I lost 20 lbs prior to surgery, But I have only lost 2 lbs since surgery. Very disapointed. I go for my second fill today. Sure hope it helps. I know what you mean about changing your mind. I am on my 3rd bike. I bought my Screaming Eagle Road king last year. It's blue. Love it. This one I'm keeping. Dianne -

Randy: You ride in 2005 had to be some ride. Have not made it to Washington DC yet. Dianne -
Ok mixing the protein bullets with water is much better. I think this is the way I am going forward. Dianne

Stacy: Thanks for the suggestions. I will let you know how it works mixing with water. I am ready for my second fill thats for sure. I have been walking in the evening with my dog which both of us are enjoying. Tex: I know what you mean about waiting for the mussy stage, But get ready. For me the mussey stage was the hardest for me. You will start to heal and the hunger comes back. I was told by TLC when the hunger starts to set in you know you are healing well. Which is a good thing, but then you start to count the days for your fill. Sounds like you are going great. Dianne

Stacey: I went last night and got me some bullets. Fruit punch and Grape. If you drink it stright it's Horrible, Awful, Dreadfull. I got it down but I do not know if I can do this everyday. So now my question is. Did you add it to water so it was not so strong. I think I am going to try it this way tomorrow. I will say by me drinking it this morning, I do not think I am as hungry today. Maybe it's all in my head. Who knows. I have been trying to decide what shake I want to get. I have been drinking the rest of the Optifast for my breakfast on the way to work each morning. I only have 2 left, so I need to come up with something. I liked the taste of the Optifast, so I am trying to find something I do not have to fight to get down. Open for suggestions. Dianne

Randy where is Texas are you from. By your picture looks like you are a member of a chapter. What chapter???? I'm from the Dallas area. Member of the Dallas chapter. Dianne -
HI Tweewaters: I am so happy you are doing so well. I really have not lost any weight since surgery. But I have not gained either. My first fill has really not helped me much. I still fight being hungry most of the time. I still have about 4 Optifast left, but they will be gone this week. Someone told me about a protein drink at Sams I am going to check out. I also have been eating fish. I think my biggest fault is not walking. I just have to make up my mind to do it. I know if I get going with loosing this weight I can stay motivated, but right now I am just mad at myself. Maybe this second fill will help. I am going to go back to the same place I went for my first fill. It's so close to where I live it's hard to give it up. Stay in touch. Dianne

I call TLC at 972-792-2799 requested a fill and they set me up for my second fill on 4-3-08. Very easy. They will not schdule a fill appointment until 2 weeks have past from your last fill. Which I am just a little over the 2 week mark. Sure hope this fill will help me. Dianne
-
I also have a question. If any of you need to call TLC what phone number do you use. The only number I have is Cynthia O'Kelly's phone number. Dianne

Hi everyone: Sounds like everyone is doing great. Sorry I have not posted in a while. Been busy with my husband, He is having some health issues. My first fill has not helped me much. Have not lost much weight, but I can say I have not gained either. I am ready to call and ask for another fill. I know my biggest problem is not walking. I need to kick myself in the butt and get with the program. Now the weather is getting better, I am going to try and walk on my lunch hour. I have heard before "Whey Protein Bullets" are good. I need to go get me some. So Tweenwaters you are drinking one a day? Everyone is doing so good, I'm jealous. But don't worry I have not given up. I think I will call today and see if I can schedule a fill. Dianne

Dolores you will love Dr Kim. I was really nervous about the whole thing. When I had my first visit with Dr Kim I took my husband with me. Both of us felt really positive after our visit. Dianne

Tweenwaters, Did you go back to LTC to meet with the doctor. My first fill has not given me the restriction I was hoping for. Maybe I will get there with my next fill. The weight is coming off very slow. You are doing much better than I. I have started to walk this past week, so I hope that will help me. I know my King Charles "Wish Bone" really likes the walks. He is almost 8 months old. I still have not tried to eat Red meat. Trying to stay with chicken and fish. I did try sweet corn the other day, and I do not think I will be trying again for sometime. Rice is another NO NO for me. TexasT Just make sure for the first couple of days after the surgery, take the pain meds and keep GasX strips close by. They really helped me. Also I used the heating pad. keep in tough everyone Dianne

With me being older, Dr Kim told me 145 goal would be a good one for me. I know I am not going to loose this weight if I do not start walking. I keep talking about it, but I guess I need someone to kick me in the ____. I do think I am not going to get the restriction I need with this first fill. I can tell, I'm eating less but I think I am still eating to much. Tweenwaters you are doing great.

