Experienced Sleevers please help! Any side Effects from getting the VSG?
Pescador replied to GOM123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Downsides: I had hair loss but recovered. I have had some vitamin problems that have not resolved. Too much B6 in my system and low Thiamin with injections. Had to buy new clothes for two of us and our feet get tired from shopping, BUT at least we can walk now. There are really no downside or us. Our health has improved 100 percent. No joke. -
My hair was too blond and too thin to even think of a hair extension.

Agree he needs to be tough. I really like that he puts them in the hospital and gets to see how the families sneak in food. They have had years of manipulating their families and he does not coddle. My heart breaks for some of them, yet there are some that make me angry at their attitude. We are l different. I guess when you reach such a morbid stage in life it cannot be helped that you want it your way. So sad.

So the price of plane fare to Korea and back and $500 a month for several months? Most people do not have that kind of money. I bought a beautiful $200 wig and a $5 visor and I made it though without anyone but my husband and my daughter seeing my scalp.

Do any of you vets completely ignore this rule?

I truly believe Diiet Coke blows up the stomach with gas and bloating. I prefer water, I dislike sweet drinks. -
Can you imagine living without it?

Most of us have watched many of the episodes. The worst thing to me are the ENABLERS anding these people cartons of fried chicken, etc. even when they are in the hospital. So if your mama says eat this chicken nugget say HELL NO!

Relax and follow your surgeons plan. You will have more stalls. Focus on something' else besides the scale.

I have researched malpractice claims of physicians online. Better safe than sorry. Just do homework everyone. Peace.

@@Daniella5 Twice in my husband's life he did Optifast two separate years and lost 100 lbs. each year. The pre op shakes is nothing in comparison, so just wait for the prize. It is not easy but we all struggled pre op, and post op. It is so worth it.

Help I went in for my initial consultation and wanted the Gastric Sleeve the doctor suggested the Duodenal switch surgery

I honestly do not know the answer to this but I agree you should have a second opinion and research this yourself. My husband and I went to WL seminars over fifteen years and were never willing to risk it until we heard about the sleeve at a wonderful similar. Less invasive was the main reason. We had an easy time in the hospital, 8 hours, barely any pain, no nausea, nothing. It was if did we really have surgery? My husband has had a wonderful easy experience losing over 100 lbs. (320 to217). Health is tremendously better. Sleeved at age 67, you need a medical expert to guide to convince you. Good luck! -
If you are constantly nauseated you should call your surgeon. There are meds for that.
-
Put the scale away and focus on eating right. Good luck.

We have been there. Just keep plugging along, you will make it I promise.

Mine is in the kitchen drawer after three years. Uncomplicate your life.

My husband went from 320 to 217. He is 6'2". He existed on lots of broth, the shakes, and one protein/veg meal pre surgery. Some of these pre op diets are horrendous for a person your size. Please talk to your surgeon! It is worth it in the long run I promise.

I took worthless Biotin for two years. I started.hair loss at five months, for 1 1/2 years. Only a wig was my saving grace. I stopped coloring my hair, I stopped blowdrying my hair, and no matter what anyone says, you either will or won't have extreme hair loss. Three years after the sleeve, I finally have hair. Never buy a wig online, you must try them on..

I think all of us have had the hernia repairs, from the posts here.

I did hire a lawyer because not only did he try to kill me, I endured this terrible burn that after 4 months of healing left me with a horrible scar on my abdomen. Once Umbach found I hired an atty, he sent me a letter stating he cannot see me as a patient. HA HA HA...like I would ever want to see him again. Despite paying him $12,500.00 Cash....and him almost killing me, he sent me a bill for $55,000.00 for his surgical center having to keep me until ambulance arrived while they had to reintubate me and put me on a ventilator. I hope no one ever has to experience a surgeon like Umbach. Guess that's what happens when you are in hurry to get patients out of the IT and move on to other task. All about money! Sent from my SM-N930V using the BariatricPal App You have had a horrible experience. I cannot imagine what you have gone through. Your recovery both mental and physical will be extra hard. Take care of yourself, be kind to yourself. You certainly do not owe this man $55,000 for nearly killing you. I hope you have a really good lawyer who is ethical, and will handle this correctly. That being said, I would caution you about too much posting, even though this is a private site. Your words, though innocent here, can be twisted and turned in a courtroom, plus since you have named him he can say you are slandering his name. Therese are just words of caution, since someone here also had surgery by hIm, and people talk. This is a horrible surgeon, obviously. Good luck!

What were your worst symptoms post-op?
Pescador replied to KaiserKid's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in need out of the hospital 8 hours outpatient. Seriously was tired, and slept. Never had any real pain, no nausea. I do remember the uncomfortable feeling in the shoulder, from gas. -
A new lease on life! With pics!

2 days in and nausia as hell
Pescador replied to Lowes????'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you called your surgeon? They might prescribe something. If it were me I would buy Dramamine or Bonine. If you just feel queasy, that is one thing, but if you are vomiting severely that is very dangerous because you can become dehydrated. -
