Diabetes...lower A1C post-op anyone?
Pescador replied to ginabee38's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear once a diabetic always diabetic. No matter, I am off Metformin, my A1c went from 8 to 5, my husband has been diabetic 30 plus years, and he is off insulin at night, and his A1c is also great. In three years I have not called Rescue once for a 40 blood sugar with an unconscious husband. There is no fear like the fear every time I called Rescue. Thank you Mr. sleeve. -
He's full of crap. Most have hair loss no matter what we do. Agree Babbs!

I was 45 when I found my man. I won't waste your time with details, but do not settle for less. I used to say I would rather be alone than with a with a husband who won't come home, and I was alone for awhile. Never dreamed what happiness was ahead of me. -

Unrealistic Expectations

Rock Stars! The winner here will be that 11 year old boy whose Mom is going to be totally awesome!!!!!!! -
One thing I enjoy is good meatballs, like Aidells. I buy some great Marinara sauce, expensive but good ingredients, no preservatives, and three baked meatballs with two Tbsp. MArinara makes me feel like I had an Italian meal.

Do you tell your friends or not?

Trust your gut instinct! -
If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you always got. My thoughts, cereal, bread, crackers, pizza, cookies, cake, have no place in my home, 3 years since surgery. If it were here, I might slip. No, I would slip. After the sleeve you really can eat all the cereal you want, you can eat pizza every day of the week. You can eat it and never lose weight. I dearly love homemade biscuits, gravy, and chicken and dumplings like my Mother taught me. I really miss them but I could not wear my new clothes if I eat them. It is a choice. Make sure you are ready to change your life. Good luck girl!

Do you tell your friends or not?

Generally when you tell family or friends they spread the news of surgery for you. I see it over and over here. Even the HR person who told..... There is so little down time with the sleeve, that my husband and I have kept it to ourselves, and no one questions us. We socialize a lot, no one pays attention to our dieting. It makes our life so uncomplicated and boring. Thanks to my husband who insisted I not tell, because I didn't think I could hide it. We did. No lies, just no details and eating healthy. -
I will say this. I had a very bad marriage for 20 years, mainly because he lived his life as he wanted. There is a trade off. When I divorced him I changed the life of my children and grandchildren forever. Christmas, Birthdays, you name it. I am lucky in that my ex and I remained friends, and he and his wife, me and my husband just spent a week with our daughter, grandson, and her ex husband in one house on the ocean. There still were years our children had to pick and choose. If your marriage is really bad you won't care. But you owe it to your children to try counseling. Best of luck!!!!!

Heck you would be beautiful bald! But seriously you have great hair, not like I did!

You need to find a WL seminar in your area. The doctors know the answers to your questions. My husbands cardiologist was supportive before we ever went to the seminar. He okayed my husband on the spot.

I was really scared at 67. It was 10 times easier than expected. Three years out and would do it again in a heartbeat!
-
No pictures Dusky.

At 67 it was the best thing that my husband and I ever did for ourselves. Three years ago and we would do it again. Don't wait for the diabetes, sleep apnea, HBP and debilitating health problems. We are loving life. Fifteen years of WL seminars, we finally found and trusted the sleeve and surgeon!!!!

Some people like attention. That is perfectly fine. I like being anonymous until I tell you anything, lol!

I have been told that once you use Rogaine you cannot stop. That deterred me.

No support from boyfriend

A man who loves you to the moon and back will love you through ANYTHING. Your health matters. Put YOU first. Please. -
Actually I am out three years from the sleeve. There is no rhyme or reason, as I stay constipated most of the time, and the old saying here is "Don't trust a fart". That is TRUTH.

Hair loss [emoji20]
Pescador replied to natarshassleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In August 2014 I went to New Orleans a year after surgery. The wig was so hot I was steaming! I went to the market and bought two hats but they were hot too. I get that! I took BIotin for two years. I am retired so I didn't have to go out much, I quit coloring my hair, I babied it with all kinds of stuff, bought the scalp powder which went in the trash. I survived it, and you will too! -
What are you eating?
Pescador replied to ashleyrowles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A bit of refried beans topped with taco sauce to satisfy my Mexican craving! Small curd cottage cheese with sugar free jam. I puréed nothing. I prepared soft food, then mashed with a fork. Eat slow, tiny bites. -
Yes, could be C dif. Get tested. I have had very small accidents, but haven't heard anyone with your problem. Good luck!

It is different for everyone. It was awful for me. 1 1/2 years. I lost so much hair I had no choice but to wear a wig. Thank goodness three years later and lots of TLC I am good, except the hair around my face never came back. I wear bangs so it is okay. Good luck.
