Soft proteins........ I would stick to the diet plan your surgeon gave you. When I was allowed soft chicken about six weeks out, it lodged in my chest. I still rarely eat chicken because of that experience that terrified me. Go slow, don't try to eat anything that isn't soft or puréed unless your surgeon tells you to. Good luck!!

No one loved the shakes but it is part of the process until you can eat food. There are many ways to make the shakes taste better, like Crystal Light, sugar free puddings, Torani SF syrups, Hershey's chocolate SF powder.

I think my headache lasted about four days.

At 3+ years out, these are some of MY favorites...

All the above Sounds great. I like the crablegs too, and fresh crab salad with avocado, lemon juice, diced tomato. My number one choice is fresh Florida saltwater fish, blackened or grilled. Such a simple meal. I also like stir fried onion, Peppers and mushrooms with beef strips. I used to love chicken. No more. Roasted eggplant is a great meal, topped with a low fat and low sugar great Marinara. Large meals are a thing of the past, we eat lightly and we each eat when we get hungry, I keep multiple choices in the fridge, like you. No planning needed! I am now supplementing with protein shakes as I get bored with food choices. Your food sounds good, Lipstick! -
Coffee... It's My One True Love
Pescador replied to TheRev's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband and I had coffee within two weeks. We only drink it in the winter, but he drank a pot a day. He has lost 100 lbs and is super healthy. -
Good luck. Sleeping is the best! You won't feel the headache. Try to keep your mind occupied, and do small things, like cleaning out kitchen drawers. I am glad otherwise you are dong well.

Most of us were given a plan on what to eat and when. Are there really so many people here who have no idea what to eat and when? My thought is to make sure you get this plan before surgery. I used a monthly calendar and noted the stages for eating. Good luck everyone and make sure your surgeon has you prepared!

My husband's health problems were pretty severe and he was afraid of surgery. I can say now he has been 100 lbs lighter, at 6'2", 210 lbs., since sleeving three years ago. I wish you the best, our lives changed drastically to the BEST ever with the sleeve. We only wish we had met our surgeon 10 years earlier!

I envy the thick hair!

I am half-way through my requirements in order to be sleeved before the end of the year. But in my mind, removing 85% of my stomach is very invasive. Just curious as to why you refer to it as non-invasive? Because it's done laproscopically? Thanks. Anytime a surgeon doesn't have to cut me open I consider it non invasive. But, Really, it's just words here and not a big deal.

There are so many posts here, thousands, about hair loss. Personally, I used every product out there, Biotin Toppix, expensive shampoos, etc. I lost hair from five months for 11/2. Years. I bought a great wig which was a lifesaver. I now have a healthy head of hair again, but my advice is to have a wig ready. Hair will thin and I don't think the extensions would work as they would pull more hair out. I wish you no hair loss!

Negative comments - not "fat enough"?
Pescador replied to Jim Paulette's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husbands 30 year old son has no idea of our sleeve. Also, very close long time friends have no idea. Life is good and simple. -
My husband has been type II diabetic 30 years and I was on Metformin. sleeved. HAppy. Trust your physician or get another one. The sleeve was so non-invasive.
-
It will work! Look at all of us! We are all happy for you!!!!!

I probably had anxiety/depression most of my life, but when I lost my 30 year old son in 2006 it escalated. I went on to having the sleeve 7 years later, I am at peace until the month of Novmber, and I deal with the pain. There is not a soul among us who has not experienced pain or depression at some level. God's Grace and live on, don't look back.

Clean out drawers, put a chair in your closet and make a Goodwill pile. Go slowly in the store and read labels, make a notebook of Bariatric recipes and good foods, get a monthly calendar and keep track of your eating plans and weight. Keep busy with all those things you never have time for!

Glad you are in the hospital. When in doubt call the doctor if the nurses won't, if you are extremely bad off and think something is wrong.
-
We chose the sleeve after 15 years of uncomfortable WL seminars. Very non-invasive, 30 minute surgery, 8 hours in the hospital, no pain at home, walked the mall four days later. My husband has lost 100 lbs, and we have had zero complications. We have several friends who did the bypass and the lapband. We can eat anything we want to, but we now have the means to keep our weight loss and skip the high carb and high fat meals. We are not hungry, three years later. Best of luck as you decide. Btw we are now 69 and 70. Our health problem, asthma, sleep apnea, HBP, diabetes, etc, have drastically decreased.

Negative comments - not "fat enough"?

My response is to keep your business to yourself and you won't be debating your surgery and your weight. ❤️ -
You tell one "friend" and probably 20 people will be discussing you. NAture of gossiping women and men. Three years of reading these posts have confirmed it.

Name your fave Football snacks
Pescador replied to Pescador's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hbrhonda, I do the same, eating especially before I go shopping also. Then when I get to a restaurant I order their smallest salad and munch on it. -
Football is here. Get in gear for snacking with healthy choices. Here are my favorites, what's yours? Lean ground beef mixed with lots of chunky salsa, made into meatballs, and baked. Mini crab cakes, made with fresh crab, either sautéed or baked.
-
I make it clear before I visit that I am on a specific diet, please don't prepare food for me, let's just enjoy our visit! I went to brunch with a friend one month after the sleeve, and I sipped on a cup of lobster bisque. Made it through like a charm! I feel no need to be discussing my surgery with anyone. Plan in advance and it will work out.

It is worth a try. I have fine thin hair, and I lost plenty of hair. I invested in a pretty wig under $200, and it was my lifesaver. I had hair loss from five months to two years, and all the vitamins, Biotin, expensive shampoos, etc. made no difference. I hope you are one of the lucky ones, but I would not trade the weight loss for hair that will grow back!

Please I need encouragement
Pescador replied to tenseintexas's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The weight doesn't fall off. Please start living your life, eat right, and ditch the scale. Put it on a shelf and weigh monthly if it bothers you so much. In one year, if you follow your plan, you will be amazed at your results!!!
