    Rice?

Rice will be one of the last things you will be able to eat. At least 6 weeks, but it would be better to wait a few months. It expands in the stomach and is hard to digest. It's not something you can eat right away.

    Name Your Sleeve!

@, that's why I say that Runt's full name isn't for the faint of heart.

    Violent nightmares

Another patient and I both had the same violent dreams right after surgery. We both dreamed that unknown somebodies were force feeding us so our stomachs exploded. I had it two nights in a row, she had it at least once. I have been recalling my dreams better since surgery as well. Something I rarely did.

    Multivitamins ;/

Iron in the multivitamin is a common cause of nausea. The one and only time I vomited since surgery was after trying a new multivitamin. 30 seconds and I ran to the bathroom. Terrible.

    Name Your Sleeve!

Clearly our new tummies are the boss. But, like all bad bosses they can be unreasonable. And its nice to have someone to blame.

I'm on day 11... No energy at all.

I has surgery on oct 22nd. I am wiped after a full shift at my desk job. I get home, shower, and rebandage my incisions and all I can do is go to bed. Very typical for any major surgery.

    Nauseated

I was nauseated and contacted the after care nurse. She advised me to add an additional dose of prilosec because she felt that I probably had too much acid in my tummy. Seemed to do the trick. But contact your team. You cannot allow yourself to be dehydrated.

    I apologize

That's why we are here! We all need support and have good/bad days. Losing weight so quickly causes your hormone levels to freak out. Not to mention, you just had major surgery!! Lighten up on you and vent when you need to. It has to come out. Mood swings, depression, anxiety, sadness, happiness, and euphoria are all part of the hormone fluctuations. Yesterday was a bad day for me. I was 10 days out and couldn't consider keeping down anything. I contacted the after care nurse and she suggested that my acid levels were too high. I added an extra dose of prilosec, and tada! better. Contact your doctor and let them know your GERD is flairing. I don't know how far out from surgery you are, but there might be something they can suggest or prescription changes to be made. For me? The hormone fluctuations have caused the never ending spotting in the lady area. I'm a terror on a normal period, now? I keep telling mom I'm sorry and I love her because I can't be easy to live with. Try to take it all with humor. I named my sleeve so I have someone to yell at when she's acting up. Her name is Runt. We have lots of arguments. My incisions are pissing me off right now as they keep sloughing their scabs and we have to start from scratch with the healing. If they keep this crap up, I might name them too.

    Catching a cold?

I do ginger ale or more likely 7up when sick, well prior to surgery. After? Well, chicken soup is good for the head cold. Just like everything else, you have to adjust it. I suppose you COULD still do crackers after your all healed up, but it's up to you if the empty calories are worth it. Sometimes you just need that comfort food.

    Things you feel good about?

I just had surgery 11 days ago. BUUUUT, I'm down 38lbs since starting preop, and today I accidentally took off my jeans without unbuttoning them. WOOT!

    What's the deal with ice?

How strange. The first thing they gave me after I woke up after surgery was chipped ice to eat.

Am I the only one with Diarrhea?

Introduced rotein after surgery causes diarrhea. I am 6 days out and have had it since day 1. Just things adjusting.
  15. Day 2 of liquid diet. 2 days to go for surgery. I'm so hangry! I'm hungry, angry that I'm hungry, and I have a head cold that is making me whiny. I want a sammich. I'm very excited though. We have an early flight tomorrow so my companion and I will stay at a hotel tonight and prevent the long drive at an ungodly hour tomorrow. Here we go! Seriously, someone get me a sandwich!
  16. I also did four weeks of pre op. Pre op was ok, this is brutal.
  17. Yes, I contacted the nurse as soon as I felt it coming on. She said to take cold medication but that doctor will still do the surgery. It's already almost gone. I feel much better than I did yesterday. Another good night's sleep and I should be right as rain.

    400+ Sleevers?

Thank you for starting this thread. I'm scheduled for surgery in two days. I chose the sleeve over the bypass due to concerns about dumping syndrome and malnutrition even though bypass is probably better for someone my size. My highest weight was 410 two months before I started pre op. I imagine I was heavier when I started pre op. I've lost approximately 20lbs so far. I am so excited for Thursday! I am in my second day of the all clear liquid diet and I'm HANGRY!
  19. I am on a pre op diet. Low carb, low cal, low fat, high Protein. My surgeon says it is to reduce the size of the liver to give him more room to work. I have talked to others that have to do all liquid for two weeks pre op. Yuck. I'm jealous that you only have to do one day!

    Pre-Op Diet Slip Up

As my sister says, "Dust yourself of and go." Learn, forgive yourself, recommit, and move forward. (My sister teaches 3 and 4 year olds. Most kids cry at that age whenever they fall or bump themselves, but she couldn't handle it. So she asks them if they are bleeding, if not, she tells them to dust themselves and go. After a few weeks, the kids say it to each other. "Ya bleeding? Well, dust yourself off and go!"

    Help I am SO hungry!

It could be acid. You might want to take an extra dose of your omeprazole.

Those of you having issues with the shakes, I was tipped off that you can mix GENEPRO with sugar free hot chocolate. I tried it the other day and it wasn't bad! 2 scoops of Genepro is 30g of Protein.

Cash pay doctors in the US

@losing4ree I am using a company called A Lighter Me. My surgeon is Dr. Elias Ortiz. He is the chief surgeon of the facility. I fly down to San Diego on the 21st. My companion and I will be picked up by a driver at the airport and driven to Tijuana. After blood tests, etc at the hospital, he drives us to the hotel for the night. The next morning, he picks us up from the hotel and drives us to the hospital. I have surgery and we stay in the hospital for two nights. My companion stays with me the entire time. After the second night, they do one more leak test to make sure the stomach isn't leaking and we are driven back to the hotel for another two nights of recovery. We will be staying at the Tijuana Grand Hotel. The 11th floor is dedicated to surgery recovery with nurses on staff. During the next two days, the driver takes us out shopping and to the pharmacy if we want. On the morning of the sixth day, we check out of the hotel and our driver takes us back to the airport in San Diego. Easy peesy. www.alighterme.com

I'm scheduled for the 22nd as well! I can't wait. I started the pre op diet a week early because my bmi is over 50. I'm currently on day 9 of a three week pre op diet. The first four days were horrible, but it got better fast. I am so excited that there is no room to be nervous! I head to Tijuana on the 21st.
