Really Regretting it.
Pescador replied to SweetStarlight's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are that sick remember there are no doctors here. Go to the ER. If you are not that sick, then see your surgeon. You should not feel like this. My husband and I had nothing but complete joy after surgery. Wishing you the best. -
Feeling like I should see my doctor.

One year after surgery I got sick like that for 10 hours on some terrible medicines for gout. I went to the ER and was admitted overnight. I was so sick I could not hold my head up. DEhydration. When in doubt get to the ER. -
Consider that it may be depression. Of course he MUST eat. I would get him back to the surgeon for a serious discussion!

What do you tell the waiter/server?
Pescador replied to IveGotThePower's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No explaining. For three years we order one meal and they don't blink. We share and still have take home for the next day. So much fun to pay for one meal. Some people get fluffy wondering why you don't drink the glass of water though! -
I would be careful with that. Three years later our surgeon has told us to limit the spicy foods. A lot of heartburn, Omeprazole. I sure love spicy and hot though. Never had severe acid heartburn til now.

Not all of us had chewable multivitamins.

I am over wondering if my husband will die if he gained the weight back because his blood sugar would crash to 40 again. But I know this won't happen because he has lost 100 lbs and he is diligent about his diet. You could not force any fast food junk down his throat. I am over worrying again that he and I both will gain weight back and be sludges on the sofa, taking 20 medications again. Because we will never eat fast food.

We can gain or lose three lbs. in a day. Mornings you weigh less. If you are stressing over this the stalls after surgery might devastate you. It is a tiny setback, eat according to plan and walk in the park when you stressed! Weighing every day is hard on people too. Best of luck!!!

No longer stalled. But eating food is VERY challenging.
Pescador replied to Hiraeth's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hiraeth, sending prayers your way. Hoping your Mom might be able to help you out. The good thing is you will eat less, and need less food. BTW the hospital could have been put on hold, like send me a bill!!!!!!! Best wishes, you will be okay! -
Husband & Wife sleeved on same day.
Pescador replied to jvleeuw's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The best part is that together food is not first and foremost. Love boating all day with items such as water, a banana, tea and maybe a beef stick. We drive six hours constantly , and don't stop to eat across Florida. I keep foods in the fridge for my husband, and we both eat when we are ready. No more meals and meal planning. I am back on shakes now, and have lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks even though we ate out a few times in Perdido Key. We are 69 and 70. We bought kayaks last year. We put in a pool and spent our morning swimming. Before we were sleeved, we were pathetically in terrible health, with the diabetes, HBPP, asthma, etc. our A1c is perfect and we are off some medications. Instead of waiting to die, we are living. I quit calling Rescue to my husband, and led him straight into the surgery. He is very thankful. We would do this again in a heartbeat. -
Husband & Wife sleeved on same day.
Pescador replied to jvleeuw's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My husband and I were sleeved two weeks apart. Our surgeon was cautious so I could care for him if needed. I led my husband into this, as we had gone to seminars 15 years ago for him. When I developed asthma, HBP, and diabetes, I was eligible for the surgery. He is down 100 lbs and is awesome. It has been life changing. -
how long does the process take?
Pescador replied to mariah100707's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Everyone and all doctors are different, so please talk to your doctor's office staff for information. Every insurance is different too. The process seems long but it will as quickly as you prepare for surgery. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
I tried all good and or expensive remedy, and lost most of my hair. Started at five months. Lasted 1 1/2 years. Finally I have hair again. A great wig, and visors helped me through the bad time. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I would ask a doctor about the endoscopy, not us average humans! I always keep eggs on hand so when you need something soft, and you don't have food, you have eggs. Also keep Protein shakes on hand. Lifesavers!! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Taking pills right after surgery
Pescador replied to julsfit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
They sell pill cutters. You can cut big ones in half then in fourths. You just take them all slow and should be fine. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
It started at five months for me.

The fear is the worst part. I spent 10 hours in the hospital and went home with no pain pills needed. Went to the grocery the next day. Went to a huge mall four day later". I felt wonderful. I could have worked in two days later if needed. I was so afraid and like everyone that posts here we squirm and worry about something going wrong. This has been the easiest procedure in my life. Could not be happier. My husband had so many health problems I was terrified. He is a new man at 69, and life is so good.

I love everything I loved before. Three years after the sleeve I am doing shakes again every day.
-
Yes I did purée the ground beef and tomatoes. We had chili for Thanksgiving, after my sleeve. I craved spicy foods, and I was ble to get my fix with the chili and also with a couple teaspoons of refried beans with taco sauce. YUmmy!

Just a thought. After three years I am loving herbal teas. It would be very easy to soothe yourself while sipping a nice cup of hot tea in a beautiful China cup.

Eating too much? Metformin?
Pescador replied to juneau's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was taken off Metformin immediately after surgery, in the hospital. My A1C has gotten better and better. Thank God. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Never puréed anything. Between shakes, refried Beans with my taco sauce, Soups, cottage cheese, small nibbles, I sure didn't want to eat baby food. Some people say they did eat baby food. Homemade chili was our staple since it was November and December. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Keep busy and follow your surgeons plan. It will soon be a distant memory! It works! CRystal Light and Dasani sweetener adds great flavors to Protein shakes. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I credit all the best Vitamins and hair products to still having great hair loss for 1 1/2 years. You either will or you won't. I sure thought I would not. Thankful I bought a great wig. Three years later all is well. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

HELP! I'M SUPER NERVOUS
Pescador replied to Nibria56's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditch the scale, eat as you were advised, and relax. We all had stalls. We sometimes think the fat will fly off overnight. It doesn't. Keep up the good work. It works!!!!! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
