Feeling annoyed with my bf... need advice
Pescador replied to krazykristen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It seems to be that way. Its always all about him and his kid and it frustrates me. This is the ONE thing I have chosen to take control of my life and he acts like its no big deal. Im tired of worrying about other people and not myself. That's why Im so overweight Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App Sweetie, this is all about you. Trust me, he can replace you for another babysitter. I hope you value yourself as a human being to stand up for yourself. He will be very threatened by your surgery and weight loss. No matter, so long as you expect it. There are many women her who have experienced this and will reach out to you. Be firm, be strong, do not waffle. If he is the love of your life hopefully you will know it soon. You can do this, you will find your strength I promise you. You won't be the same, you will demand more for yourself as a partner in life. -
Feeling annoyed with my bf... need advice
Pescador replied to krazykristen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When the focus comes off him and is on you, things changed, right? You are old enough to take charge of your life. Best wishes, good luck, and reflect on how he treats you during this process. That is your future. -
I was just thinking how different women are from men. My husband used to call in to work and ask a friend to cover 3 hours of his 12 hour shifts. Sure! And the conversation ended immediately. I, on the other hand, would have been explaining and apologizing like crazy. For 30 minutes. The same with this thread. My husband's friends would never question him about anything, yet women, like me, stress over all the ifs ands and buts just in case someone questions us so we have our bases covered. Nosy women! LOL!

Help! What did you bring?
Pescador replied to hernewselfie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I only took my husband. I was there 8 hours, had surgery, slept, and went home. -
Ray, my husband went though all this. He had sleep apnea, terrible diabetes, heart stent, cellulitis, and in general I lived every day in fear for his health. I honestly led him into sleeve surgery, after 15 years of WL seminars, when I qualified with 3 comorbidities. My husband is now 69, 3 years later, and he has gone from a 3-4X, to a large shirt, and is down 100 lbs. We are boating again, and he has a complete new wardrobe and is so proud of the way he looks, after his entire lifetime of being a fat person. Most importantly I have not called rescue in three years. YOu can do this! It is the greatest gift I could give him, going first because of his fear, so he could see how great I felt after the sleeve!

Back pain between shoulder blades
Pescador replied to Deborah Bennett's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It could be air pumped in during surgery. Or anesthesia. At any rate, it is not bad enough for a pain pill. -
Well things have changed and you won't be able to eat those big meals. Plan for it. Keep things on hand for small meals.

I just had surgery 9/13/16. So I know what it's like to have silly food questions pop up in your mind. This should be a comfortable place to ask these questions. There shouldn't be chicken heads running around making sarcastic comments to people who are asking honest questions. And if you cackling hens don't like my petty response to your pettiness, all I can say is don't dish it out. I'm done going back and forth with you mean women. I have a pretty fine life outside of this thread. Best of luck to the original creator of this thread. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Seriously there are no mean women. For years, the Veterans give 1,000 answers to soothe Newbies and others. Then comes post number 1,001, saying I ate a pork chop, can I eat a taco, I ate a turkey leg, and there is true pain to the people here who really try to guide others to healthy eating and results, which is more than frustrating. Can you understand this?

I trust the surgeon when he advised against Diet Coke, etc. I think the carbonation causes bloating, not to mention the unhealthy affect on us by soft drinks. I am thankful to have lost my addiction to Diet Coke and will take water any way. As far as chips, if I wanted to eat chips I would not have had the sleeve. If you eat like that you need to stay overweight and not put yourself through surgery. Make sure you always have healthy food with you, so you won't be tempted.

Pre-op diet cranky pants.
Pescador replied to The New Kel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One night of anger, and you are worried? I think your child should have been in bed anyway, and let's face it, if they are used to a mess they will leave a mess. If not, you were justified. Relax. It is hard to go through the mental part of this surgery, but at 66 thank God I didn't have to have potato chips in my house for a kid. I definitely have anger issues since the sleeve and I do not know why. I guess it boiled down to hormonal changes. There are medicines for that. Forewarn your spouse of the possibility, and to help you if he is concerned. I recently went on Wellbutrin and see a great difference. Good luck Mama! -
Yep, I have found out what turkey neck is, but I have slim ankles!

Where would you or I be without the guidance of the Veterans here. They have counseled on poop, tacos, hamburgers, vomiting, pain, vitamins, four YEARS. Sometimes the questions are so absurd the only way to deal with them are with humor. LIghten up. You have no community of dedicated helpers like you have here. Trust me.

Sluggish and depressed?
Pescador replied to BillyD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have not had surgery yet you may not experience this. I felt nothing but pure joy with the sleeve, to change my life, and get my husband healthier. Good luck, our bodies are all so different. -
Day 5 and really hungry?
Pescador replied to christinah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Distract yourself from food and go walking, paint a room, start a small project. Rearrange your pantry. Keep busy! -
NEED HELP! Smoking.... possible Chantix?
Pescador replied to Heatgirl03's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Chantix did give me some weird side effects mentally, and finally, I did it cold turkey. The quitting part was so awful that I made a decision to NEVER go through that withdrawal again. My sister had a half lung removed, cancer, and resumed smoking in 1 month. PLEASE quit! -
If ya ain't got humor, ya ain't got nuttin'!!!!! Fantastic Friday fun, y'all !!!!

Examples of pureed/soft foods
Pescador replied to Armygalbonnie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never puréed anything for my husband and I. We continued shakes, mashed up soft scrambled or boiled eggs, soft refried beans, and chili which had no large clumps of anything. Add in yogurts, small curd cottage cheese, and mashed avocado, and I am very good at making bisques and quiche with no crust. Small bites, chewed very well. -
We were gone from home half a day each for the sleeve, and then home. Never even told my husbands adult son. If I had been working I could have taken 2-3 days off for vacation and no one would have known. I feel bad for the people here that have so much pain and problems, because at 66 my husband and I had so little pain and no problems.
