  1. New blog up! And yes, I am still eating the leftovers while I type this, but they are SO DAMN GOOD! Citrus Pepper chicken with Quick Pickled Red Onions. The chicken is moist and morish, and would be great increased and served to a crowd in lettuce leafs (like I am having as leftovers!) http://aussiefoodiesjourney.blogspot.co.uk/2016/04/citrus-pepper-chicken-with-quick.html
  2. They are great after two hours - amazing after 2 months!
  3. Doing OK after 10 days of antibiotics and steroids thanks to a nasty chest infection doing the rounds. Sitting at 111.1kgs (nice symetry at least) - 36kgs down in 6 months

    Stalled at 5 weeks?

Ahhh the dreaded 5 week stall. We all hit it. It is totally normal, and will not be your last. Don't dwell on it. More importantly, don't weigh yourself daily. Weekly tops, always at the same time of day (I go for Saturday mornings as soon as I get up after first poo of the day). Good luck, and don't stress!
  5. All the time. Have given up guessing what FickleFred is going to be able to stomach in any sitting. I still hardly touch carbs except for an occasional bit of sourdough...like once a week. Haven't had pasta or rice yet, and potato rarely.
  6. Happy Eatster everyone! I might be sick, but I was determined to cook on Pants-Free Friday, sorry Good Friday. In breaking with my old tradition of Steak Diane on GF, I went for a far healthier option of Haddock and Broccoli Pie, inspired by this month's Donna Hay magazine. I am six months post op, almost 35kgs down (halfway to goal now) and just moved to Twyford, Berkshire UK (from London), originally from Sydney Australia. http://aussiefoodiesjourney.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/haddock-and-broccoli-pie.html

Just dont eat the Tim Tams - or if you feel compelled to try, ration them to one or two a week! Or share them with us....

Haddock and Broccoli Pie (a healthy pie!)

The joy of being self employed! We have Braless Mondays, Twister Tuesdays, Wierd Wednesdays, Tattoo Thursdays and Pants Free Friday. This is of course only enacted when I am working from home and not on a client site....would be awkward otherwise! Tim Tams....I dream....

Haddock and Broccoli Pie (a healthy pie!)

Thanks! I am off the Tim Tams these days - but I would not say no to a (small) packet of Chicken Twisties! Other than that, pop on over anytime! Congrats on your loss BTW - that is an amazing amount for a year!

How Were You 10 Weeks Out

London has been a culture shock - I always thought Sydney was hectic...but nope. Not a shadow on London. I need quiet, and I miss having more of an outdoor life...Twyford we will be able to do water sports (in dry suits!), walking and cycling....and fresh air. I miss fresh air. PS: Sent you a message

How Were You 10 Weeks Out

Seriously frosty here this morning - happily swap you. That said, the cherry blossoms are starting to burst, crocus and daffs are bursting with colour, but despite all this, the locals are still grumpy, miserable, bloody bastards. Moving to Twyford in 2 weeks! You might also want to chat to your GP if you have any worries about clots - but the flight from WA to Bali isn't too long, so should be fine. I had blood thinners for my flights to and from St Lucia - but I have a history of blood clots. I am 32kgs down in 5.5 months - and it was the best thong i ever did. If you get bored I am irregularily blogging at http://aussiefoodiesjourney.blogspot.co.uk/

How Were You 10 Weeks Out

Greetings fellow Aussie, At 10 weeks I went on a wek long holiday to St Lucia (I am in London now). You will be able to eat normal foods but seriously tiny amounts. I tried a few bits of lean chicken, and made friends with the hotel staff who got me a hard boiled egg every day (it was my go to lunch). You will be fine with small amounts of fish. You should avoid booze (hard in Bali I know( and be hitting as close to 3 litres of Water a day due to the heat. Ahhhh heat. I miss heat.
  17. Just back from a week in St Lucia - a few wins, no need for the seatbelt extender, didnt lose any days (or nights) to drunken shenanigans, and I wore a bikini! New post up: http://aussiefoodiesjourney.blogspot.co.uk/2015/12/fun-times.html
  18. If in need of a protein kick, and as an added bonus of calcium and a count towards your liquids, drink 500mls of semi-skim milk (Light White) - is the perfect snack.
  19. All going well over here - 17kgs down, just over 2 months since surgery. Clothes loser, energy levels up, tarted socialising again. Currently in a cottage ni Cornwall with friends, then head back to London for 2 days before a week in the Carribean.... This is aided by the fact I have worked 12 hour days the lst 2 weeks icluding weekend....so 2 weeks off was happily aporved by the boss! (Note: I am self employed.....)
  20. I have been having them for breakfast for last 2 weeks - within 3 days of starting them so did the constipation Stopped thm on Thursday bum back to normal by Saturday after liberal application of Weetbix Will still have the bars, but as a snack rather than breakfast. As an aside - 6 week post op stats and ongoing pictures now up on teh blog if anyone wants a looksee. http://aussiefoodiesjourney.blogspot.co.uk/
  21. I am at 6 weeks now, my energy levels were great the forst 3 weeks, and have been down the toilet since. Probably didnt help I now have to commute into Central London and deal with schlepping on the Tube! Have been constipated as not drinking enough when ni meetings, and been having protein bars for breakfast - tii much protein, not enough fibre
  22. You will be gassy as all hell for the next week - the joy of having your chest pumped with air! Glad you went well - when are they sending you home?
  23. Thank god for this post - thought I was going nuts! Managed well chilled water flavoured with fresh lemons over the weekend, and hot water and fresh mint leaves the last few weeks, but plain water....bleugh. Loved it pre-op!
  24. Smiley - time to take up karate, with the kids. I used to teach in Sydney and parents who train with their kids (inclyding teenagers) really found it a great way to bond with them at an awkward age...they became quite competitive with each other!
  25. Married and living in West London, I was born in Australia. No kids, no pets, just me and the Hussyband living with the Mother-in-Law, but we are heading up to Liverpool early next year to start anew somewhere you can buy a house without going into debt for the rest of your natural life. I have been thinking about having weight loss surgery for a long time - way before I met my beloved Hussyband. A friend in Tasmania had it and it worked wonders for her. But I wasn't ready then. I was having way too much fun being the happy drunken party girl. Yes I was big - but it never stopped me from having fun, and by having fun I mean picking up lots of strange men for gratuitous fun of course! Think Trainwreck - I know when I saw it last week I thought that it was a biographical movie of my 20's and early 30's! I am blogging my journey together with pics, videos and recipes as I go. It can be found at http://aussiefoodiesjourney.blogspot.co.uk/ Hope you will check it out. It is a big step we are taking, but whilst it is hard, it would be harder to stay the way we are now. Much love, Elisa