I am glad to see the January banders are sharing their journey. I was banded on January 24th. I have only had one fill. At first I thought I had some restriction. But it really is all gone. I might not be able to eat as much, but I know it's still more than I should be able to. I lost about 18 lbs before surgery, but only a couple of pounds after the surgery. I still am not exercising as I should. The good thing is I am not gaining weight. When I got my fill I was told my port was a little tilted. Has anyone else been told this. Dianne TX

TexasT So glad to hear your doing better witht the leg cramps. I have been riding for about 10 years. I love it. Do to my husbands illness we have not been able to ride since last June. We used to take long trips with our friends and go all over the USA. Sure do miss it. Still have our bikes, we keep thinking maybe he will get better and we can ride again. About my fill. I have felt some restriction. But sure wish I had more. I am going to give it a couple of weeks and see what happens. About the only thing that gives me a big problem is Bread and rice. I have not tried any Red meat. Been staying with chicken and fish. I really need to get going on walking. With this weather getting better I want to start walking on my lunch hour. I keep telling myself I will walk when I get home, but that never seems to happen. Just to much to do when I get home. Dianne
-
TexasT I sure hope your leg cramps are going away. When I started the Optifast my big problem was given up the diet coke. I used to drink about 6 a day. When I stopped I would really get a bad head ache. It took about 2 weeks to get the caffeine out of my system. But it's been 2 months and I have not had a diet coke. Dianne TX

TexasT Yes they spray something on you before they put the needle in. I did not feel anything when they put in the saline. Yes I ride a Harley, Custom Road King (Blue). My husband and I both used to ride alot. My husband is having some health issues and we have not been riding much. Hope we will be able to get more riding in this summer. Dianne TX

It's nice to hear your port is tilted a little. Makes me feel better. I sure hope I do not have to wait for many fills to fell restriction. But if that is what it takes I'm in this for the long haul. I have to get better with walking. I am sure that will help. The weather is starting to turn nice which will help. Thanks again for your input. Dianne TX -

Thanks for the info. I can't tell you how excited I was to get my first fill. I can say this whole lap band procedure has really gone well for me so far. I am loosing, maybe not as fast as I would like, but I really feel good about my progress. Thank God for this site, I have learned so much. Dianne TX -

Have a question. I had my first fill yesterday afternoon. I found out they put in 3.0 saline at time of surgery Jan 24, 2008. I now have a total of 5.6. The doctor mentioned he might me able to put more in, but it was my first fill and being close to the weekend he did not want to get me in trouble with a overfill. I drank water before I left and felt fine. I still feel great. Had no trouble taking my pills this morning. I am on liquds for 24 hours and then mushies and then work back to my salids slowly. I really do not feel any different. Is this normal?? I was thinking maybe I really won't feel restriction until I start to eat reqular food. ????? I was also told my port is tilted a little but nothing to worry about????? If it was nothing to worry about, I wish they had not told me. Dianne TX -
Texas T That is exactly why I have not told anyone but my husband and one best friend for many years. My best friends has watched my go through many trial and error with my weight battle. I have not even told my adult children. I just do not want to hear the feedback. If they notice I am loosing weight they can just think I am back on one of my diets again. OK I had my first fill yesterday. There was some confusion as to when my appointment was scheduled. Someone at TLC gave me Dr Fears address and phone number in Duncanville and told me to be there at 8:00. So my plan was to go get my fill and then go into work. Well, when I showed up, I was not on the schedule and the Dr's office was a little confussed why I was there. So they called someone at TLC and let me know George was to do my fill, but could not do it till 3:30 in the afternoon. So I went back home, cleaned house and waited for 3:30. Due to the weather I received a call around 2:00 and they wanted me to come up right away so George could try to get home earlier. I was on my way. I really like George, Yes he does know what he is doing. He explains everything to you. It was a piece of cake. He told me Dr Kim had put in 3.0 saline at time of surgery. George put in 2.6. Which gives me a total of 5.6. He said he might could have put more in, but because it was my first fill and being the weekend he did not want to get me in trouble with an overfill. I am on full liquids for 24 hours and then mushies again. Told me to work back to solids slowly. I did not have any trouble. I really do not feel any different. Took all my pills this morning with no trouble. I had my Optifast this morning. He did say my port was a little tilted. But nothing to worry about. Sure hope George sticks around. There was a girl there helping George for TLC and I asked what the procedure was for furture fills and I was told, if I see my see myself being able to eat to much to just call TLC and let them know I am ready. But I should wait at least 3 weeks, because sometimes the full effect of the fills takes time. Everyone is different. Pat make sure you let us know how your fill went. Dianne.
