Why don't you run it by your NUT or surgeon. It depends on what is in the shake. I really like making my own. Good luck!

Going back to work

Don't lift anything. Take your food, Relax! Piece of cake! -
Thousands of us have struggled with the before and after surgery diets of shakes, soups, broths, etc., remember that. You will make it too, I promise. Keep busy and look toward the reward of good health and changing your life for the better.

Move on, life is short. You can only change the way you allow people to treat you. I just got off FB forever. FB is out of my happy life forever. Real friends are friends forever. Congrats and good luck!!

Disgusting question: Colds/Allergies
Pescador replied to Fredbear's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have hay fever in the South. Sneezing, runny nose and eyes. I have finally found a no name allergy pill that has helped me. You sure won't fill y,our stomach with any phlegm, etc. It will be in your lungs. Good luck, I have had no yearly bronchitis in three years since my sleeve. -
Focus on the positives not the negatives. Sounds like everything is moving along. It took years for us to get this way, so ...... Be patient!!! Forget the negatives in your small office and focus on yourself. Meditate the other women out of your head. In 20 years you won't even know these women, hopefully. My husband and I attended seminars for 15 years. The six month process awaiting the sleeve allowed our minds to adjust to having the surgery, researching it, and getting on Bariatric Pal to gain as much knowledge and insight as possible. Suddenly the six months passed and we are now three years out! There will be such joy in your life, so think positive and SMILE!!!!!! Best wishes!

Keep busy! Don't sit around. I focused on cleaning and rearranging my closet, getting rid of things I never wore, cleaning out drawers, making a food notebook with recipes for all stages, researching all types of Bariatric products. It totally made the time pass quickly, even cleaning my kitchen drawers and pantry!! Good luck!

Getting started with the journey!

Good luck! This has fully changed my husband's life and health. Also I had the sleeve with him. Three years out and loving it! -
Anyone else diagnosed with a hernia after sleeve?
Pescador replied to justhere4theshow's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So many different experiences here. My husband had 2 hernias repaired but luckily we have minimal acid reflux. Good luck, with a good doctor I pray. -
Type II Diabetes After Surgery
Pescador replied to SamPSUfan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Off Metformin immediately after surgery. My husband takes insulin once a day not twice. His blood sugar doesn't drop to 40 at night in three years. He has had ketoacidosis with a blood sugar of 747. Our A1c readings are excellent! -
We all had those pains, and will be over soon.

I will pray hard for you both tonight. God bless and make your life easier.

My husband loves the sweet Peach Tea Crystal Light, gag! I make it half the strength of his, but discovered Dasani sugar free drops, and with a tiny squirt of Coconut Pineapple, loving it.

Did you ever have second thoughts?
Pescador replied to ALittleMe0914's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I honestly think my husband would be bedridden or worse if we had not had the sleeve. Forty years of diabetes was killing him. Calling rescue when he was unconscious was killing me. Three years, such joy, better health, laughing in our doctor's office yesterday was great. I was dead inside at 230 lbs, swollen ankles, couldn't breathe from the asthma, so I couldn't walk. At age 70 now, 3 years later, I only wish we had the sleeve 20 years ago, or more. Don't wait until your health is declining to change your life. -
I had so much energy, and sorry you are not feeling it. I could barely sit still, and walked the grocery store just to read labels and browse slowly. Maybe you have a bug with a sore throat? Push yourself, it will definitely get better! Good luck! We are all so different.

Plenty of protein here with hair loss 1 1/2 years. It's a crapshoot!

Question after reading book rec. by Dr.
Pescador replied to ahappycamper's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
30 minute catheter with the sleeve surgery. Wasn't even aware of it. -
Everything is new and scary. Sip broths, etc, slowly, very slowly. It could be stress related. When in doubt always call your surgeon!!!!!

He is pre-op, not post-op.

My husband was 66, and was sleeved. He was at 230, and now 3 years later and so easy, is at at 213, 6'2". He has given up his lifelong habit of saving fat clothes of every size, and has become a clothes horse with more clothes than I could wear. He is active, boating, kayaking, and happy with the way he looks for the first time in his life. best wishes!

How long before you could go back to work? (desk job/non physical)
Pescador replied to ella37's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
At 66, one week, desk job, no lifting. Easy peasy. -
Did they provide you with an "expected" weight loss
Pescador replied to joei0005's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel it was totally up to me and my husband. Early on we found we could tolerate bites of most anything. Six months out we went on a cruise, then traveling, and I regained 20 lbs in a year. I am getting that off! It was up to ME! -
Post Operation Pain
Pescador replied to Cocoon2Butterfly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like others, I felt I had not had surgery. No side effects, nausea, pain. I was astounded that it was so non invasive. I was 66. No pain meds needed at home, just a little rest. -
Have you talked to your doctor? Three years since the sleeve, we avoid carbs. Our surgeon gave us a diet to follow. We sipped broth, lots of Crystal Light, and I am back on a protein shake a day. Hope you can figure this out! I do know losing is slow, and people here sometimes complain about the stalls. Good luck.

I think your excitement says it all. 70 years old, loving my three year old sleeve, and wish we could have done it 20 years ago, especially my husband. Life changing happiness and would do it every year if need be!
