I didn't think it was so literal
kranky813 replied to csawesome's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was a surprise to me too.. a huge surprise, in my pants, a few times The best advice someone gave me was never trust a fart. I am 6 months out and still have to be cautious. It will get a lot better. It will start to get better when you are eating solids again, just try to be patient. I was the same as you and sometimes had to shower a few times a day just to feel clean. Right now I was say go ahead and take the Imodium. If you are nervous about it you can always cut it in half and just take half now and if that doesn't help take the other half later. -
Anyone else having trouble drinking coffee?
kranky813 replied to Athenyx's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Athenyx coffee is a love/hate relationship with me. I love coffee and when the doc gave me the ok to drink it again I was so happy!! However, I will say that every single time I drink it (which is daily) about an hour after I start to drink I have to run to the bathroom. Once I go to the bathroom I'm fine but it doesn't matter if it's only one sip of coffee or the entire cup, it's like clockwork with the bathroom run. I did ask my doc about it and he said it's fairly normal for that to happen with drinking coffee. It's up to me if I want to run to the bathroom or now. For me, it's worth it -
How in the world have I gained 18 pounds in 5 days?!?!?!?
kranky813 replied to Fatty McFatster's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm in agreement - you should probably go into the ER. What you are experiencing is NOT NORMAL they need to find out what is going on ASAP. 30lbs in a week could be dangerous. -

When will by BRAIN catch up?!? Mental Confusion
kranky813 replied to Nikki Monroe's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was sleeved in August 2015 and I am in the same boat as you. I am down 70lbs and I am currently sitting between a size 5/6 and a 7/8. I weigh 169lbs. I still see the 240 pound girl. When I look in the mirror I don't really see much of a difference. I know I have lost the weight, everyone tells me I am going to blow away in the wind, the size of my clothes are smalls.... so I just don't understand why my brain wont catch up. It's a very weird feeling. So when you find out the magic cure... please let me know. I would love to see myself the way others see me -
Bummer! I'm so sorry that you are having these complications! I did not go through what you are going through but I was readmitted the day after I got home for dehydration. I couldn't drink anything it hurt too much. They kept me in the hospital for 3 days on IV fluids. Once I was able to go home I really focused on taking teeny tiny sips of Water. Eventually I was able to take regular swallows and today I can chug if I want Just follow your doctor's advice and rest. It's time to take care of you now.

Weight dipped below 40 BMI at last weigh in!
kranky813 replied to shellimac3's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I wouldn't worry too much about it. My surgeon told me it was from the 1st weigh in I had for the program, that is what the starting was. I know all insurances are a little different though... I would see what he has to say when you see him in April. -
Husband's breaking furniture due to weight, but still refuses surgery?
kranky813 replied to Comfy_Blue's topic in The Lounge
I agree with just about everything that everyone else on here has said but I think there is one key piece of information missing... Have you ever asked or dug in to find out why? Why doesn't he want surgery? I know you said that he says he can do it on his own but that isn't really an answer in my book. Is there something that he is scared of? Does he like the way his life is? I waited 10 years for my surgery out of fear. Anyone I ever talked to told me these horror stories about surgery - even though I knew people who had done it and were successful. It scared me to my core. It took me being forced to see my life, or nonexistent life that is, to wake up and decide surgery was the best option for me. I'm just wondering if there is an underlying cause to him not wanting surgery and if you can find that out maybe you can help him. I'm sorry for your situation... I can sympathize on how difficult it must be for you. -
@@RJC5197 Don't know if you are into essential oils or not but OnGuard by DoTerra is my best friend!! I diffuse it during the typical "sick seasons" and we seem to get through ok. My daughter even has an autoimmune disorder and we have stayed fairly healthy through the worst of it. I will say that we both have colds right now but everyone at my work is coming down with the terrible flu. Just my opinion.

Questions about surgery
kranky813 replied to excitedforweightloss's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@excitedforweightloss So what I am going to tell you is what everyone else has said so far I have VERY long thick beautiful hair. I have always loved my hair, it's one of my best features. I am 6 months out from surgery and have been losing a lot of it. Honestly I am really the only one who has noticed it. It still looks thick and it's still very long. It just doesn't take as long to style or dry My hairdresser noticed that it is thinning out a bit but it still took 2 hours to color it the other day. I never had a drainage tube. My doctor said he doesn't think they are needed. Every surgeon is different. I didn't vomit but I was nauseated for about a week after surgery. They put this little sticker thing behind my ear during surgery and told me to take it off 72 hours after surgery. Once I took that little bad boy off I got really nauseated. They had to put me on stronger drugs to help because it was pretty bad. Honestly, once I hit day 9 post op everything started to get a lot better and today I am so in love with my surgery I wish I would have done it 10 years ago. I will also say that I was in your shoes, I think we all were. Nervous, not sure what to expect. It will be fine. Just ask your questions and know that we are all here for you. @@excitedforweightloss So what I am going to tell you is what everyone else has said so far I have VERY long thick beautiful hair. @@lisalisa1212 I had the same reaction you did. I would cry because of my hair loss and didn't want to go to the hairdresser either. I actually just went last weekend and everything went just fine. She mentioned that she could tell my hair got thinner but that I still had plenty of it and that it wasn't noticeable. The chemicals didn't hurt my remaining hair at all. I have VERY long hair. Past my bra line so you would be able to tell if it was super bad. I think we just think it's a lot worse then it is because we see it come out.

