  1. I was banded last November and also had a hernia repair( which lasted about 3 weeks grr) but yea, the burning pain was closer over my heart and kind of into my shoulder. Everyone said it was gas or it would hurt only when I had enough to eat but it eventually went away.

    Strange scar issue

One of my incisions busted three days post surgery. Doc never re steri stripped it and the scar is very round red and ugly. It also took a month or better to fill in with tissue. I am in Texas close to Houston so if anyone reads this looking for a Houston doc, pm me and I'll share with you who to avoid lol. (not just for that reason either)

Sleep Apena ~*~ I need it!!!!

I had to have the sleep apnea test to help me qualify with insurance. Its one of the co-morbidities. Havent read all the way through this thread, so forgive me if I repeated someone else.
  7. I have had the left shoulder pain off and on. My port is on the right. I haven't noticed a correlation between hunger/fullness and the pain either but I will pay attn. next time. I was banded on Nov. 7 2007.

    No one in Nov?

I had mine on November 7 2007. I am new here. It took me 7 mos. to get approved for the procedure.
  9. Be Careful stopping meds. I felt wonderful with no reflux for weeks after surgery( banded on Nov. 7, 2007) but let me explain why I went back on nexium. 20 yrs ago, my mother had a dacron band put on her stomach called gastric segmentation by Dr. Molina in Houston, Texas. When I started my LapBand process, she wanted to see about having a revision done on hers. We both went for endoscopy together. Her results returned saying she had Barrett's esophagus( precancerous changes to lining of esophagus) She didn't realize the acids were still washing into her esophagus pretty bad because of her band but they were. The doc put her on protonics and keraphate and eventually she ended up going through a grueling 6 hr. operation to remove her old band that had gotten very constricted and they fixed her up with a gastric bypass on Dec. 10, 2007. She is still trying to recover. I would suggest if you do stop the meds, have an endoscopy every other year or so to be safe.
