I can hardly believe this. I took Biotin the placebo for 1 1/2 years wore wigs and visors. Finally I have hair again. It has been three years and I am now pushing myself to get some more weight off, reverting to shakes. Scares me to think I might go through this again.

lost hair for 1 1/2 years, and I hope it never happens again.

We have a recent post with many people posting about vitamins, but you really should ask your surgeon. Good luck!

Traveling with Supplements & Protein Powder
Pescador replied to kharenzhee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you have a carry on bag I would find it easier to carry a six pack carton of protein shakes, or 2 six packs. It is much easier, since I cannot for the life of me unclump protein powders in three years without a blender. -
Headache Medicine After Surgery
Pescador replied to buckeyegirl76's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Advil is not allowed, only Tylenol. I used to have terrible headaches but now I do not for some reason. I am looking into essential oils I keep hearing about. I also have hay fever, and all the Cold Medicines are not allowed. -
Really Regretting it.

Time between approval and surgery
Pescador replied to ryan_86's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ryan, my husband had the sleeve at 66 and has gone from 320 to 200 lbs. he is 6' 2". He is tall and lean now. He has been fat since a baby, weight loss seminars 15 years, scared to death. Glad you are not waiting til you are older like us, because the diabetes, HBP, sleep apnea, heart blockage, asthma, etc. we're killing us. It is the greatest thing on earth to be 70 now and boating, swimming, kayaking, and traveling instead of dying day by day on the sofa. Be strong and trust the process. It has been the best thing we ever did for our health. Good luck! -
My husband drinks a gallon of Crystal Light a day. His only vice. Three years sleeved. No coffee or soda.

Our pharmacist said this is the best and all you need. However, in three years I have added Black Cohosh, a hair vitamin my husband found (Not Biotin which was worthless for 1 1/2 years). Our surgeon has monitored our blood work religiously and added Thiamine shots for me, now tells me no more B6. I think it will be a constant part of our routine, to either add something, or take away something. Your NUT can advise, but I am done with buying the expensive products in the surgeons office right now.
-
I was cautious but before four months our NUT wanted me to begin small salads. I have not stopped veggies since. We eat every vegetable you can imagine.

SleeveG, you take it once a day. The taste does not bother me at all. I just liked the liquid, and a bottle lasts forever in the fridge.

Feeling like I should see my doctor.

C Diff can be serious. It is a bacterial infection. I would seek a medical opinion. -
Did you ever have second thoughts?
Pescador replied to ALittleMe0914's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was more afraid of the worsening health complications than the surgery. I was afraid my husband would die from diabetes complications. He is extremely glad that I pushed us through the surgery process without fear, because it helped him cope. The alternative was awful. Seriously, we started living after the sleeve. We are having an amazing happy life. -
Search! I bought about 4 on the Internet and they are awful. Wasted $.
-
Make sure you try the wig on. I learned! I also wore a visor on weekends or going to the store, and went without anything at home. We went on a cruise and the wig was a lifesaver.

From Florida, Medicare approval process for sleeve
Pescador replied to tamatoot12699's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband's sleep apnea and machine went away after the sleeve, his low blood sugars stopped, he is off some of his many blood pressure meds, and his insulin use was almost cut in half. The benefits of the sleeve have been amazing. I came off Metformin, we both have a healthy A1c, my asthma is controlled, my feet stopped swelling, I am not out of breath walking a block. I hope you qualify and get healthy! -
Having to lose 14-20lbs before surgery
Pescador replied to BeautifulSharifah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was so motivated and happy to be getting the sleeve that having shakes and eating according to plan was easy. Lost about 20 lbs. I kept busy in my downtime with Bariatric Pal, planning meals, keeping a notebook of things to try, reading labels, and cleaning closets and drawers. It worked! Good luck! -
Ten months out.......tried some Diet Pepsi.......
Pescador replied to Dub's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
i am thankful to have given up Diet Coke. I believe it contributes to bloating my belly. I also knew the bad things such as sodas being stored in hot warehouses, and effects on it. Love the info that it will clean your toilet. My fifty year addiction is over thank God! A bottle of water goes everywhere with me. -
I need help keeping this secret!
Pescador replied to laceemouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband is very private and insisted we tell no one. Even his 30 year old son has no idea. We took care of ourselves. I value my husband and his request. I gained a healthy respect for keeping my mouth shut because I want to live, not discuss our surgery with people. Over and over people rant about confiding with one friend who spreads the word. I even remember one person here who told HR at work, who shared the information. -
Kellie it might help to put your fork down between bites. I also need to do this.

I quit processing my hair, took Biotin the placebo, lol, for 1 1/2 years. From five months, and lasting for 1/12 years, my hair fell out, and thinned at my hairline. A great wig got me through it. I now have a healthy head of hair again. I would go easy on curling irons, coloring, and daily shampoos. .hopefully everyone might not lose their hair.

My husband tells our daughter not to inhale her food. She eats faster than anyone we know. I also think we need to teach them lol!
-
Relax and sip broth or hot tea. Also, I tried to keep busy. A teaspoon of refried beans was very satisfying and yummy. I havent had any since lol. Relax and sip broth or hot tea. Also, I tried to keep busy. A teaspoon of refried beans was very satisfying and yummy. I havent had any since lol.

Hand on your heart - how bad were the first few days after getting sleeved?
Pescador replied to skinnyjeansatlast's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 66 three years ago, I spent about 10 hours in the hospital, went home, took only one pain pill. Went to the grocery store the next day, walking slowly and reading labels. Walked through the mall four days later. I honestly wondered if I really had surgery, because I never had pain or nausea. It was so easy compared to some others' experiences.
