My husband (and I) went to Seminars for fifteen years. Not comfortable until we found the sleeve surgery. A year before the surgery our health was getting worse. We have never regretted the sleeve three years ago and would definitely do it again. I have not had to call Rescue to my husband in three years. We can eat whatever we want with moderation, except things like Mac and cheese which would make us fat again. Not risking it. We have gotten used to small bites and small healthy meals. You can drink all day as much as you want, so leaving the drinks along while eating is no big deal.

How to make protein taste better ?
Pescador replied to biglady904's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I add Hershey's chocolate unsweetened powder to my vanilla or chocolate shakes, with one Stevia packet. I think there is 10 calories in a teaspoon of the powder. Add Crystal Light powders too, if you like their flavors. -
I was sleeved at 67 three years ago. I spent 8 hours in the hospital, and took one pain pill when I got home, and no pain after that. That was on a Monday, and I was walking in the mall four days later. Best thing I ever did for my health!

If you recently had surgery, can you focus on soft foods like cottage cheese, protein shakes, scrambled eggs? I hope you have someone to help you because this can be stressful. I wish you a great outcome and we are here to help you.

I cannot imagine that diet. I know you are strugglling and I hope you learn new foods and ways to eat. Where do you live, US? Some people in other countries don't have our foods. Your surgeon should have given you a diet plan. Your settings does not show your surgery date and it is helpful for us to know. There are so many Veterans here who have great knowledge. Good luck!

Feel like I'm missing something !

Surgeons differ. I had to get a monthly calendar to keep up with things, and even after surgery made nots about the food stages. We had a great coordinator who kept us on track. Good luck! -

I would say constant tracking of your food is the number one thing to keep you focused and accountable. Good luck!

I have GOT to get back on track
Pescador replied to madisunshine1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Get your game on! This is the opportunity of our lifetime to get healthy. It is simply a choice to eat right or eat crap. Three years post sleeve, no rice, bread, sugar, pasta, or junk in our home. I always eat before I leave home, always, or I might be tempted by something. I wish you the best! -
Please see the magazine article by Dr. Adeyeri! " Your Mind is the #1 Tool for Bariatric Weight Loss Success", which is on the right side of the screen. It is so well written. It might help you some. Good luck, take one day at a time.

Phase 1: 90 day diet, why am I always hungry.
Pescador replied to RedCheeks's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Look at the weight lost by so many members here. It really works. It is the one thing that has changed our life, when nothing else ever worked. You can keep struggling and drive through fast food lanes for anything, or you can step outside the box and take a risk for a new you. We were scared, but more afraid of the diabetes and health problems. You seriously CAN do this!!! -
Share Your Best Story of Someone Noticing Your Weight Loss

Our daughter saw my husband and I two months after the sleeve. She burst into great tears, because she has known the health struggles we have had, the endless extreme fasting, the $5,000 liquid shake plan for a year (twice). My husband is 69, and for the first time in his life, he is slim, trim and happy. No more WL seminars ever, like the past 15 years. -
Considering surgery
Pescador replied to Rycaitsmom's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I would write down specific questions for the Seminar. All insurances are different. Our surgeon had a wonderful staff who always took care of insurance. We did nothing. Good luck! Would do this again in a heartbeat! -
Welcome! You are in the right place.

Your surgeon has to decide that! Good luck girl!

I am thankful for the sleeve. I am thankful it allows my husband and I to participate in life instead of watching from our sofa. I am thankful for so many things due o the sleeve. Please get your head and heart straight and talk to your surgeon for professional help. My surgeon has a Life Coach on his staff who has helped me. I also get hungry, but I cannot allow anything to take me back 260 lbs. my husband and I lost. I wish you well.

Everyone is so different. We take an excess of good vitamins, Biotin for 1 1/2 years. Lost much hair at five months to another year. Low Thiamine, had to have shots weekly for a year. Now I am overloaded on B6 and cannot take anything with B6, even a multivitamin. We have 3 month blood tests between our primary doctor and our surgeon, even at three years post sleeve. Blessed to have doctors who are so diligent in looking out for us. Make sure you are on the right track with your blood work, regularly.

I can only recommend eating and chewing very slowly, no liquids to help the food slide down for sure. Sip, do not chug!!! We are all on a path to better health, and I certainly have paid the price when I went on a cruise and thought I could eat a soft dinner roll each night. I have choked on chicken, I have been hungry. I have distracted myself, kept busy, and three years out still struggle. Keep focused.

In the meantime, I hope you find many healthy protein choices and ideas as you search and wait. Teach your kids to make good choices. Good luck, I really hope this works out for you.

I spent a lot of time shopping and reading labels before and after surgery. I made a notebook of food ideas/recipes. Pinterest is great for Bariatric surgery recipes. I still buy low fat low sugar yogurt and cottage cheese, tuna, smoked salmon for my husband. I opt for low fat chicken broth to cook with. I still choose the low fat soups for emergency. I love the ease of rotisserie chicken for chicken salad, etc. Three years post op I am now drinking protein shakes once a day to jumpstart some weight loss. The best advice I have is to just choose foods which are healthy for you, and I am now on a journey to leave processed food out of our diet. I think of the years I got fat eating Lean Cuisine and WW meals daily. Never again. Good luck!

There are so many doctors who have different requirements that it makes your head spin here. Hopefully you trust in your surgeon. Many of us would have liked to skip the pre op dieting! Best of luck!

Help me decide - got wedding menu for tonight
Pescador replied to trekker954's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just attended my grandsons wedding in South Florida. I can arrest to the Chilean Sea Bass being a delicious melt in your mouth delight. I don't think you could handle steak at this point. Relax, enjoy yourself, and eat slowly! -
Omeprazole is usually prescribed for the acid problems. We all have little issues like this. Walking a bit might help. Good luck!
