  1. No judging here! Never watched TOWIE - avoid most UK TV (except the cooking shows!) Did run into a mob of them complete with fluro spray tans at an event a few years back, there is not much between their ears! If you get bored I have a blog - http://aussiefoodiesjourney.blogspot.co.uk/ - update it a couple of times a week, not a lot to say the last few weeks - when you are on post-op liquids life is just boring! Starting to write some recipes to test so will be getting more interesting.
  2. It is amazing the support all of us sleevers give each other For some the support they get on the forums is more than they get from friends and family - I am lucky, very very lucky. My husband is 100% behind me, and I am out of the closet to friends and family which is making socialising much easier. Less than a week for you - how are you feeling?
  3. Hi Froddy - I have family and my best mate in Townsville (I am a Sydney girl currently displaced to London). I am just over 4 weeks post op, and 12kgs down. The 2 weeks of pre-op diet drove me nuts, but I am onto adding foods and textres in now, thank god for flavour. Desperate for a piece of Vegemite toast, but not for another few weeks. 4 weeks of pre-op is harsh! At least with the heat turning up you can have chilled shakes. Worst case, blend them with ice and make a smoothie Have a last glass of champagne for me on Thursday!
  4. God I would kill for some Cottees GI Cordial cant get it over here. Did manage to get some Aussie Milo yesterday - 20g is a little protein kick to my mid-morning milk. BCs: The Mater was up the road from where I used to live. Good hospital. I was in a state in post op and for the first 12-18 hours, then it got easier, hopefully it will for you as well. Just try to keep sipping, I fund changing position and walking as much as possible helped a lot wit the gas pains. And a shoulder/upper back massage in a few days will help as well. NewNetty: Can you use stevia as a sugar substitute so you can still have tea/coffee? Each day teh pre-op diet will get easier, you will find your appetite will shrink, and if you keep jamming water in your system your stomach wont rumble. http://aussiefoodiesjourney.blogspot.co.uk/
  5. Good luck BCS - what hospital?
  6. First BM is awesome - Hussyband got such a laugh out of mine I blogged it: http://aussiefoodiesjourney.blogspot.co.uk/2015/09/scatagorically-speaking.html - let me know what you think?!?!!
  7. New blog post up - Self Love http://aussiefoodiesjourney.blogspot.co.uk/2015/09/self-love.html
  8. Hey BCs - you will be fine hon - I only puked about 6 times post op - and it was all due to my asthma flaring from the anesthetic, and the contrast dye they use to make sure you are sealed up tight. Take the antinausea meds they give you for a day, two max but you wont need it after that. And get a massage on your back and shoulders in a chair around day 5 - it helped me no end.
  9. Morning hon! Doing ok - staples come out tomorrow lunchtime, I had to push them back a few hours as I have a final interview at 8am....bit nervous about going into Central London with the staples in as they pinch (and fuck they itch!!!!) Still not needed painkillers since I came home, not thrown up once, no "dumping syndrome" episodes, gas pain gone (highly recommend getting a neck/shoulder/scalp massage it helped in a huge way). If the meeting tomorrow is what I think it is, I am just going in to sign the contract, will probably start Wednesday and work from home for a few days, then in the client's office next week. Have gotten through 3 seasons of Nashville in 2 weeks
  10. 5 days post op - not hitting my liquids mark yet but getting there - sip sip bloody sip! Blogging again, today is a sensitive topic, but it will make you laugh I think. http://aussiefoodiesjourney.blogspot.co.uk/2015/09/scatagorically-speaking.html
  11. Hey hon - surgery went well, 4 keyholes, 15 staples. Was home less than 24 hours after I checked in. Puked a lot of contrast dye the first day, but nothing thrown up since. Slowly getting my liquids in, had half a scrambled egg this morning, about to have some milk. Not much bruising, really tired though. And gassy, god I am gassy!
  12. Hey gorgeous - looks like you are doing well! I just had my final blood, operation in 2 days (eek) and in 30mins I am on Clear liquids only for the next week or so until I get all clear for all liquids/soft purees. Lost another 2.5kgs this week on pre-op diet, so just short of 5 kgs in 2 weeks....bring on the knife! New blog up yesterday - have I missed anything to pack? http://aussiefoodiesjourney.blogspot.co.uk/2015/09/packing-it.html Hugz, E
  13. The fabulous thing is every time I see my Hussyband he makes ME laugh as well!
  14. I live in London, but I am from Sydney Australia
  15. Just under £9k with the National Obesity Centre - being sleeved next week at Holly House.
  16. One week out from surgery, and one week into my pre-op diet. Doing OK. Staying away from carbs, doing LighterLife shakes/soups with occasional snacks on cherry tomatoes for texture. Updated the blog and staying on track...dreaming about food though, and tortured myself by watching Great British Bake Off last night! Just done a post on Last Suppers(s) - what did you guys d as your last meal before your pre-op diets?

    Group meet up?

Hi Gabito - I am in Ealing - what about you?
  18. As a curisosity for the Sydney peeps - where you from? I grew up in Wentworthville, went to school in Parramatta, then spent 20 years around Chatswood (then moved to London).
  19. Wow! Doing well hon! Keep us updaed
  20. Sorry I have been quiet - went up Norf to Liverpool for the weekend. I can finally understand the bloody accent up there! Glad everything is going well - I start my pre-op diet on Friday. Are you on Clear liquids still?
  21. Morning from London! Thinking of you - hope all has gone well and that the drugs are great! Mwah!
  22. Thanks for the comments about the blog! Pre-op is 2 weeks minimal calories. I have 4 options: liquid Diet: milk, yoghurt + all i can drink coffee, tea, Water, sugar free drinks Limited Meals - about 600-800 cals a day, Protein focussed minimal carbs Really strict Meal options which include cucumber and i hate cucumber with a burning passion Slimfast shakes I have gone for option 2 for when my pre-op diet starts next Friday. May switch to Option 4 for the second week. 48 hours pre-surgery I have to switch to Clear liquids only. Then fasting for 24 hours before the op. I have gone private rather than through the NHS (UK version of Medicare), so will have a room to myself at the hospital. Also have a nutritionist and counsellor available through the surgeon.
  23. I have told a few friends and close family back home, and friends here face to face (mostly) so that I could answer their questions. Having knowlege can be dangerous - but you have decided to go ahead regardless of what you know already wich makes you really brave as well! I figure that by letting my friends and family know they will make sure I stay accountable. I am also blogging the journey - http://aussiefoodiesjourney.blogspot.co.uk/ Where in Oz are you?
