Does anybody else feel the band as it is being unfilled and refilled? When they draw the fluid out and put it back in during a fill I feel a sensation kind of like heartburn. It does not last very long but it is an odd feeling. That bothers me more than the needle does.

Well, at least now I know I am not the only one. I have noticed that with each fill it is a little more uncomfortable. :biggrin:

No leaks. They pull out all the fluid before adding new and each time the amount that comes out is usually very close. I am hoping they will take a closer look at my next appointment. I don't know if I can still eat anything I want (supposed to do fluids for a day) but before the fill I certainly could.

Well, I am now at 17cc's in a 14cc band. Does anybody else get the feeling that something is not quite right? I should not even be able to swallow my own spit any more but I am not having any trouble. The fill was just yesterday so we will see what happens now.

Just to update you all I am now at 16.2cc's in my 14cc band. I have broken the hospital record. I don't know if I should be happy about that or not. For the first week after the fill I was feeling decent restriction for a change but now after week two I am noticing that it is less again. I go for another fill in about two more weeks. I have to wonder how much they can put in there before it should be completely closed. And why is it only good for about a week? :tt2:

Well, I am now up to 15.2cc's in my 14cc band. My doctor is considering having me scheduled for an upper GI to check for problems. When they remove the fluid it looks good and I don't have any difficulties other than lack of restriction. I would have to be the oddball.

Yeah, it seems like a lot to me too. They keep telling me not to worry. I'm concerned that it had to be filled so much to start with. What happens when I lose a lot of weight? Will it be able to adjust enough to keep up? Time will tell I guess. So far it seems to be doing the trick. I don't know that I'm quite to the 'sweet spot' yet but it seems like I'm close.

I just thought I would post and say that I had my 6th fill Monday. I think I am finally feeling good restriction. By the doctor's calculations (amount removed + new added) I have 13.6cc's. By my calculation I should be at 15cc's. There must be a lot of flexibility is all I can say.

I had my fifth fill yesterday. It does feel like I have some restriction now but I won't know how good until I'm done with the 1.5 days of liquids. They only got 12.2cc's out and put 13.2cc's back in. So by their records it is 13.2, by my calculations I should be right at the 14cc mark. Oh well I guess it doesn't really matter as long as it starts working again now.

ParaGirl, did you end up needing an unfill or did it settle into the 'sweet spot'? I go for my next fill a week from today.:tt1:

I am sorry that your restriction didn't stay in the 'sweet spot'. You should be pretty close next time though! It makes me a little more at ease knowing I am not the only one at the high end of the adjustment too. I did ask again this time and they still won't tell me how much they can overfill them, but the nurse told me not to worry.

That's good to hear. :tt1: That means you still have plenty of room for 'adjustment'.

I too, of course, have cast my vote for you. It looks like the others are catching up to you a little. We better be more diligent in supporting you! Good luck!

Well, I am at 13cc's. I do feel a little restriction now but it is still not as much as I had hoped. Next month I will get another cc. I am happy it does not feel like it is missing any more though.

Well, I had my 4th fill today. Another 2cc's. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get restriction this time. Once I get to eat real food tomorrow I should find out.

You had 7.75cc's added?! That seems extreme. Are you sure you are not at a total of 7.75cc's so it would have been about a 2cc fill?

I know I worry about running out of adjustment before I get restriction too, but my nurse that does my fills told me they can go a little beyond it's rated capacity. I don't know how much 'a little' is but I am hoping I don't need to go that far before I feel restriction to find out.

I am at 11cc's in my 14cc band. I feel very little restiction. I can eat about anything without worry. I do chew well so that probably helps but the amount that I can eat and then be hungry again within a couple hours sucks. It is four weeks until my next fill. I am worried they will have to overfill mine before I have enough restriction, but I still have three cc's to go.

I have also been kind of worried that running out of adjustment before good restriction could happen. I am at 11cc's of a 14cc band after only three fills. For a month and a half after sugery restriction was good but since then I only feel restriction for about a day after a fill and then it's like I don't have the band. Okay, that is a slight exageration. I cannot eat as much as I could before banding but I only want to be able to eat about a cupfull not 3+. I was also told at my last fill that they could go beyond the limit a little. I wonder how much a little is.