I've tried them all and agree that you may have to either use a marinade or add some fat for cooking purposes. When we process our deer it is usually a 1/3 & 2/3 ratio. 1/3 of ground beef or pork and 2/3 of the venison. Ostrich is pretty good ground up into burgers. You can probably find lots of recipes for these if you google them. That is what we do besides looking through the wild game cookbook my hubby has.

People would say the same thing to me. You are losing weight too quickly or "you're going to blow away in the wind you are so tiny" to me I wasn't tiny at all. My surgeon put it perfectly - These people see you every day and saw you at your heaviest. Would a stranger tell you you look too skinny? Probably not. I would continue what you are doing and go with it. There will come a time when you are begging the scale to drop one more pound.

Just super excited to share that my insurance is covering my breast reduction and lift surgery!! I just got the news last night!! So freaking happy! The thing I think is hilarious is that they didn't cover WLS but they don't have a problem covering reconstruction of my TaTas. The hubs even said that since I am going to be under and it would be cheaper in the long run we can throw a tummy tuck in at the same time! Now I just have to get rid of these ulcers and be smoke free for 6 weeks prior to surgery! I CAN do this!

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers
kranky813 replied to Fatty McFatster's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So sorry you are going through this! I have had Kidney stones 3 times and only once did I need surgery for the removal. It was the worst pain I had ever been through in my entire life. The good news is that you are on the other side and the pain will eventually let up and you will start to feel better. I know hospitals are the best place to relax and take it easy but try. If you are having a really difficult time let the nurses know. They can probably give you something to relax you and help you sleep. Prayers sent! -
Smokers Beware! - I have an ulcer
kranky813 replied to kranky813's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks everyone for your kind words. I was a little worried about the reaction I would get. I have been down and out for quite some time due to the pain. I had a scope yesterday and just as everyone figured I have several ulcers. I am now taking 8 medications every morning to try and combat them. Trust me when I tell you they are VERY painful. My doctor put it very simply for me yesterday: You can continue to smoke and live every day of your life in pain or you can quit and be just fine, the choice is yours. Obviously I am choosing to quit. The difficult thing however is that I can't use Patches, gum, e-cigarettes... nothing that has nicotine in it because the nicotine is what causes the ulcers. I was put on Welbutrin and will see how that goes. -
@@UalreadyKnow I am sitting in the exact same spot you are. I have not lost a single pound in over a month. It is so frustrating sometimes. Sometimes I even think that this is where I am supposed to be. I even have caught myself comparing myself to others but I have to remember that my journey is different. Like others have said talk to your NUT see what they say. I am going to increase my exercise and see if that helps

Sleeved 6 days ago
kranky813 replied to Jennifer1206's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Jennifer1206 I am 6 months out but will tell you that the first 9 days for me were pure hell. I was readmitted to the hospital the day after I got home for dehydration. I couldn't drink at all. With the fast weight loss and going into ketosis I was a basket case of hormones which made me cry all the time and I am not a crier. My husband didn't know what to do with me. I will tell you that on day 9 everything changed for me. I was only in the hospital for 3 days and then went home. On day 9 I woke up and things felt a little better. I felt a little better. It kept getting better and better from there on out. The first month was pretty hard when I look back and think about it but I will tell you that at 6 months out I absolutely LOVE life. I am down about 70 pounds (stuck for about a month - oh well) I am in a size 5/6 jeans and small top. I am active, I can play with my kids again and the compliments keep coming and coming. It's a truly great feeling. So I am going to tell you the thing I needed to hear when I was in your shoes. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. It may not seem like it but I promise you that there is one. Just hang in there and don't be too hard on yourself. You will heal at your own pace and get a little better each day Good Luck! -

The second most painful experience of my life..omg...this was bad
kranky813 replied to CowgirlJane's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ohhh happened to me too! About a month after surgery I got a kidney stone! I thought I was going to die the pain was so horrible. Mine was able to pass on it's own but I had one about 6 years ago prior to VSG and that one needed surgery to come out. They did a Lithotripsy which is blasting it away with ultrasound waves. They put you under but they don't cut into you. It was a same day procedure and made the stone turn into dust so I could pass it. Kidney stones are so much worse than anything I have ever had. -
So many fears. Someone talk me down!
kranky813 replied to breezy25's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am a self payer and was super nervous too! I had not special diet except the don't eat 12 hours prior to surgery. You will be fine and do great! Once you have the sleeve your hunger will go away completely. I didn't have a desire to eat for a long time and had to put a timer on my phone to eat at all. I didn't go through withdrawals and I was a carb-a-holic prior to surgery. I think that the jitters and nerves are normal. It means that you are taking things seriously. You will do great! -
Is this going to get easier?
kranky813 replied to nervousnelly719's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@nervousnelly719 I'm a little over 6 months out and I promise it gets easier. I remember being where you are and feeling miserable. Today I don't even remember I have the sleeve half the time. I just go on with my normal daily routine and life is wonderful The beginning it is so important to focus on you. Getting your fluids in, getting your Protein in, getting enough rest and enough walking. Once you have hit a few weeks out these things will be like a second nature to you and you won't have to think about them anymore Good Luck and welcome to the losers side
