a friends sister was going to be w/ me during the Sx but she flaked at the last min when i arrived in San Diego...but i had it done anyway. the patiet coord said 85% of the patients go alone. another lady was having the gastric sleeve after my LAP-BAND?? and she was alone. the only issue i had after the Sx was the RNs bell was not hooked up...the first few hrs was a little rougher than my gall bladder surgery. i wished he used stronger pain meds but he's very conservative. be sure that the MD you choose actually does thx Sx and not "supervises". some run them through like cattle. i got better treatment than when i had my gall bladder Sx but they used really, really good pain meds...lol

my experience was great. i would go again. i have since read that the Mexican consulate (sp) has issused a red alert warning (?) for TJ MX. i felt completly safe. even walked the streets to eat before my Sx and the next day to the grocery store for liquids. the hotel was attached to the medical center...very safe. i like the MD...he's very experienced, the patient coord is very nice but i did find that follow up w/ her after the Sx was very poor. she has 5 kids and uses her cell instead of staying in the office.
