Beaumont, Texas Area Mental Health Dr?

Ooooohhhhhhh! That makes total sense! Help is definitely needed! LOL! I really would recommend Dr. Smith. I had to fill out an hours worth of questionnaires but after that it was a few basic questions and I was out of his office in no time. He had his report sent to my surgeon that same day. I was super nervous going in and this was the part of the process I was least looking forward to. I have friends who broke down and cried during their psych evaluations and after a pretty tough year, I was just not trying to do all that. Anyway, long story short, if you need actual counseling, he's probably not your guy, but if you need to just check the box off for insurance purposes and move along, he's great! Good luck!

P.S. If you're in Beaumont, why are you going all the way to Dallas? I had an hour and a half drive home the day after surgery and it was miserable.

I used Dr. Kevin Smith. I don't have his number off the top of my head. His main office is in Downtown Houston but he's in Baytown 1 day a week, Thursdays I believe. Try to google him and if you can't find it, I'll did the number up for you.

    24 hour post op misery

How are you feeling Roxie? Any better? It looks like we were sleeved the same day (8/10). My first 24 hours were pretty miserable, I actually broke down and cried twice. Day 2 was significantly better and by Day 3, I was great EXCEPT for the gas pains. Oh Sweet Jesus, the gas PAIN!!!! Rounding out Week 1 now and I still feel like I have an ice pick in my left shoulder and every now and then for no apparent reason, someone decides to twist it and it tightens up my whole chest and takes my breath away. Doctor says to walk, walk, walk. Well, I'm doing that and maybe it has helped but it's still there and at times paralyzing. I'm doing the GasX strips also. I'm hoping that it's just Phrenic nerve irritation and that time will make it go away completely. I'd love some tips if anyone has experienced something similar!
  6. It's gone great actually. Much better than I expected if I'm honest. The biggest issue I've had is from the gas pain. It's horrendous and even the pain meds don't help. My left shoulder feels like I have an ice pick stabbed through it and now and then someone decides to twist it. I've been walking like crazy, doing my breathing exercises, taking GasX, nothing helps. They say for most people this disappears on its own by Day 3. Not sure how I got (un)lucky. Other than that though, my energy is up, my incisions look good. I'm not sleeping because of the shoulder thing but I'm excited for the future!
  7. I was just sleeved on Monday (8/10) by Dr. Alanis. I'd love to have a buddy! I actually live North of Houston but made the drive as he came highly recommended.
