We have never had an energy drink. I see a lot of people who live by them. -
VIT. B6 Toxicity and Regular Blood work/experts
Pescador replied to Pescador's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks RickM, this is definitely a supplement issue. No Costco product. So many of you are such experts on body issues that I knew I could get good insight here. I find it strange that it has happened to me and my husband when we both take different vitamins. I wonder how many people have this when they get a yearly blood work check. -
I hope you do not have to travel there regularly!

I remember the excitement you all have!!! And that darn headache! Good luck, you are so lucky to have this surgery, and we would do it again in a heartbeat!!!!!
-
You should be in and out of the hospital quickly. I was sleeved at 67, drove to the store 2 days later, and walked a lot at 4 days later. I was not debilitated in any way other than to rest a little. I had no pain and I had my sleeve outpatient with8 hours in the hospital. My husband was also sleeved, and we kept it to ourselves. I sure would not worry your Mother with this, but your decision of course!

Hey, I know the fear, but the fear of growing older, larger, and having more and more health problems like diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, etc. is much scarier. I had all these problems. There are people here who have had the sleeve several yeas ago. My surgery was three years ago. You will know when you are ready, and until then, good luck!

I THOUGHT I was sleeved...

Go to Medical Records at the facility and stand there until they hand you your admission report, the operation report, and the discharge summary. -

She is saying 7 hours, not 5. I was in the hospital about 8 hours total outpatient. Pretty common for a lot of people. -

TinyLittleFracture, an afterthought. If your overall experience with this surgeon has been good, I would rethink finding another doctor and telling your friend how you were unhappy after surgery. I would make an immediate appointment with him and tell him exactly how you feel. It might make a complete difference. I once did this with an obnoxious orthopedic surgeon, and even though it did not change my mind about him, I at least let him know how obnoxious I thought he was. It gave me saris faction listening to his feeble apology. -

I was in and out of the hospital within 8 hours with no problem, a fast discharge, no dressings, just 3 small pieces of tape. I did not see the surgeon after surgery because he is very busy operating certain days of the week, back to back. If I had fever after any surgery I would be at the ER for precautionary reasons! Sometimes we all need to follow our gut instincts when we feel something is wrong. I hope you feel better soon. Our surgeon actually was told by us to get us in and out quickly before we got staph infection or MRSA. Good luck. -
I hope you won't be there very long. Some small packs of peanut butter and beef sticks in your luggage might have fed you a few meals. Good luck getting on of there!

Under the guidance of a GOOD urologist you should be great!

I THOUGHT I was sleeved...
Pescador replied to leebick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In our hospital, they ask your name about 25 times from the door to the OR, they ask what surgery are you having, over and over. It was almost comical, but with the chance of mistakes and malpractice it is an extremely necessary protocol. -
Stand firm. Have him go with you. My husband and I had the sleeve at 67 and would do it again tomorrow! He has lost 100 lbs.!

I hope you have something in WRITING. -
Wow! Good luck, you deserve a big hug!

A LOT of people here ave hernias with surgery and my husband has had TWO since surgery. You are not lying. Don't let your guilt override your mouth because it is your business and no one else's. My husband refused to let me tell his 31 year old son. Or neighbors, or friends. No one is the wiser. We dieted, lost weight, TRUTH, and now we watch everything we eat. No one even questions our eating, and we go out a lot. Good luck, be strong!

A good idea is to make mini meatballs in a muffin tin. I have seen recipes for chicken meatballs too. If you have Pinterest online, seek out the Bariatric REcipes. Great inspiration!

6 days post op and I've broken down...mentally struggling :(

If you live with other people in your home, and have children, I know it is harder. I say feed your kids and go for a walk, which will help your mind and your health. Reminds me of the show, My 600 lb. life where the people always bring in fat food. Seriously, head hunger is real, but having others in your home eating pizza is not good for you. Start fixing healthier meals for your children now, and they will hardly know it when the food is so tasty. I wish you all the best and I can hardly believe you regret this surgery. It is the best thing that has ever been given to me in my life. Some day soon you can run and play with those babies!!!!!! May tomorrow be a better day. -
Most surgeons give the patients a complete diet plan. Not sure what your surgeon requires of you.

Abletocope, the shakes have 30 or more grams of protein. Last nights dinner was four meatballs. One Apple for a snack. Usually I have vegetables. Nutritionally I am not doing great, but I hope to get better as I ask questions and follow the smart people here. I am 70, and do not work out. I swim and walk.

Bread is my addiction. There is no bread in my house, for good reason. If you keep pasta, bread and high carb items in your pantry, I believe it just is too tempting. I can't risk it.
-
I too gained 20 lbs. with a cruise, etc. I have struggled to get down 10 lbs. recently, and have gone back to shakes and one small meal a day. It has helped.

12 days post op and hungry--normal?
Pescador replied to HorsecollarMinnie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We sipped lots of low sodium broth, and SF apple cider packs. Seems warm things helped a lot. I think the biggest hurdle is keeping busy and stop obsessing about the hunger. I walked the mall because I hadn't shopped in years, and stayed clear of the food court. In no time you will be tasting and measuring and planning. We spent Christmas alone in 2013, sipping chili. Happy as two peas in a pod! -
Never ever got seasick before or after sleeve. Take some Bonine with you, a simple over the counter. Just in case. Have a good time!
