    Swelling

If you update your stats we could see if you are pre-op or post-op. I had terrible ankle swelling and pain prior to the sleeve, and three years post sleeve have the slim ankles I love.

    Making the journey...together

Yes, three years ago. My husband has been overweight his entire life. Went to WLS fifteen plus years. Nothing felt safe or right. Went with him to the sleeve seminar, and when I realized I qualified with asthma, HBP, diabetes, I made the decision I was going to do this. I led my husband to the fire, going first, and he will say it is the best thing that ever happened to him. He is 100 lbs lighter and we are boating again, swimming, kayaking, traveling, and walking the beaches of Florida. We are now 69-70 years old and in a HAPPY state of mind! Best wishes! We eat out a lot, and never blink as we share a small meal or salad.
  5. I love HOT soup and the protein powders curdle/clump.
  6. Yes, pretty common. Good luck. It will be here before you know it.

    Pre-Op Worries About Post-Op

My husband and I Both had hernias repaired. It is pretty common. My husband has had a second hernia repair outpatient since the sleeve. My sleeve surgery stay was 8 hours outpatient. I honestly felt they might not have sleeved me!

    Pre-Op Worries About Post-Op

At age 67, my husband and I were sleeved. I took one pain pill at home. I rested, I remember NO lifting, but I was walking slowly, and shopping within a couple days. I do remember the uncomfortable shoulder pain that did not require a pain pill. The fear of the unknown is worse than anything. We did great and never even told my husbands 33 yo son we had surgery. We kept it to ourselves, to this day. It has changed our life tremendously and it will be the best thing you ever do for yourself!
  9. Maybe one day people will get that the doctors are so different since it is commented on regularly.
  10. Butch, my husband is 69, had a stent 12 years ago, has terrible diabetes. He has lost 100 lbs, his health has improved, and he has gone from 320 to less than 220 at 6'2". You will never regret this decision! CHeers!!!
  11. Maybe your prescriber of mental heal meds could guide you a little? Also, I could not talk to my surgeons nurse after surgery when I had panic over some very toxic gout meds, and only after I demanded to talk to the surgeon did his "not there" nurse miraculously pick up the phone. I tend to think for the first couple of weeks they know people panic and call them, but trust your gut instinct when you have a problem and know when to seek medical attention, such as going to the ER. I think you might settle down a bit, and hope the nausea goes away. Do the best you can but try to talk to someone before the weekend. Good luck girl!
  12. I have researched the Internet and found similar stories, TheAntiChick. Glad you were diagnosed.
  13. Since my husband and I were sleeved we have Bloodwork about every four weeks. Three years out and we both have HIGH levels of B6 and B1. Reading about the toxicity and the effects that resemble MS and ALS, I have complained of my neck trembling. Normal B6 is 2.1-21, and my husbands is 84. B1 normal is 78-180, and his is 240. I have similar issues. This cannot be just the two of us. The only foods on the list for the VIT. B category that my husband eats are bananas, seldom, avocados, and spinach. I was low in Thiamine and took Thiamine shots for 3 months. Beginning to be concerned right now, for sure. Please give me insight if you can.

    Having sleeve gastrectomy next month

Relax! I spent a little over half a day in the hospital, had one pain pill once I got home, and was driving and shopping in four days. I never even felt I had surgery. I got through the jitters before surgery by painting a room, cleaning closets, pantry and drawers. I too read everything I could about the sleeve. It has been an amazing three years and I would sure do it again. My husband has lost 100 lbs. and his diabetes is finally under control. I have no more asthma gasping when I walk a block, I am off Metformin, we are both off one BP pill, and I am happy that I have slim ankles, not puffy and swollen like before. Best wishes to you!
  15. Best thing I did was to keep busy, and cleaned all the pasta, rice, macaroni and cheese, and unhealthy food from my pantry. I gave it all to a needy friend with two children. Then I over prepared by overbuying too much protein, and shakes. I think I thought I would be housebound when in fact I was in the grocery store two days after the sleeve, because I was bored sitting around.

    5 days post op nausea

Yes,please call your doctor when it is a editable issue!
  17. Thanks all, we have two good doctors, but our surgeon is out of the country 3 weeks. We will get this straightened out.
  18. I just attended my only grandson's beautiful wedding in South Florida. Instead of Granny Shoes I had to wear for 12 years, swollen ankles and puffy feet, this 70 year old found some Coach shoes on sale, and I wore them for hours, even dancing! Thank you my surgeon, I am so happy! Trust in the sleeve!

    Protein shake

EAS protein from Walmart approved by my surgeon. I added Almond milk low calorie, and almost no calorie Hershey's unsweetened cocoa, and a Stevia. crystal Light, SF pudding, Torani SF syrups, choose your flavors!
  20. Keep busy, distract yourself, and relax. Peace!

    Ashamed

Zip it up. At 70 years old I have learned to mind my business and avoid everyone else's business. It is needless heartache to have someone hurt you. you are perfect. Close the gap in discussing your weight with Anyone. Love and hugs your way.
  22. Hopefully, we can enlighten people to make sure they get their blood work done on a regular basis. I think it is crucial to our health. I researched the Internet extensively, and the extremely high B6 , B1 etc., can cause problems resembling MS and ALS.
  23. I would have the Medical Records in my hand first. I would also have a witness with me taking notes notes since it is illegal to record someone without their knowing.
