Feeling like I am regressing
Pescador replied to tenseintexas's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't have any answer to this but just want to say I hope it gets better soon. My husband and I never had a problem whatsoever. I would be seeing the surgeon, and I am so sorry you have to go through this. -
Starting my bariatric journey- choosing the right surgery
Pescador replied to xoxococojay's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you need to find a surgeon you trust and trust HIS advice. We are not experts on medical advice at all. That being said the reason my husband waited fifteen years for WL surgery, the sleeve, is because it is less invasive and scary. Good luck!!! He is down 100 lbs and happy, three years out. -
Banana during liquids phase
Pescador replied to sumochik's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can put anything in but fruit has natural sugar and bananas are not a choice for me period. Try some SF Torani flavored syrups, they are good. -
I think everyone here has been through this. Most of us made it to the wonderful end.

I am a big mouth and don't keep much from my family. My husband of 25 years is very reserved and tells nothing. We were sleeved together. The one thing he said is I do not want you telling anyone. I told my 46 y/o daughter, he did not tell anyone, even his 30 y/o son. Personally I am so thankful. I did not have to listen to jabber from anyone, and I really dislike talking about myself. Even when we said we were eating healthier and dieting, it seems like all people wanted to talk about was our weight, and it became really tiresome. It made me appreciate keeping my mouth shut! But to each his own, we are sleeved and happy. Best of luck!

What's your best protein shake recipe?
Pescador replied to rolosmom7's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
The Torani syrups just give a little flavor. Lots of people add to their coffee. We use a lot of hazelnut flavorings. I love the syrups, not that sweet to me. -

Hi Joshua! Plenty of support here! Looks like you are on a new path in life. Proud for you! -
What's your best protein shake recipe?
Pescador replied to rolosmom7's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Have you tried the Torani SF syrups? Hazelnut, Salted Caramel, yummy flavors. I also add a tsp. unsweetened Hershey's Cocoa Powder & 1 Stevia packet for a great chocolate shake. I always add the protein powder, low calorie Silk Almond milk and ice for a thick icy shake. My husband liked some of the flavors of Crystal Light added to his shakes. -
When will I feel better or even remotely better?
Pescador replied to Boudala's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
67 no Pain, no pills no restrictions. You should call your doctor. -
Donate and go home.

My thoughts are Simple is Better. A salad, microwaved potato, and nice little steak seared stovetop makes such an easy meal, and crockpot chili which you can freeze in smaller portions, always on hand. Pretty soon you can eat the chili. A patty of ground chuck steak seared stovetop for your hubby, with a side veggie. My husband loves a fajita style meal with steak, peppers and onions. We have no bread in our house, I love bread so I do not buy it. Good luck!

I would say call your doctor. I walked a mall four days after the sleeve. Always remember we are not medical experts and trust your gut instinct about your body. Good luck!

Angry at Unsupportive SO! Get a backbone women and men!
Pescador posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So many posts here, about unsupportive significant others. Just watched My 600 lb. life. Zsalynn is doing great. She went for weight training with a trainer. Her SO said if you want to break a sweat grab the vacuum cleaner. I wanted to go through the tv. She is trying so hard, and her young child (and his), yells why did you marry him mommy!? Zsalynn said because I wouldn't have you. I have made terrible choices in my life, I guess this is why it bothers me so. Sort of like the first husband of 20 years dropping me at the hospital to have two different surgeries. He is history but I still wonder why I settled for such crap. The first surgery was a kidney stone when I was 7 1/2 months pregnant, and nearly died. Please, strong women, never ever let a man treat you like this. -
Omg I'm so much pain...
Pescador replied to itzbrittaanyx3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Even 1/4 Percocet is a tough pain reliever. If you have pain with that medicine you need to see your surgeon. I had a hernia too, and never needed pain meds after my outpatient sleeve. Good luck. -
Concerned friends ... Do you really want to do this?
Pescador replied to Lori1432's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Our Cardiologist and Internist were both very supportive of our being sleeved, 100 percent. They are still supportive three years later, seeing the difference in our health and lives. -
Awesome and looks great after cottage cheese tonight! I love buying 1 filet mignon occasionally, and sharing with my husband. Shrimp is so plentiful in Florida, it is a favorite. Guess I have lived here so long I take it for granted. You are a lucky man, but wait, she is pretty lucky too!

Yeah, just don't worry about it. It will be great.

I survived Matthew. Without eating all day. Stressed day but safe, no yacht in my yard, only one ginormous tree down in the yard.
-
No one's yacht washed up in your yard or yours was washed away? No matter which, file an insurance claim -- either for loss or disappointment.
-
A yacht was anchored in the ST. JOhns River in front of our house. Many boats end up in yards or on shore. Always makes people nervous. They anchored it good, some people don't. We need no insurance claims, all is well.

In the grande scheme of things, you hit a road bump. These things don't always go so smoothly, like us. But soon it will be history. Good luck.

My hair is thin and light blonde. I stopped using coloring products, and heat. I used major expensive shampoos and conditioners. It was scary for me, but now that I went through it, I only wish I had black hair because I saw some cute black wigs. I wore my wig almost 1 1/2 years, and it was so close to looking by my hair that no one even knew. Never buy a wig without trying them on! I have five I will end up donating to ACS.

It will be here in Jax tomorrow. Scary as can be. Got protein shakes, peanut butter, tuna, nuts, all kinds of food, and a generator. Hoping the St. John's River stays outa my house.

Every time I brushed my hair the brush was full of hair, and when showering and washing my hair it fell off in the shower. I took worthless Biotin two years, way before the sleeve, I did it all.

When do you feel no pain
Pescador replied to blackbenzjeep@yahoo.com's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was in the hospital 8 hours and sent home with pain pills. I took one. I had no pain, I drove the next day, walked a mall in four days. I was 67. Please call your doctor, and trust your gut instinct. I also had a hernia repair. -
My husband has drank coffee every winter for three years since his sleeve, a pot a day, and has lost 100 lbs.

Congratulations Juan!!!!!
