Pat: I do not think I have met George at TLC. I was trying to get someone closure to home. I hope I do not regret it. I live in Duncanville and the trip to Plano and then to work would be hard. I will let you guys know tomorrow how it goes. My appointment is at 8:00. I am more than ready for this fill.

I had my surgery on Jan 24th with Dr Kim. I was very nervous about the surgery too. I think my problem was, I was self pay and new if something went wrong I could see $ signs everywhere. When I went to meet Dr Kim my husband went with me. Dr Kim made us both feel very confortable with the process. The only ones that know I had the surgery are my husband and a very close friend. I have not told any one at work, or my adult kids. I just did not want to hear any advise nor did I want the attention as to how much have you lost. I have just told everyone I was back on one of my diets and trying to eat healthy. I am still drinking one optifast a day for breakfast. I guess I was lucky, I did not mind the optifast. I also got the tomatoe soup and had it for dinner. It was really pretty good. I go for my first fill tomorrow morning. Hope I like this Dr Fears. I am going with a positive outlook and will keep you guys updated on how it goes. The pain I was having in my port area is much better. I think I just pushed it when I started to feel better and pulled some muscles Dianne.

I understand about getting the protein in. I need to go get me the Protein at the vitamin store as well. I will keep you posted. I also need to start walking. When my port was hurting I just backed off and took it real easy, But this weekend and today I feel pretty good. Dianne

tweenwaters: That is wonderful. I lost about 18 lbs before surgery. I have only lost 2 lbs since surgery. I sure hope this fill helps and I have to start to walk. I am so happy for you.

This is wonderful. I am sooooo happy for you. You go GIRL Dianne TX -
No I am going to a doctor over by Charlton Methodist in Duncanville. I live in Duncanville so it is real close. His name is Fears. I never heard of him, but I am going to try him out and see. I looked him up and shows he is in his ealy 60's. I wish they would let you go back to Dr Kim. But I guess that is out of question, unless you want to pay for it. Question, is your port area still tender. I was doing really good. But the last couple of weeks mine has been really tender and hurts from time to time. I call Cynthia and she said it might be I have been doing to much. Hope she is right and I do not have anything going upside down. Dianne TX

Tweenwaters: Sounds like you did great. I hope my fill goes the same next Thursday. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us. The only this you forgot was DID it hurt????. Please keep us posted. Dianne TX

Swelling In Port Area - 2 and Half Months Post-Op
Road King replied to InTheCityGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My port is my largest incision. Mine is to the left of my belly button about 4 inches. After my surgery about 3 weeks I was feeling little pain. But this last couple of days it has started to hurt again. I think I just did to much I thought I was all ok. I am going to take it easy for the next couple of days and see if it helps. Sure hope so. Swelling In Port Area - 2 and Half Months Post-Op
Road King replied to InTheCityGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My port area HURTS. I was banded Jan 24, 2008.. I called my doctor and asked him if I need to be concerned. They asked if I had any fever around the port area or if it was red. Which I do not. I told my doctor I was feeling really good with little if any discomfort. But then this past week I have started to fill pain again. I was told to watch for fever or redness. But he thought maybe I have been doing to much. Example lifting to much and have pulled the muscle around where the staples are for my port. Has anyone else gone through this. I am going to keep a close eye on it. Dianne TX -

This morning I am really feeling it more. I was banded on Jan 24, 2008. I am scheduled for my first fill on Mar 6th. Does anyone have any advise. I am thinking about calling my doctor today. I have a question. I was banded on Jan 24, 2008. Is it normal for my port area to still be sore. I have some days, I really feel good. But then some days the soreness comes back. Thanks for your input. Dianne TX -
Make sure you let us know how the fill process goes. My date for a fill is March 6th. Just one week after you. Does you port area still get tender sometime. Mine every once in a while gets tender??????? Wonder why. Dianne

How is weight loss for people over 50?
Road King replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Bonnie, sounds like a great idea. Maybe we can push each other. Maybe we just want results to fast. After going through surgery and I was self pay, how about you?, I am so afraid I will fail at this, the same way I have failed in the past. My husband keeps saying you have lost 20 lbs and you are not gaining. He is right, we just need to keep focus. Keep in touich Dianne TX -
How is weight loss for people over 50?

Bonnie, I am in the same spot as you. My surgery was 1-24-08. I lost weight with the Optifast pre-surgery diet. But I have lost maybe 3 pounds since surgery. Everyone keep telling me keep positive My first fill is March 6th. Sure hopes this helps. Dianne TX -
Cowboy, glad you are doing so well. Just don't rush it. Keep us posted on how you are doing. Sure is nice to have so many that used the same surgery center posting together. I am glad you felt the same as I did about Dr Kim and the whole staff, they really are wonderful.

I asked them about eating the day of the fill. I had a choice to go in early in the morning 8:00 or wait till 3:30 in the afternoon. The girl I talked to she would take the early morning appointment and go in without eating and then stay on liquids 2 days after. Let me know what you find out. Something else. My port area has been feeling really good. Today I started to feel a pulling around that area. Go figure, I can't put my finger on what I have done different. Anyone else felt this after 4 weeks from surgery.

This mushie stage is hard. I am hungry all the time. I am really fighting to keep my portions small. I am still drinking 2 protein shakes a day. I sure hope when I get my fill on March 6, it helps. I am holding my weight but wish I could loose some.

Your plan of having surgery Thursday and going back to work the following Tuesday was what I intended to do. But I was still not ready. I took a full week off. But as you will find everyone is different. You will love Dr Kim and his staff. Also TLC are great. I only have 2 more days of mushies and I will be on reqular food. I can't believe it's almost been 4 weeks since my surgery. I am scheduled for my first fill Mar 6th. I am ready.

Post Op Pain and Stuff?
Road King replied to YoungNy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took 10 days off after surgery. But everyone is different. About getting support from family and friends. Thats why I only told my husband. I just did not want to deal with opinion's of others. Dianne -
Cowboy just keep telling yourself you are in good hands. Dr Kim is wonderful. Everyone at the surgery center are very good and will make sure you feel comfortable. They will explained everything to you. When I left there Thursday the 24th of January I knew I had made the right decision. Please keep us posted how you are doing. We will keep you in our prayers. Dianne

We were banded on the same day. The 24th of January. My surgery was at 9:00. It's nice to have people that used the same surgery center and banded around the same time for support. How are you doing on the mushie's. What have you found to eat. Dianne
-
Thanks for asking how we are all doing. Sorry I have not posted in a while. I am doing great. I am in my 3rd week after surgery so I'm at the mushie stage. The first couple of days was nice being able to eat something other than Optifast. But for me I am at the point where the Optifast period was easier than this mushie stage. I am trying to stick with Soups. I do like my cottage cheese. Still drinking 2 Optifast a day to help with the hunger. Dr Kim did tell me, I could start to feel hungry, but do not worry, it just means I am healing. I have not really had any complaints. No reqrets I decided to have the band. Looking forward to my journey. From the date I started my pre op 2 weeks before surgery 1-10-08 to today I have lost 20lbs. I know it's going to slow down, but sure is nice to say 20 lbs gone. I have my first fill scheduled for March 6th. Looking forward to the fill. Dianne
