Single large "hiccup" when I first drink

For four years I see that most people had a hiatal hernia, so I don't see it as a cause. -
Looking for Sleevers more than a year out
Pescador replied to Tth1974's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My husband and I were sleeved Nov and Dec 2013. Very happy. -
My husband was retired at age 67 when he was sleeved, and he is 6'2", 320 lbs. even though he was not working, we drank with no problem, just carry water everywhere. Your surgeon should be knowledgeable, but I applaud you for taking this step at 31. This is when my husband developed diabetes, and our life was complete turmoil with his HBP, and the rescue calls when his blood sugar went to 40 on a regular basis. Your health really matters at this weight. I really hope you trust in this sleeve, four years since the sleeve, and no rescue calls since my husband's diabetes is under control. I think he would be dead if not for the sleeve. We went to WLS seminars 20 years. Be strong and keep searching for answers.

I had one pain pill when I left the hospital after 8 hours, so driving wasn't an issue, no pain and a clear head. I wish everyone had as easy a time as I did.

I was 67 4 years ago, Inwas in the hospital 8 hours and drove to the grocery the next day and shopped. About 2 days later I drove 20 miles to a mall and walked the mall slowly. I felt great!!!!

Unintended consequence of WLS?
Pescador replied to NightPilgrim's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wish you the very best of happiness in the future. I am 70, and I can tell you that emotionally I have been in an upheaval since the sleeve in 2013. I still struggle with anger, something I have never felt before. I certainly would advise anyone not to make any life changing decisions for l-2 years after the sleeve. Good luck! -

Treat it as a true vacation and enjoy. My husband and I take small PB packs and nuts, and beef jerky for snacks. By then, you can eat anything so be moderate and relax!!!!! -
I think we all went thru it. Not a big deal. Easy to get warm, and sure beats other side effects!!!

Please don't use Henna yourself, let a professional do it. I used it in my 30s and results were disastrous. I lost hair from 5 months for 1 1/2 years. I too have fine thin hair. I stopped coloring my hair, took Worthless Biotin for four years, used expensive hair products. NOthing worked but a nice pretty $160 wig from a wig shop. I learned the hard way, you MUST try them on. I bought about four online and they don't fit and I never could wear them. Good luck, this too shall pass.

We only cruise about every 5 years. It is the ultimate vacation as you get older. I do worry about food poisoning. We avoid any Buffet.

An elegant cruise is wonderful. Fine dining, Three meals a day, in the really nice restaurants. Avoid Carnivall because they cater to kids free, so families take 10 kids and the buffet area is the nightmare. My husband and I get a nice room with a balcony, and spend lots of time reading, talking, and relaxing with the beautiful ocean view. The Oceana and Norwegian met our every need as far as not being a floating all you can eat disaster.

Actually I was outpatient. Checked in the hospital at 6 am, taken to surgery suite, then I was done and in recovery, slept a little, had the swallow test, and went home at 2 pm. I had no pain or nausea. I told the surgeon get me in and out as fast as possible. There are too many bugs you can get in the hospital, like staph infection. The surgeon was amazing!

Til the anesthesia wore off I just slept. I went home thinking I would be recovering and I felt like I never even had anything done. I was bored to death and drove to the grocery store to browse labels. I had stocked up on so many things thinking I under be unable to shop, and cannot begin to tell you all the shakes and powders that expired and went in the garbage. Honestly the first three days I did nothing special. I remember sitting in my closet cleaning out clothes and reorganizing. I felt so great. I wish you a great experience!

At age 67 I spent 8 hours at the hospital. I needed nothing. I wore loose clothing to the hospital, and wore them home. I took l pain pill when I got home, drove to the store the next day, and walked the mall four days later. I hope you are as lucky!!!

My restriction lasted about two years. No matter that we eat no carbs or sugar, I am swimming and bought a treadmill, I drink shakes, eat yogurt and apples during the day, and light dinner, my weight keeps escalating. I am going back and forth on different diets again, I am sick.

1st restaurant experience post op
Pescador replied to sylvia2017's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I never give the waitress a chance to ask a thing. We wave her off that we are fine. I would not complain about a server being over attentive, because they already get it for being not attentive. She cannot figure out everyone's eating habits. When I was first sleeved four years ago, I ate before I went out and sipped tea, or I ordered a cup of bisque, and sipped a little. The focus was laughing and talking. Really, I have figured out the servers have a job to do and don't worry about us as much as we think they do, LOL!!!!! -
Yes but I just added a lap blanket.

Just eat before you go and it won't matter. -

I was 67 and walked the mall 4 days after the sleeve. I was in the hospital 8 hrs and was in no pain at all. I would plan on going and if you get the "flu" and can't make it, so be it. Trust me no one will pay attention to what you eat or not eat. Mingle and enjoy. Eat before you go. -
CIPRO and related warnings to everyone
Pescador replied to TheBearguy8's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have been up and down over four years with vitamin issues. Very scary. Currently taking no vitamins due to blood work. Was on Thiamine shots six months. Warning.i got horrible GOUT five months after the sleeve. It lasted several months in my big toes. I was using a cane, could barely walk. I was told the Two Gout meds, Allipurinol and one other, were dangerous due to the sleeve. I felt I had no choice, one doctor said take, another said don't take. Thy put me in the ER deathly ill. dehydration is not fun, two days of vomiting and diarrhea. For the rest of our lives we must be vigilant and research ourselves. -
There are more posts archived on hair loss than anything else. Personally I started losing hair at 5 months, for approximately 2 years. I used Biontin for six months before the sleeve for two years. Worthless. I bought a good wig and thank God I did. Finally since Nov. 2013 to 2017 I have a head of healthy hair again. I quit coloring my hair and did everything possible to protect my fragile hair and nothing worked. Good luck. Invest in a wig just in case. I paid less than $200. Don't buy one without trying on. Hair extensions will pull out more hair. My opinion.

When did you start driving
Pescador replied to shericrazylady's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was 67, stayed at the hospital 8 hours for the sleeve, took one pain pill at home, and drove to the store the next day. I drove 20 miles to the mall 3 days later, and walked around the large mall. I have never needed anything for pain since, four years ago now. -
5 months out you certainly can overindulge. The sugary cocktail mixes can be full of calories. Crystal Light mixes have flavors like peach, mojito, pineapple, mango, watermelon, and you can make your flavor of the day with little single packets, easy to carry. You can mix these also with Diet Sprite or 7Up if you want the dreaded fizz. They had nothing sugar free on Norweigian last year, like lemonade by the pool. Luckily I do like unsweetened tea at dinner, but water and Crystal Light worked great. if you decide to indulge in a nighttime drink, order a shot of light rum, take to your room and mix with the crystal light. . Or order light rum over ice, carry your Crystal Light, and add to the drink. Enjoy your cruise! Caution, alcohol can hit you like a ton of bricks, and wine is no longer an option for me.
