sleeved. 12 hours in the hospital, no pain pills at home. I walked the mall four days later. It was amazing. I felt fabulous. Don't overdo it but unless you have problems, and don't have to do strenuous, work, take a few light snacks and enjoy yourself. Otherwise if you have time off, lie on the beach!

Proud that you have not given up. The sleeve was great for me and my husbasd. Easiest surgery ever despite the fear. Life is gtreat. Be good to yourself. We are 70 and three years out. We are having the best time of our lives. Good luck!

Are you having another lap and? Good luck, I am sure this has not been easy for you, but we all strive to be the best we can be! Keep up the hard but great journey!

I promise you when you get older you will have lived and learned. I love my old age, I used to think it mattered if people liked me, now I really and truly know what matters in life. Cheers to you not letting this make your life miserable!!
-
No drama if you did not tell anyone you were having surgery. No ones business. You are sweating small stuff with people who do not matter. Life is short, figure this out, move on, and do not worry why anyone does not like you. My husband and I told 2 family members. Sigh. Best decision ever. ❤️

Keep pushing then find your relaxation. I am envious of your ability!

Soon this will all be a distant memory. So many of us here had the shoulder pain and other pains, etc. when in doubt go to the ER. My worst pain was choking on a small bite of chicken six weeks out. Life gets so much better and the fears dissipate with weight loss and a little time.

Took Biotin 1 1/2 years. IMHO it was worthless. I lost a lot of hair, especially around my face. I cut it all off and wore a wig a year only when I went out. Thank God it was a good one. It took 2 years for my hair to be normal again. I would do it again but hate my hair loss. Hope you are luckier. Also, I took every great vitamin, even consulted with a compound pharmacist.

Such a personal thing to share immediately. Go to dinner, eat lightly, such as Soup. This guy may bore you to death. If not, have fun! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I felt the weight of the world was lifted and went to the malls, even though I never shop. I walked the grocery and really enjoyed relaxing and reading labels, for meal planning. Scanned the Internet for recipes. Took a friend to brunch and sipped a nice brothy Soup. I think if you get outside, even in a lounge chair, it will rejuvenate you. Good luck! Keep busy and enjoy life. It will get better and better! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I think we covered every way to take the pill. How amazing that so many doctors are different. Even such a simple thing as a pill. Leaves us to figure out what is easiest for us, right? -
How long after surgery before you feel "yourself "
Pescador replied to NikkiRT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was walking the mall four days after the sleeve. I was 68 then and needed no pain pills. Plan your meals carefully and relax. Have a good time. -
I overbought lots of things and they ended up in the trash. Protein powders, awful chicken soup powders that clumped, protein cheese, you name it. Plus the cartons of handy protein drinks.. Even protein bars on Amazon. Lived and learned.

I was sleeved over a week before Thanksgiving. I survived with sips of puréed chili I made. My husband also enjoyed it with me. Try to skip all that food and try a healthy version you both can enjoy. Best wishes and happy birthdays! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Three years after surgery, no bread, potatoes, rice, or Pasta in our house. Fact of life. I miss them terribly but would overeat and my husband would not eat. It helps me. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I remember my first bite of chicken which got stuck. Running around thinking of calling rescue. Thank God I was okay. Be safe newbies, and take caution. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Consider this. I am a tell all. My husband of 25,years is private. Very. He decided when we were sleeved he didn't want the world to know. I thought that was impossible but his 31 year old son never knew. My 50 year old daughter knows. We have been together through this and it has been great that we don't have to discuss our weight and surgery with anyone. Such a sigh of relief. To each his own. At 67 we have changed our life, even though we cannot walk very far or exercise. We are so happy.

Is there no one over 70 who has been sleeved?!
Pescador replied to Hevnbound's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The hernias, heartburn, and small issues are easy to deal with. You never have to worry about meal planning if you have yogurt, cottage cheese, rotisserie chicken, smoked salmon, tuna, veggies, PB2, Proteins, etc. on hand. I love this simple life after a lifetime of cooking hearty meals. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

Mourning the loss of food for comfort?

Dub, you have done an amazing transformation! My husband had been large his entire life. After decades, he finally got rid of the 4x, 3x, 2x, and even 1x clothes. I am so happy he has been able to change his life. We would do it again in a heartbeat!
