Surgery September 8th and Feeling Horrible
MrsKitz posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So I had my surgery this past Tuesday. All went well. But I had a really bad hiatal hernia that was way up in my chest cavity and my stomach was severely twisted in two places, add in a lot of scarring and deteriorated mesh from a prior repair, and yep, it was a mess. Yesterday morning I woke with severe pain and was rushed to the ER. They did a ct scan and found a collection of fluids at my esophagus due to all the swelling. They managed to get my pain under control and I was able to keep down sips of clear liquid. So they released me. Now it hurts to take a sip of water, and it really hurts to get in the liquid pain meds. I'm getting up and walking as frequently as possible. Please tell me this will quickly pass and be a distant memory. -

Pre-Op Diet and the Monster Inside

Well, I'm glad the beast/monster can be tamed with just a few bites. Right now, it refuses to be satisfied. But just have today and tomorrow the deed is done. -
Pre-Op Diet and the Monster Inside
MrsKitz posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hey y'all. I'm on my third day of the liquid pre-op diet and there seems to be a monster living inside my stomach! It is quite angry. Question for those in the know. Does this monster shut up after the sleeve surgery? If so, is it right away? It doesn't hurt, it's just embarrassing when in public. Seriously LOUD!! ???? -
Good luck on your diet! Today is my last day on mine, surgery tomorrow. I had a nightmare that we stopped at McDonald's on the way to the hospital for breakfast tacos. How are you doing today, Debs528?

At over four months, found out I was taking my supplements all wrong...

You might want to double check the CitraCal label. I haven't found a CitraCal with calcium citrate. It's a carbonate. Even the pharmacist had it wrong. The name is misleading. If you have found one that is citrate, please post a pic of the label. I was hoping to use those because they are readily available and less spendy. -
Thanks for the Jedi hug. It was my first ever!

Hey there September sleevers! Any one out there?
MrsKitz replied to notforthefaint's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, but I think you misunderstood. I quoted Abby&IvysMom who is having the issue with her doctor. I agree with you, it's time for her to find a new doctor. My team of doctors are all very supportive and happy for me. It took a while for me to find a great team, but I've got the best. -
The Best Decision I've Ever Made
MrsKitz replied to ITGeekGirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My starting weight was 289 and my starting BMI was 42 43. I was in the beginning stages of Diabetes and fatty liver disease. Thanks for sharing! Your post is a huge inspiration for me. My surgery is coming up this Tuesday, and I'm concerned about the recovery time. I've had several open abdominal surgeries and have always bounced back quickly. I don't have time to lay about. Hoping this will be as easy as the hiatal repair I had 6 years ago. -

@@ITGeekGirl thanks for the encouragement! How awesome that you already have that much energy! Please, do you mind sharing your sw/bmi? I'm hoping that I'll be able to get going on my aerobics quickly. I'm done with not having energy. -
Not a mistake after all

Wow, you've had a really rough start. So glad to read this update. I too had wondered about you. You've got a great attitude and you'll be just fine. Please keep us posted on your progress. -
Mine is set for September 8, and I'm now starting day 4 of my 5 day liquid diet. The 1st day was tough, but now I've got the hang of it. I'm looking forward to getting past this stage and onto recovery. Last night my husband was crunching carrots and they sounded so good. I had to grab a sugar free popsicle to have something to crunch on too. Lol Yes, we can do this and we'll soon be sharing before/after pics and telling each other how awesome we look.

Looking for a good smoothie maker

I recently bought a Ninja. It has a lot of power and I haven't had any foam. -
I have so many sizes already in my closet. I'm looking forward to fitting into those again and then while I continue to lose, I'll shop at Goodwill and sew for a while till I'm in maintenance.

Congrats on getting past the surgery! My surgery is this coming Tuesday, so I have no experience. But I've read that the fatigue and nausea do pass. I'd suspect the ketosis breath will last as long as we're dropping the weight. Maybe keep something like a sugar free Altoids around.

Yeah, what's the drain for?

I can't understand why some folks have to be so harsh and judgemental, especially a doctor who should understand that it's not by choice. Definitely find a new doctor right away, and next year, send your old one a pic of your new self. -

Men are weird sometimes. Mine hesitates to say things because he just doesn't think about it, and if he does think about it, he's not sure how to voice it. Women in his past have made him fearful of possible responses, so he says nothing. We're working on it.

Glad your surgery went well. Yay! Now on to recovery and a new you! Very happy for you. ????
