I am too old to remember what I ate yesterday much less remember something three years ago. What I lost and you lost will be nothing alike.

Welcome! I am 70 going on 40. Sleeved 3 years ago, best thing my husband and I ever did for our health and happiness! -
I gained 20 lbs in x weeks when I went on a cruise and 30 day vacation and thought I could have a little bread, rice, and carbs. It has taken me moths to get off ten lbs. there is no bread, rice or pasta in my house, and when we eat out I learned to stick to basics and know that I cannot allow myself to ever go back to the things that I love. Comfort food I call it, and I sure miss it. But that boat has sailed.

What else can be added to protein shakes?
Pescador replied to ncqt1973's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hershey's Unsweetened COcoa Powder which is SF, FF, almost zero calories, is great, with a packet of Stevia for sweetness. I use the Silk "milks" which are about 25 calories for 8 0z. I always add ice cubes for a milkshake consistency. Be creative with flavors, it helps. Love fruit but too much sugar. You can find the Torani syrups at grocery stores, World Market, or on Amazon. -
Everyone is different so the weight loss is different. Please don't compare yourself to others. A lot of people here do that and get depressed that something is wrong. Relax and follow your plan!

Yes. Even three years later.

Not eating and drinking simultaneously, this is a hurtle!
Pescador replied to LittleLizzieLilliput's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LittleLizzie, it isn't that the water helps fill you up, it is that it helps the food slide on down too easily. Then all of a sudden you realize you are in pain because you overrate. I drink all day, so when eating I do not have liquids near me. It is too easy to grab and sip without thinking. Three years since surgery, it still makes a lot of difference if I take a sip while eating, or eat without chewing well and slowly. Thank goodness! The food is so much better and enjoyable! -
Question about meat ?
Pescador replied to christinah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A couple TBSP. Refried beans topped with mild taco sauce satisfied my cravings. Loving seafood, we still have a lot of soft sautéed fish, such as flounder, grouper and mahi. Even three years post sleeve,I have trouble with chicken. I would rather have a lean meatball or lean ground beef patty topped with cheese. -

Gas-x, should I use it?

Call your surgeon for advice, please? You paid him well. -
Personally and only MY opinion I would say I am having a hernia repair on this date. To each his own. I have seen too much grief here to feel the need to be honest and open about me and my body.

Well my old husband decided no one would know our business about surgery and no one questioned us. Therefore there isn't anything to defend. It is pathetic that gossipmongers stick their nose in. I say ignore. Not her business. Most of us have hernias, so maybe you have a hernia,

Staying positive. I am NOT happy
Pescador replied to Spectra13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Seriously try and get some professional help. In addition to hormonal changes in your body, surgery, and the thoughts you have, I think depression itself is a big part of being overweight. Not to mention the daily stresses we have. That being said, I don't want to deter anyone from changing their life with the sleeve. My husband and I were 67 when sleeved, and instead of being absolutely chained to the sofa, we are up, out, boating, kayaking, and traveling. He has lost 100 lbs and I gladly walked him straight into the sleeve after fifteen years of WL seminars, horrible cellulitis, toe amputations from diabetes (5 months of daily IV antibiotics to save a big toe), HBP with the highest number of medicines, rescue calls in the middle of the night when his blood sugar bottomed at 40 because he went ALL day not eating because of his weight. If we had the sleeve available fifteen years ago it might have stopped some of the serious health problems. It has changed our life forever and I hope you will look at the health benefits and why you went into this surgery. Good luck everyone. I know this is a hard journey but find help, and find the positives. -
I stocked soup, protein drinks, etc. for six months. Heck I was in the grocery store in 48 hours. I could have survived on 2 cans of soup and a six pack protein drinks for a week. I never even felt I had surgery.

Snacks other than protein drink
Pescador replied to Roxsannalee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
PB2 is the healthier powdered peanut butter, from Walmart, and most stores. Mix with water. Macs Pork Cracklins -- 1/2 oz. has 80 cal., 7 gm. protein, 6 gm. Fat, 280 mg. Sodium. I look for the yogurt that has 8 grams sugar. -
Mac's Pork Cracklins. 1/2 oz, has 7 gm. Protein, 8 gm. fat, 80 calories. I don't know any other brands.

What questions can the newbies ask?
Pescador replied to hudjess's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am so sorry you feel this way. Ask anything you want because there are seriously nice people here. I was a bit intimidated three years ago, but please , I learned and you can learn, to pull up those big girl panties and meet some wonderful people here. Now, ask away!!!!! This is a very scary journey for most of people, a big step out. -
Snacks other than protein drink
Pescador replied to Roxsannalee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would google Bariatric protein snacks on Pinterest or internet for lots of options. We don't snack much, except for apples, and my husband has beef sticks and nuts. -
I cannot imagine trying to convince anyone to support me in anything, they either will or they won't. Focus on yourself and your weight loss journey. It is a happy ride! Good luck!

Hair loss/ A1C/ and How to loose lat 20 pounds?
Pescador replied to shirleyjohn001's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I lost hair for 1 1/2 years and finally after three years I have almost healthy hair again. Biotin sucks. Your A1c will vary but it sure is better than it was, and so is mine. I was taken off Metformin at surgery thank God. Your weight sounds great. I am back on shakes but cannot seem to get my weight down any further. Good luck. -
Three years post surgery my husband and I snack on them when traveling, but not often. I read the other day a recipe that called for a meat to be breaded with porkskins (chiccarones) because of the zero carbs. Interesting.
