    Messed up

There are so many food options here in the US that we never run out of choices. I prefer to keep it simple with no recipes needed.

    What to tell people?

Post surgery you will be thankful you didn't tell anyone. We have social friends who go ON and ON about our weight loss, and make me want to scream. If they knew about the surgery, the world would know. These are mostly our neighbors, so there is no avoiding them. I am not ashamed to tell people, it was my husband's one request, and now I am grateful for that decision.

    When does this get better

Be patient it iis so worth it.
  4. Sounds pretty normal! You will be great in a few days!!! I wish every man insisted no catheter during surgery because it was my husbands only problem! Relax and enjoy the rest of your life!

    I'm a mess!

Depression has been long standing in my life. I lost my son at age 30 and I really shut down Nov and Dec, his death and his birthday. Then it lifts. I understand. You can cuddle with your husband and love his physical wrapping his arms around you. Just think how many magical moments you will have when you lose weight. You must focus on the boost to your health and y,our marriage with this surgery, because it has been life changing for me and my husband. Focus on the POSITIVE and move forward, you did the right thing.

    When does this get better

Many of us had the hernias. I sometimes wonder why some of us have it easy and others go through these problems. I was on a natural high being sleeved. I could not even st,ay home, never had nausea or any problems, my husband and I. I feel bad for those with a bad experience.

    Messed up

Six weeks post sleeve I chewed a very small soft piece of crockpot chicken breast. It stuck in my chest. I ran through my house unable to tell my husband to call rescue because I could not breathe. You can bet that never happened AGAIN! I took every precaution and had been approved for that chicken in my food plan. I stuck to soups, broths, shakes, cottage cheese, etc, until my NUT at three months declared I should eat salads. The fear was REAL.
  9. Ginsin007, I also have fine and thin blonde hair. We eat no fast food and I took Biotin. I quit using hair color for a year, and being retired 1 year I could stay home all day without doing my hair. I bought a nice blonde wig that was similar to my hair. I felt great in it. I lost hair at my hairline which hasn't come back three years later, but I have gone to a light shade of brown, no bleach, and since I wear bangs it isn't noticeable. I would still do the sleeve, the hair is now healthy! I blamed it on some terribly toxic meds I was prescribed, since my husbands one request was that I keep my talkative mouth shut and not discuss our sleeve. Thank God! I talk too much!

    What to tell people?

You can always plan something and cancel if necessary! You will recover quickly! I never even felt I had surgery. Until I choked on a soft piece of chicken six weeks out, LOL

Ack! Cheated on first day of pre-op diet!

Keep your fridge stocked with healthy options on your diet then you won't be eating bagels. I have mixed protein powder with any things sugar free.

    What to tell people?

We were out of commission around a week. After that you could go camping or somewhere and take your protein shakes and soups, etc. We went through Thanksgiving three years ago sipping chili, which was delicious!

    Hi everyone

We did no exercise and just ate according to our surgeons plan. If you can exercise, great! But if not it's okay. Discuss with your surgeon.
  14. Sure. We are Americans and have OPTIONS. Good luck!
  15. Overwhelmed too three years out. Overdosing on B6 and B1. Waiting on a solution. Scary. Lost tons of hair despite 2 years of Biotin and good vitamins and thinking I was doing the right things. Keep up the blood work and stay on top.,,good luck!

    I hate optifast!

Prior to the sleeve my husband spent two one-year programs on Optifast. $10,000. You can easily do this!

    Back pain between shoulder blades

It hardly lasts any time and it is pretty common. Hang in there!

    PB2

Yes, it has been around quite awhile and many posts on it. You can add it to shakes also. They have a chocolate version also, and I have bought it at Walmart a couple years.

    Making the journey...together

I am thankful we did the process together, for serious health reasons. I stock the fridge wth his likes, and my likes. We rarely sit down to dinner. It has made our life so uncomplicated, without cooking and meal planning. It is great not to have bread and pasta in the house, no sweets or temptations. A meal for us would be grilled fish, no sides. I love it!

    Newbie

Your surgeons office should be able to tell you. Good luck.
  23. Not sure of your age but some people might not have told a lot of family before the sleeve. I think if you are an adult that you should make your own decisions. There are a lot of people who went to Mexico, so I hope you get some good information.
  24. I shopped the mall in four days. Felt great. No lifting, and you will get tired.
